We are leaving the EU, I think most have have accepted that. However I very much expect we will stay in the single market(which is not the same as the EU) At the same time paying a very much increased contribution to be in it , with no say what so ever on how it is run. In all probability we will also have to accept some form of freedom of movement. Nothing about freedom of movement on that referendum ballot paper!
Well, it is now just a multi million pound business for buying, developing and selling on players. Those of us who were brought up on football clubs striving to win honours, will struggle to maintain an interest. It used to be sport in those days, rather than a business.
We've got previous for spending loads on crocks who never ever then seem to play - Delgado, Charlie George, Perry Groves, Hirst and Osvaldo, just off the top of my head. And why shouldn't Alpine be allowed to express an opinion with out all the bullying he then comes in for? It is after all a forum.......
I think most our player exits pestered to go, just didn't hand in a transfer request. It's extremely unlikely (Osvaldo apart) any of them got their contracts paid up.
Much as i hate to say it, I think our defensive record over the last few seasons does owe something to the managers who have been in place during that period.
In retrospect not quite sure why Lambert is up there now. Ok, he scored a lot of goals in our five season journey from League 1 to the EPL, but in years to come he will be regarded just another journeyman. Bobby Stokes or Ron Davies might be more appropriate.
