If Boro want him and offer him something sensible and no-one else offers him more then they will probably get him. Anyway with the new TV deal Boro like any other PL team probably can afford to pay him what we did (if they are mugs).

Completely agree. Rose was running circles round him yesterday for the first 15-20 minutes, only the backup of Fonte prevented more damage being inflicted (and yes Fonte made one awful mistake). His defensive positioning is awful, and his attacking support is very hit and miss (yes he has made some cracking passes). Cedric seems to be out of favour and I guess he will be moved on, to me this is our main weak position, and must be a priority to improve for next season. Jason McCarthy has been playing right back for much of his loan spell, I wonder if we could start to feed him into the team next season, I really don't think he would be any worse than Martina.

My understanding too, but as I don't go back to those times I cannot say for sure, certainly when I first started going in 1966 the dislike for and rivalry against Spurs was well ingrained. The Chivers transfer only intensified that dislike, although he really had become surplus to requirements with Big Ron and Mick. We still got the thick end of £125k in the deal, which was a transfer record at the time (doesn't sound much now does it?) and Frank Saul wasn't the worst player in the world, or even the worst we signed from Spuds (Forecast).

Nasty gash, wasn't the most reckless challenge by Dale Stephens but still not very nice. Made Boro's goal that earned them promotion with a great free kick. Has been very influential in Boro's form since January. Will be interesting to see if Boro sign him now.

Didn't he bring in Lovren and Wanyama as well as Osvaldo? He didn't really need to bring many in did he? It was only after he left that we needed to bring in lots of players.
