What happened to the kid we were supposed to be getting on loan from Everton. Can't remember his name, but was supposed to have been training with us already. Has the deal collapsed?
-
Does it still exist? If so what stance did it take at the recent AGM? I assume Wilde withdrew his proxy to the Trust at some point. Had high hopes for the Trust when it was set up but it seems to have become a meaningless, or at least very low profile organisation.

Hope you've got your Santana prescription
-
So that will be Bolton then. Pompey will be in the CCC..

Given Robertson and Peckhart have gone, we don't actually have too many options. If it was down to me Saga would start with McGoaldrought playing behind him.

New Year Messages for Michael Wilde here please
VectisSaint replied to Big Ron fan's topic in The Saints
I refer you to my message to Rupert Lowe, with brass knobs on. -
Comparison of Robertson with Lewis Hamlton is indeed a bit stupid. You do know that Lewis is almost 24 (4 years older than Robertson) and has been driving since the age of 6. Probably has more experience than most people in their mid-30s. If a few more kids actually spent some time driving karts under controlled conditions and experiencing the speed and car control long before they were allowed on the public roads, we probably would not have half the problems we have with young drivers today. Sadly long gone are the days when you learned car control in a farm yard or a field or on a disused airfield, nowadays kids get their licence and think they know how to drive. Anyway, take back some of what I said. I read the press report that he was driving a Merc sports car. In hindsight a CLC180 is about as like a sports car as a Ford Fiesta. It was probably a diesel as well
-
Guess you are a young inexperienced driver as well then. If you don't think experience behind the wheel counts, then God help anyone on the road when you are around. Kids driving Merc sports cars should not be tolerated. Now feck off and learn to drive, ****.
-
Be a good chap and feck off. Go play with Wilde in some far flung land or Channel island, and don't darken our doorstep again, you evil, ignorant, pompous ****. Please tak your third rate Dutch coaches with you as well, they are nice boysh but have no business working in a professional league. Thanks PS - if you could take the picture of the ruddy train and shove it up your arse before you leave that would be much appreciated. That will enable us to replace the picture of someone who actually did some good at this club.

Oh yes it is [the pantomime season has started already has it Windows?] The valuation of a company can be very significant, in terms of borrowing ability and so on. A 10% drop in value would be considered very significant in the financial markets for most companies. It may not be so significant for SLH plc, but nevertheless do not dismiss it so lightly.

Why, even Lowe has occassionally chosen a decent manager, though it may be more by luck than judgement. Let me list all the good ones he has selected: Strachan, hmmm Maybe you're right [Actually I would have had Sturrock back at this level like a shot, he is only crap in the PL]. I guess Hoddle, no lets not go there.

Dyer loan ended at weekend - reporting back for training "in New Year"
VectisSaint replied to trousers's topic in The Saints
He comes from Trowbridge. Living in Sheffield would seem like paradise -
According to the newspaper article Saints are quoted as saying the loan agreement was terminated after he last played for us on 13th December. If that is true, then he would not have been travelling down the M1 in connection with Saints. You might take into account that he had probably been visiting his family for Christmas Day, after all he was not training with us as he had finished with us 12 days earlier. Seems very odd to me that despite his agreement having terminated the OS still reported him as being in the squad for Plymouth until the news of the accident broke. All a little bit fishy. Unfotunately tragedies like this happen when inexperienced drivers get behind the wheel of cars they should not be driving at their age. Because of the money footballers get paid these days they can afford the incredible insurance that normal joe soaps would not be able to afford. We've all done things like this over the years, but with experience most of us can exercise such manouevres in relative safety thanfully. Condolences to the family of Mr Mohamed.
-
It is because he is here as cover for Killer. It just about says as much on the OS. Hence it has been extended until Killer's likely (or unlikely) return to "fitness". So stop speculating as to the reason and tearing metaphorical lumps out of each other.

Its not totally academic. It means the club is "valued" 10% less today than it was yesterday. Thats quite significant.
-
With Bristol being bigger than Manchester, I think it can cope with having the Gasheads as well.
-
It was an arranged marriage...
-
Ok, so I got it wrong. Must be more plastics out there than I thought :yawinkle: Still doesn't alter the fact that we won't make a shed load of cash out of the game, unless we can get a draw. I guess the 2/6d from Setanta will come in handy.
-
Delgado? OK, maybe not. Pity really, he should have been a success.
-
Why are we continuing to defend the away fans end in the second half.
VectisSaint replied to derry's topic in The Saints
In order to choose ends don't we have to win the toss? Maybe our captain is not much of a tosser. Perhaps we should let one of our Chairmen do that part, either of them, both of them are tossers of the highest order. -
BC fell a lot further than we have done so far since their days in the top flight, they have also recovered from a worse financial situation than we have so far faced. BC may not be a huge club, but Bristol is a much bigger city than Southampton (twice the size, th biggest city in England) and potentially could support a top flight football club, its just that it tends to be more of a rugby city. Good news about Pearce. I think the OS hints at why it is only another month, he is here as cover for Killer. Suggests the Club expect Killer to be fit by end January at current rate. Think Pearce is the only other potentially successful loan other than Cork. Even Pearce has not been an unqualified success, but does have the potential to be good at this level, and is a threat in their area. BBC explains what happened with John, there was an informal agreement to extend the loan if it worked out, and clearly that is what has happened. Think we have treated last season's top scorer rather shabbily, but nothing surprises me with Lowe in charge.
-
Why do people persist with silly remarks like this. What you are saying is that JP is the best option out there who will work with Lowe. Why? There are plenty of others who would work with Lowe in the same circumstances, but who are better coaches than JP, who has no experience in a proper professional League. Others could bring not only an improvement with what we have, but also help Lowe bring in some free transfers and loans who could actually help the situation because they understand the English game. So far the only really successful loan we have is Cork, I might be persuaded on Pearce as well, otherwise, waste of time, the lot of them. Thats why JP and MW are of no use. There is fundamentally nothing wrong with the majority of our team, but they are not suited to playing the JP way, and the JP way is not suited to the CCC.
-
FFS, we all know yesterday was a good performance, and is to be applauded, well done to the lads. But don't let it paper over the cracks. It was still 2 points dropped at home, and continues the trend that we have only won ONE HOME GAME all season. That is an appalling record by anyone's standards. We are now 23rd in the League. So come on, take off the rose tinted specs and see yesterday for what it was, a bright spark, but in the overall scheme of things yet another indication that we will be relegated under JP. To accuse Alpine of being inconsistent is one of the stupidest remarks. We may not always agree with Alpine, but actually he is usually right, and one thing he is always is consistent in his comments. He does not change his mind based on an odd result, but like most sensible people looks at the overall trend and makes judgements thereon.

At the current time, I am really less interested in getting rid of Lowe (and Wilde) than getting rid of JP. Getting shot of Lowe and Wilde must be an aim, we will never prosper or improve while they have the reigns. BUT, unless JP is replaced pronto, we will not even be in this division next season, and then the problems get even worse, or maybe even terminal. It is clear that anyone with an ounce of sense could do what Lowe is doing cost-saving wise, indeed most of what is being done was actually put in place by Lee Hoos and Crouch. Lowe has brought nothing to the table in terms of far-sighted ideas of turning the plc around, he has just implemented what anyone else would have done. He is no financial genius (indeed many would argue very strongly that he is financially incompetent). The one BIG mistake he has made is employ a third-rate foreign coach who has no idea how to manage an English 2nd division team, and no idea how to motivate young players. Get that sorted and at least we have a chance of survival, then we can think about the longer term. I imagine thats why Leon did not put forward an alternate proposal, the only alternative at the moment is a new manager.
