  1. You beat me to it
  2. Anyone listening to the 3rd Half. Did I hear right that Dave was thrown out of (asked to leave) the Mick Channon suite, even though many of the people there were his guests. He is absolutely fuming about it, quite rightly. This Club under Lowe really is sinking to new depths if this is true. I am embarrassed to be associated with this Club under its current regime, a legend like David Armstrong thrown out of the corporate areas. FFS.
  3. Football Managers are not necessarily too bright (bless them, at least in most cases), they will still jump at the chance, believe me. The only one with intelligence who probably would say no, is Iain Dowie.
  4. People have to get out of this mindset. If JP went now (as he surely must), and Lowe advertised for a manager, there would be a dozen or more good applicants, guaranteed. Whether any of them could work with Lowe is a different matter, but football managers all believe they can do the trick and turn a team's fortunes around. The problem is not alternatives, the problem is the arrogant, tosser who is chairman of this club and who will destroy it (or at least get it relegated to Div 3).
  5. Its difficult to imagine even Lowe could find anyone worse than JP, unless he took over himself. OK, see what you mean.
  6. Another deluded lister. How did Crouch increase our debt between Dec 2008 and May 2009? You are confusing Crouch with Mike Wilde and his gang. They are the ones who increased our debt, not Crouch. Crouch put several measures in place to do just the opposite, including loaning out Rasiak and Skacel, putting in place the plans to close the corners, and instigating the transport changes. Unfortunately LC as Chairman running the Club is not really an option, he didn't do it before because he knows his limitations, he had the help of Lee Hoos, the only one of Wilde's bunch who had any skill as far as I can tell (after all he is now gainfully employed in a similar position at Leicester. Leon needs a man who can run a football club and sadly the person who we had for that role was forced to leave.
  7. Equally, if 4 of our 5 opponents in our away wins this season had scored 1 more goal we would be bottom of the table with just 2 wins all season.
  8. Hopefully he won't play this weekend then
  9. One But now he's probably suspended by the club because of his comments, bit like him being "injured" for the game before his suspension.
  10. They'll have to reduce the prices in Division 3 anyway won't they?
  11. We've already signed Kack haven't we?
  12. I bet you won't do this again will you Some people never satisfied. Can we have a poll for the C team? How many subs will there be, I think I would like Keegan to come off the bench for the A team, should I vote for him in the B team, or will that mean we will be stuck with Brett Ormerod instead
  13. Midfield would get completely overrun. Better option would be to have Oakley and Surman. Up front Beattie and Jones are too similar in my opinion.
  14. One word, money Most players would rather earn a good wedge playing reserves or not playing for a big club, rather than be paid peanuts at a lower league club.
  15. So you don't think the difference between our home form and our away form has anything to do with tactics then? Nothing to do with playing one up front against teams that come content to get a draw by playing 5 across the middle to stifle what creativity we may have. Why would it make any difference how full the stadium is, have you seen some of the attendances when we played away? Half empty stadiums then as well. Did we do well against Forset or Manure? This myth that it is lack of bums on seats that affects our players is another one that has to be dispelled. Most youth/reserve team players who are now in the 1st team would be more used to playing in front of one man and his dog, so maybe the problem is that there are too many people attending SMS, so a boycott might actually help. By the way, haven't looked at this thread for a while, I support the idea of a boycott, but a boycott on its own is pointless, it only works if those actively boycotting still go to the stadium and protest OUTSIDE. If not there is no boycott.
  16. At least all these other teams recognise they have a problem and make an attempt to do something about it. But of course Lowe knows best, and like Donny he will preumably stick with his manager until we are in the third division and administration. It is quite shocking that most people would take almost any one of the managers (except Roeder) recently sacked at the other CCC clubs rather than our semi-professional 4th rate nice but dim coach. I just pray that even Lowe will see the light before it is too late, at least there are a few out of work qualified, experienced British managers out there looking for a job.
  17. Poor coaches. Just like Burley (but not as bad in that respect). What do you expect when you employ inexperienced semi-amateur coaches from a league that has no need for great physical fitness.
  18. We also lost a loan player that we had agreed to keep (Pearce), hence his replacement by Saeijs. Also lost some other loans that frankly were a waste of space (Robertson & the guy from Spuds), thought we were getting Dyer back (questionable whether good or bad) but saw him shipped straight out again to another of our rivals. In addition we seem to have also kept Wotton even though he had reportedly gone to Brighton. Its all been a bit bizarre to be honest, but apart from Saga's welcome return not much has really changed.
  19. Close but no cigar. It was "W Connection", the W stands for Williams the name of two brothers who founded the club. Evidently he previously played for the gloriously named Joe Public FC
  20. Tha Latvian Michael Owen. How prophetic was that, both sadly always injured. Never forgive Rory Fallon for that tackle at Swindon pre-season. Thug.
  21. Would love to see a breakdown of points per game (1) with Snodin and (2) without Snodin. I would be reasonably sure that "Burley's" record is boosted by the presence of one of the best assistant managers around. Burley is and was crap and we would already be in Division 3 if he had remained until the end of the season. Overweight, unfit players, says it all, Burley as a manager was useless, but not the worst, I still say that honour goes to the current incumbent (nice bloke though :yawinkle:). BTW it took Lawrie 4 seasons to get back to Div 1, not 3. And one of the reasons he got some of the highest calibre players was because he was one of the highest calibre managers at the time and he enthused these great players to join Saints, thats a vital part of being a good manager, having the personalit to attract good players.
  22. Actually the thread title is most hated/or worst manager. So most hated is clearly subjective, about emotions etc., but worst can be a bit more objective, so the thread did not get hijacked.
  23. Most hated, difficult to decide between Arry, Burley or Branfoot. Branfoot was certainly hated by most Saints fans, he really had no redeeming features, with the one exception that even he did not get us relegated. I loathe Burley, he really is a major factor in where we are right now, and even if statistics might show he has a high points ratio, most of this was gained when he had the support of Snodin as assistant. But my winner is Arry. The lovable ****ney is the most annoying **** I can think of. Worst - differnt list, though Branfoot and Burley would be candidates. I don't think Arry could be considered worst, he clearly does have some management skills as he has ably demonstrated at every other club he has been at, strange that. Don't think Wigley really counts, was he really a manager? I think my vote would go to Jan Poortvliet. The most clueless manager I have ever seen at SFC (nice guy though). He is cetainly well on his way to becoming the first manager in over 50 years to take us down to the 3rd level. I certainly don't hate Hoddle for his time at Saints. While he was with us he was actually very good and was instrumental in turning us into a good team, WGS carried on the good work, but Hoddle laid the foundations. It was unforgiveable how he left, but his abaility and what he did for us in the short term should not be forgotten. How much of that was down to John Gorman we will probably never know, but it is very clear that all of Hoddle's success has come when Gorman has been his right-hand man. His spell at Wolves without Gorman indicated to me that they come as a pair.
  24. Quiz Ball, bloody hell had forgotten that. Never did like Gordon Jackson There really are some saddos out there, who would post all the results of Quiz Ball on the web? FFS get a life (but thanks anyway, found it quite interesting, I'll get my duffle coat now).
  25. Can't say I've heard of many of the others (Wilshere and a few others but not many). Seems like a list plucked out of the air of "players no-one has heard of so might be OK". Clearly whoever compiled the list has never seen McG play, or they would not mention his all round ability.
