Kevin Keegan in 1980 Peter Osgood in 1974 equaling the British record of a £270,000 fee and Charlie George for £400,000 in about 1978 was also considered a major coup at the time. These were deals we were out muscling all the other leading European sides. Nothing in recent years ha come anywhere remotely close.

When was the last time Liverpool lost three consecutive home games, all inside a week?

They really do seem seem bitter about our EFL cup success. Iv'e been fielding taunts about their successes of long long ago for the last couple of days from my blue few acquaintances. The can't quite get it, that it is the present that counts.....

I wonder what the significance is that Lander are a construction company specialising is sporting stadia construction. Do they plan to rebuild St Mary's?

Surely the value of contracts i.e the television money guaranteed from Sky, must be part of the equation in determining the value of a football club. Going forward with parachute payments, that must be worth about £200m on it's own. Lets face it with a privately owned company like Southampton, the owner can in theory just pocket that money.

I think last night was all the sweeter, coming as it did over Liverpool at Anfield............

Surely you meant to say naturally a "Prem top four club" I have actually heard this said by a number of people...................

Hear Hear, and I imagine once the Chinese Super league has sucked in all the star players, the tv money will follow. I'm also wondering if the collapse in the value of Sterling against all the other major currencies is having it's effect on players wages now? Players who negotiated contracts when the pound was trading 20% higher!

Indeed, it wasn't for nothing that English teams were banned from Europe for 7 years, with an extra year on top for Liverpool. You hear little mention these days of this disgraceful episode in English football.

Do Saints get any money from the Schneiderlin move to Everton?
-
West Ham have now upped bid to £5m for Snodgrass, would seem to be a bargain for 29 yr old midfielder who can actually score goals......
-
and this is Saints related how?

I just keep wondering why they don't manage to make their huge crowd advantage, count financially down in that division. I see Hereford with average crowds of between 3,500 and on occasions over 4,500 are blowing away all competition in the ninth and eighth tiers of English football. It must take a special ineptitude with that advantage to remain rooted in the fourth tier of English football.

Don't forget Wham who've already lost.......

One thing someone might know, do the Chinese not have to abide by FFP rules, or is it only European clubs that are ham strung by that?
