Clyne has improved a lot in the air this season, he won more headers than he lost yesterday.

In fairness, how many of us thought Hooiveld would fail to step up in such spectacular fashion? We thought Fonte would be the one to be replaced but as it stands he's one of our most stoic performers.

I hope we don't have to see Davis in DM again this season, Ward-Prowse is the back up there. Davis is an attacking midfielder without doubt.

Ramirez was definitely fouled for the second, though the fact he gave up on the ball (when he probably still could have got to it) and appealed didn't work in his favour.

Apart from one mistake I thought Yoshida looked much better actually.

There was lots of talk at the time about our players looking out of shape and form through out all of pre-season, personally I think this was the reason. Remember how poor Lambert looked until about 2-3 months in?

He may have been very angry but I don't believe for a second it would have got to Mike Bassett levels of shouting (certainly not throwing chairs!). I remember a journo asking him a few years back when we were losing at half time but won at FT if he had "thrown any tea cups", and Adkins winced and said "No, I never do that".

Incredible. You complain about people "burying their heads in the sand", and yet when given an actual opportunity to discuss the topic you'd rather pretend to be one of them, making it even harder for the original topic to be discussed.

Old news? It only came out at the end of last week, didn't it? The only thing I don't like about these blogs is the speculation that will now be taken as gospel (less than Ramirez earns in a week, "If this is something Southampton FC does regularly").

Gazzaniga was poor but in the interest of fairness, the header from Cisse that he supposedly "spilled" he actually did on purpose. Watch the sky match choice version where you see the full clip of that, he palms the ball down and lets the ball sit in front of him as there is no danger. Actually shows how calm and relaxed he is.

Probably doesn't like winding up the fans as a celebration. Puncheon did it at the half time whistle as well before running away to the other side of the pitch.

I did say arguably. Ramirez looks fantastic, but I haven't seen him do anything technically so far (little flicks, killer passes, long range shots) that I haven't also seen Lambert do at some stage for us.
