Forren never really cost us much, we allegedly got back most of what we paid (not all but most). Bednarek will be OK in a couple of years, he is only 21 ish. Gardens wasn't a mistake, but his career was ruined by injury. He's also a very decent bloke and did more than most to acclimatise and make Southampton his home. Wish him good luck in the future, hopefully if will find a decent club probably back in Romania. Pied too, decent player, limited but always gave everything when he was asked.
-
He was usually easy to spot, hands on hips facing our goal watching opposition score as had been beaten again by average attacker. If Carling did worst left backs ever.
-
Austin was at Reading until he was 15.
-
Could have been better, as Kane's first penalty should have been re-taken as Emre Can was encroaching in the area (he was again for the second but not as blatantly).
-
Should be playing instead of Hoedt as well, this week Stephens, last game Hoedt yet Yoshida is on the bench. Need his experience to help the two youngsters.
-
Would have played Yoshida instead of Hoedt, problem is having to rely on Tadic and Boufal who are hopeless at creating this season. About time we tried Sims or even Hesketh.

Harry Lewis "I sat there thinking I was the worst keeper in the world, then I remembered Fraser Forster" :-)
-
I would take a punt on the guy called Osvaldo. What could possibly go wrong? Pele is a good shout as well, even if he is an ex-Skate.
-
So things could get worse. What a triumvirate. At least Craig Fleming and Danny Butterfield would have a better chance of doing something positive.

Is there anyone on here who wanted Puel out who now regrets it??
VectisSaint replied to OldNick's topic in The Saints
No. Puel was very poor at Saints, but did enough early on to secure a decent position, which made things look OK, but underlying was a very poor points total and terrible form after the LC Final. Lost the dressing room, played dull, uninspired football at the end of the season. Just because he is currently doing well at Leicesater with what is still largely the 2016 PL Champions squad and under very different circumstances does not mean it wasn't right to get rid. Different managers have different outcomes in different circumstances. Look at Koeman. It wasn't working and thankfully our bumbling Board could see that. What they replaced him with was of course a different matter, but that doesn't make it wrong to have taken action when they did. It will be interesting to see how Puel gets on next season, especially if Mahrez leaves. leicester's football is not exactly inspiring anyway, but their results are of course very good. -
Bertrand was in training pics released on Facebook (2nd picture). If I knew how to share a Facebook picture on here I would.
-
Yeah, imagine preferring to play for one of your home town clubs. Mad.
-
No thanks. Another couple of months till the weather improves sufficiently for him to feel like scoring goals. Too late by then, Chas should be back before that.
-
Will still be surprised if Cedric is fit.

Michael Obafemi - Official: Signs for Swansea
VectisSaint replied to SuperSAINT's topic in The Saints
Irish Nigerian, same as Obafemi. -
Would be odd if he wants him as cover for Cedric at RB, but he has been touted as a "nippy winger" or as a #10. Wouldn't impact our 25 man squad as he is u21. Can't see this really unless Pied is wanting out. Of course after yesterday Cedric may miss games with injury but can't see this was only something decided yesterday evening.

Its because they are organised and sanctioned by the same organisation, the Football Association, not because European games are treated differently. Much better this way, often can run a ban off in a less important cup game.
-
I would say even if one of his arms falls off. He may not be the best keeper in the world but compared to Desparate Dan he is Lev Yashin. Forster had an occasional blinder but otherwise he is not even average.
-
Gives the ball away far too often in my opinion, slows the play up and passes backwards too often when not necessary. Yes he has done well in the past but he has been awful this season, at least until the last few games.
-
Perhaps they intend to build a mezzanine deck

and they were right...

To be fair, apart from the Cup match, the Under 18s are actually doing pretty well this season, and especially recently (currently 4th in their section with games in hand on 2nd/3rd). The upturn in their fortunes seems to coincide with the arrival of Danny Butterfield to assist Craig Fleming. Whether he is the reason or just coincidence is of course open to debate.

You're right, explained in the report itself (not the Telegraph item). It is however massaged to some extent because of the way different clubs do their accounting. If yu want to read the full report it is available for download here: https://www2.deloitte.com/content/dam/Deloitte/uk/Documents/sports-business-group/deloitte-uk-sbg-dfml2018.pdf (56 pages) Commercial and Matchday revenue still way below the average for 16-20 place clubs. Only the Broadcast revenue really gets us in the Top 20.
