  1. Daughter's arrived this morning. They could save some money and packaging by sending together.
  2. Mine arrived this morning as well, but not my daughter's.
  3. Yep, you didn't see my 2nd post. Senior moment. Anyway Saints lost on pens.
  4. Doh, today's Thursday.
  5. What isn't clear from the BBC report is that while its true we stopped Man Utd qualifying for the top part of the competition, they still finished 7 places above Saints in the overall qualifying standings, as we also lost to Cherry Orchard (Dublin) and drew with County Antrim. Next up Middlesbro in the Bowl semi-final, was played yesterday but can't see the result anywhere.
  6. ...and appears to be injured again this season already. It looks like now we are relying on Gazzaniga as backup (not that I think that is such a bad thing, he is certainly as competent as Forster and arguably as a fit McCarthy) because our other keeper (Taylor) is a non-playing keeper, and has been for almost the entirety of his career. I really don't understand why the club continues to be so blind to the goalkeeping position.
  7. He was with us on loan, unlike Caceres. His loan ended, went back to Nice and now he has been loaned to Chateuaroux.
  8. Was expecting him to have been back today, given that he tweeted last week that his holiday was over. I guess though that as his last game in Russia was 2 July and JWP/Redmond's last game was 27 June end of this week is probably more likely. Its a real drag these delayed player returns after summer internationals, really messes up pre-season. In future it will apply to the Africans as well, though I guess thats better than the current January/February window.
  9. Strange to compare with Shaw, completely different situation. When Shaw made his PL debut, he was 17 years and 4 months, Jack was only 17 years and 3 months when we signed him from Argyle, it was hardly keeping him back from PL, he wasn't actually our player. Stephens also made his league debut when we were in the Championship (Coventry, away) so again difficult to "hold him back" from the PL limelight given we weren't in the PL then. But he has matured during his loan spells and at 23 is ready for the step up into the PL, and will, in my opinion, become one of the best CBs in the country in years to come.
  10. I thought we weren't allowed to agree with anything that Alex Crook writes.
  11. Two comments from Tom28's post (whether you believe he is ITK or not) that struck me, if it is true: - Fairly amicable meetings by all accounts given the circumstances and the fact that they basically hate each other. - Apparently, VVD has softened a little and would consider moving to another top club besides Liverpool. He's totally hell bent on leaving though. What happened after last summer to make LR and VvD basically hate each other? After all a year ago Virgil seemed very happy to sign a year's extension, get a pay rise and be promised the captaincy and LR must have felt the same way. I see this comment as implying their hatred for each other pre-dates the Blackpool incident, maybe I am wrong. Also why is VvD hell bent on leaving, why has he lost all respect for the Club, what is it that has made him this way, ths doesn't happen because he is offered a move elsewhere, you can get that and still think highly of your current employers. Something inside the club is not right but unable to put my finger on it. Not many of our players who have been sold in the last few seasons have left with good grace (SRL being the obvious exception), it is not just the money or the lure of CL football, they mostly seem to leave with a degree of bitterness.
  12. We could offer him a new one with a reduced pay and removes the captaincy. We could also reduce the length of his contract. He may not accept it but we could make the offer.
  13. Surely the homonyme period is over...
  14. There are zero accounts that he was fit to play end of last season. Why do people continue to post such absolute horse****. He is not "on strike" or working to rule. It is perfectly reasonable that he is still not quite ready for full involvement in a match but able to train with and without a ball.
  15. Why do we need another RB when we have Pied competing with and covering Cedric?
  16. He was very consistent last season.
  17. Correct. We also don't show the full transfer value when we sell, we only book the instalments paid in the financial year (most sales are made in instalments, very few transfers are paid in full in one payment). Conversely when we buy we show the full amount in the year in which we buy, whether we pay in instalments or not. This is "standard" accounting practice for football clubs, and makes it look like we have received less that we would think and paid more than we think. All the nonsense some on here write about net spend is just that, and unless they have access to the detail of the books, nothing much can be deduced from a single year's balance sheet, only over a period of several years can our net spend be accurately calculated.
  18. Given he was injured for the St Gallen match that's not really surprising.
  19. Probably about the least likely outcome. Would need to be able to tackle, intercept etc. He has some good attributes, but not those.
  20. Perhaps it's because he wasn't in the team that day. Clearly faked.
  21. The Sun, the paper that is almost banned in Liverpool. Probably about the least credible source for such a story.
  22. Guess you are getting mixed up with Redmond. Redmond, Cedric, Prowse, Stephens and Targett back tomorrow I believe.
  23. You cannot re-open something that was never opened in the first place. Typical Yahoo crap, though to be fair it is only the headline that says this rather than the article by Kevin Palmer.
  24. Harry Lewis signs a new 3 year deal and goes to the Terrors on loan. https://southamptonfc.com/news/2017-07-14/harry-lewis-new-southampton-contract-dundee-united-loan
