  1. It's because his head was already in Liverpool, the body is just catching up.
  2. Interesting game this. For Liverpool it will be like playing a newly promoted side, they won't know what to expect, tactically or technically. If we can surprise them, and the negative of not gelling isn't too great, we could cause an upset.
  3. I think people are confused here. Morgan had a meeting with the club in which he was told they weren't prepared to sell. Ralph then did some press and reiterated that. People are acting like the first Morgan heard of it was the press conference and that's incorrect. Personally I'm glad the club are standing firm. Unlucky for Morgan (should've been Lovren or Chambers) but it's provided some backbone.
  4. I suspect it is a game of dominos at the moment. Clearly we are willing to spend 10+ million on a CB, so are others. Man U are after Hummels. If they get him, then we have a chance with Rojos, if not we have Florin, if not Vlaar. Clearly Vlaar is an option but old and expensive. I expect deadline day will be busy for us.
  5. Excellent addition to the "Players with accents in their names" thread.
  6. Two words. Karel Poborsky. Legend in his own lunchtime.
  7. I suspect it's a Centre back beginning with V. If Rojo happens we don't go with V1, if V1 says no, perhaps we go V2. Simple.
  8. Whilst I hope you are correct, £120 on easyjet and a couple of nights in El Primero Inn are small beer compared to a €20m transfer. Fingers crossed.
  9. I disagree.
  10. Quite clearly not the role for Hernandez, that's what we've bought Pelle for. If it happens, Hernandez will run off the man.
  11. Note sure this is "of note". History is littered with the corpses of clappers, punchers and badge kissers (Prutton and Lallana for two). It makes jack all difference when the Champions League money truck rolls into town.
  12. And don't forget Lallana was already hoping he'd play for Liverpool when he ran out at Anfield.... Sent from my RM-892_eu_euro1_227 using Tapatalk

  14. The problem isn't that we've lost players, it is that we've not been in control of the situation. When you think of how Saints have progressed over the last five years with largely the same core of players, some turnover was inevitable. However, the boards job was to massage that, spreading it over a couple of transfer windows (bribes, loyalty bonus, iron fist etc.) I can only think that with the boardroom overhaul and inexperience in roles hasn't helped. Regardless of loyalty, I think the outcome would have been different with a certain Italian megalomaniac at the helm. Sent from my RM-892_eu_euro1_227 using Tapatalk
  15. "You've ****ed up our club, You've ****ed up our club. Our useless board members, Have ****ed up our club"
  16. I'm a generally positive person and, most often, support the board because I believe the job is harder than armchair football managers believe. However, I do think that the situation has snowballed from them, starting with Rickie, then Lallana and Lovren pushing for moves. I genuinely believe Les Reed meant what he said about "probably met with a no", it's just circumstances have moved on. The board have been weak, either by saying not for sale or by swapping in an immediate replacement. As it stands, they've lost the PR battle - with the fans, with the players and, most worrying, with potential recruits. The club has a whiff of crisis about it, justified or not, and that can't help retain our existing players or attract new ones. What I can't understand is why they haven't tried to stem this? I don't get the asset strip argument (why spend 20m and recruit a top drawer manager?) but nor can I explain the seemingly slow recruitment policy. I suspect Les et al have decided next season will be about rebuilding so don't expect anything spectacular. My worry is that with the upheaval, even that will be a big ask. 17. To be fair, as a fan base (apart from me), we've got a poor track record of judgement. Hoddle (2nd coming), "We've got our club back" (Wilde in), Pinnacle, Adkins out, "We've got our club back" (NC out)... And that"s before you get onto player judgements before they've kicked a ball. This fallout was inevitable when NC was ousted. MP, then the players who had been here for years; all destabilising making others want to leave plus (presumably) harder to recruit. That said, we've a warchest. Assuming this isn't an exit strategy then it will be spent to fill the gaps and hopefully strengthen. Pellevan and Tadic look promising but the other replacements seem to be slow to arrive. COYRs. Sent from my RM-821_eu_euro1_276 using Tapatalk
  18. I work in the corporate world = I work in an office I work in finance = I work in a bank I work in high finance = I work in a bank (on the fifth floor) Chambers is annoying but, of all the players sold, least surprising. We've strength in than position and he's been sharing the role with Clyne. If I was playing back up, why not do it at Arsenal on double the salary. That said, if Kat was a business genius she'd sell the assets, relegate the club to L1, climb the leagues again giving young players a tonne of experience on the way and repeat. I suspect though it's not some plan, rather a domino effect of layer power that is causing this. Disappointing, yes. Deliberate, no. Avoidable, can't see how. 19. I hear we're offering 2m for that Lambert bloke and are in for Sterling(£7m). Have some of that Scousers.
  20. Liverpool are guilty of shopping by tabloid but, as said, it happens all the time. What they have done, planned or unplanned, is to destabilize the club by going for the easy target (local boy Lambert) first. It's a house of cards from then on in. To be honest though, this situation was utterly predictable once Cortese walked/pushed. Too many players sold a dream, too many players who'd been here a while, and a manager who had a bond with the chairman and the players. It's a bit of a joke because, without Suarez, LFC will struggle to hit the heights they hit this year. I'm not sure how we arrest the slump except by persuading Lovern / Morgan to stay one more season. That seems unlikely by some of the press comments. Sent from my RM-821_eu_euro1_276 using Tapatalk

  22. To be fair, I'd rather she quit moaning about her phone charger and make sure the stitching on the new kit is straight.
  23. The only reason it is on hold is to allow Saints to complete a signing, probably Pelle, to sugar the pill of AL leaving. It's sad that the dream had to end here but the decimation of the team isn't surprising. It's not as a result of one factor, rather a combination of many of those mentioned - not least our remarkable rise. Best result for me is we persuade Lovren and Morgan on the basis of "one more year", allowing us to consolidate. As someone said, signing too many players is disruptive, just look at Norwich last season. Worrying times. Sent from my RM-821_eu_euro1_276 using Tapatalk
