  1. It's a **** idea.
  2. The saga of shortness continues.
  3. A bit harsh on Frank Worthington, he was 36 when he came to us. He was great player but only ever played for middle ranking sides. However he was almost ever present for the season we came second, you cant get better input than that. We lost out on the title that year because we couldnt beat Notts ****in County.
  4. I don't listen to TS in the week day mornings and daytime so I can't comment on that, but I find the evening and weekend output to be fine. If you are after football chat and Five Live is covering something else then TS is fine, Danny Kelly is good. I would rather listen to TS on a 3 o'clock on Sat (I would rather be at the game) than Five Live; I prefer them constantly going round the grounds than 5L who have a live commentry and report on Saints goals 5/10 minutes out of date.
  5. ahemmm Rickie Lambert. We got him late and he had the best season of his career. I've just look at RL stats and despite his previous seasons showing it was more of a gamble buying him than I previously thought. It came off a blinder though, it just goes to show it is fine lines this transfer malarkey.
  6. Do I win a prize. You gotta love him.
  7. From what Ive seen of him i don't think he is good enough yet. I did read that players need a run of at least ten games to how their true potential, however there are players ahead of him so maybe a loan spell would be good. On another note Adam Lallana needs to step up this year if he is to fulfill his potential.
  8. Talk of it went on into the 80's, a merger with a new ground just off the motorway around Fareham. The problem was that Pompey were always in a lower division making a merger less attractive. I don't know how serious the talk was or how influential the talkers were.
  9. Turkish best wishes to you and your family, my father died last year after suffering the awful disease for 12 years, he had Parkinson's and DLB. One of the things we had together was football (he was as Plymouth fan) and I still think of all the games we went to, the special ones big and small. The 85 cup run was great, I would listen to the draw at school and he at work and each round we were hoping we would draw each other, but it didn't happen, we both got through to the semis and both got beaten. I know a few posters on here have been through the same. I will end this post with a slightly funny story. When my dad was still driving we went down to Plymouth to the match, it was a hair raising journey as he really should not have been driving. It was August time so the roads were packed and my Dad was getting more and more agitated as the clock ticked closer to three. We got to just outside Home Park and were hit with other jam, we then heard the cheer as the teams ran out and my Dad went mad, he screamed turned the wheel to the pavement, floored the car and dumped it on the side. We went and watched a good game, when we came out we noticed that he had parked the car in a flower bed half destroying a big bush and it had police tape around it and was being guarded by two coppers. My dad told me to wait on the corner, I watched as he walked towards the car more slowly than usual with his stick, he then showed the police his Parkinson's card. The police pulled back the tape, helped him in to the car and stopped the traffic whilst guiding him back on to the road, they then waved him off. That was his last trip to Home Park, I tried to get him down there for his 'last game' but he had lost his bottle, his last game had been and gone and we didn't know it. I went down there the other year for the fans reunited game in my Saints shirt and an old bloke came up to me and thanked me for coming, I'm not ashamed to say I just stood there and burst into tears, he must have thought I was a nutter.
  10. What is stopping any club setting up a team in any area, seperate from the club but with an 'informal link', any good talent is then 'transferred' to the mother club.
  11. Clyne , Shaw, Schneiderlin, Cork, Ramirez and Lambert.
  12. He is eligible to play for England through residency rules, although he restated recently his desire to play for France.
  13. So the window is open. Spend spend spend.
  14. Exactly, CB Fry is the first to jump on fans saying this stuff but thinks its fine for the papers, it doesn't stand up.
  15. machine
  16. We may not be a selling club in the true sense of the term, but these type of payers will continue to leave for bigger clubs. Arsenal and Spurs can't keep hold of their best players, they are not selling clubs but they are not the biggest fish in the pond either.
  17. It will be alright we have Alpines 'not spending soon enough' and 'we blew the summer transfer window' threads and his associated speculation of the Liebherr's intent to look forward too. We have loads of kit talk, a little bit of expansion talk, the odd posting of the Ted Bates statue and no doubt Turkish and his mates will think of something to tease us with all summer, the little tinkers and soon after all that has been exhausted the season will begin.
  18. Simples, jazz hands on the last line.
  19. We stayed up in Cardiff the night before and had a good night out, waking up on FA Cup Final day knowing you were in it was brilliant. The pub before hand with the balcony was great, when Coldplays Yellow came on it was rocking. I remember getting quiet upset afterwards, its wasn't just the result it was that the whole 'journey' (to use TV language) was over. All the cup matches, phone calls, planning and listening to draws was over, the plans for 'what to do when won' were never going to be put in action. I just drove back to my mums and curled up on the sofa and didn't move until Monday afternoon. It wasn't until a few days later that I was able to enjoy it. I can't wait until the next one.
  20. I held your banner in the away end on that game; I didn't have a ticket and I bought an away end ticket from a Coventry fan outside the ground and stood amongst a great bunch of people, they all knew I was a Saints fan and there was no bad feeling and we all left shaking hands. Its an absolute disgrace what has happened to your club, I have a work colleague who is a Cov fan and he has kept me up to date with the goings on and he like you just feels so powerless. Here's my idea start up an AFC Coventry and play in the Rioch on alternative Saturdays, encourage the fans to watch this team; creating a mass desertion and proving that a club is nothing without its fans. The happy ending is that SISU are then forced to sell then the fans can rejoin CC and disband AFC. After Brighton the FL said this would not happen again and it is, they must be aware of what is going on, but do they care. Good luck with your fight.
  21. Kone is the fella I like, big strong player with a good pass. Bit too much like Lambert though for us to be interested.
  22. Palace - Cannon fodder and easy to get to.
  23. I went to Aldershot v Brighton one year in the late eighties. I couldn't go with my mates as I had a driving lesson, when in the instructors car he asked me to turn left, but I went right and drove to the station and got out, my lesson lasted about three minutes. I eventually caught up with my mates enroute. In the away end the soliders were lobbing pieces of **** over the fence at us, followed by a good chasing back to the station. Happy days.
