  1. Protocol/guidelines say a player should not return for at least 6 days following a suspected concussion, so likely that Stu would not have been available tomorrow whatever the seriousness. The question that should be asked though is why was he allowed to carry on playing last Saturday. Did he actually leave the pitch to be assessed by a doctor? I haven't seen the incident so just asking.
  2. But he wasn't between the ball and the keeper, that's the whole point. Line of sight from keeper to ball would not have in luded his legs whi h were flat on the floor, his body, upright was way off line. The camera angle from behind the right hand post showed clearly he was not in line when you take account that de Gea was standing up. Line of sight doesn't go from the keepers feet.
  3. It didn't run under his foot at all, he moved both of his feet out of the way while he was sitting on the ground. Whitey is spot on with his observations, this should never have been offside. The vital point people seem to be missing when talking about line of vision is the third dimension. Gylfi was sitting on the floor, legs outstretched, only his legs were in line, while de Gea was stood up (admittedly slightly crouched), no was was he unsighted by Gylfi. Usual bias to big teams, no way was decision going against United.
  4. Some posters on here don't seem to understand that many of the teams below us have to play against other teams below us. That means both teams can't get 3 points. Basic stuff, incredible that it needs pointing out on what is supposed to be a football forum.
  5. Glad you confirmed this, I was beginning to think that I had dreamed this reading some of the absolute garbage being written on this thread by some of our hard of thinking posters. Too many people judge our whole season on a single performance (usually the last one). We don't do well against teams that bully us and are direct. West Ham and Burnley are two such teams (not sure I can think of many others like that). Of course we aren't safe (mathematically), but then we also still have a chance of runners-up in the League. We had a gap after last week of 10 points over the bottom 3, the chances of anyone closing a gap of 10 points in 10 games is almost nil (as well as other teams closing smaller gaps), yesterday was just a natural to-ing and fro-ing of the gap. We have a pretty easy run in (a tricky bit in the middle).
  6. Funny, thought we beat Villa last week. Was that a dream?
  7. Painer was/is President of Southampton FC (Honarary)
  8. Might be right if they paid us a substantial loan fee instead.
  9. Savage and Carragher by far the worst. Lawro and Danny Murphy get (dis) honourable mentions.
  10. So just about everyone then ?
  11. If its truly Player OF THE SEASON then there is no argument, Ings. He was the only bright spark when things were looking bleak. There have been a few who have shone in the last couple of months, Armstron, Stephens, JWP but none have been good for the entire season so far. Armstrong and Stephens weren't even in the team early on, JWP was absolutely awful back in late Autumn. Credit to all three who have turned things around massively but they don't deserve Player of the Season.
  12. You really believe Fonte didn't play because he was being rested? Nothing to do with Les pushing him out having promised VvD the captaincy. Well, each to their own I suppose.
  13. My view is that a 10 point gap to the bottom 3 represents safety. Depending on today's results that could be today.
  14. Nope, he's primarily a central defender who can operate as a RB or LB or even as a wing back. The confusion comes about because he often operates on the right side of a back three, but there is absolutely no doubt that his primary position is as a stopper, not a full back.
  15. German (Bavarian) idea actually (Ruhmeshalle, Munich)
  16. He'll go to Leicester
  17. Osvaldo returns http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51536036
  18. Yes but you don't seem to see how ridiculous you sound. What do you think we should do, give the ball away to get the possession down. You can't play low possession against some teams. What you say is undoubtedly true, we get better results when it is us counter attacking, but you can't make the opposition play to our strengths. That's why Dyche has us sussed.
  19. There you go ?
  20. Beat me to it
  21. Thought Redmond was out for 1-2 months. Don't reckon he'll start v Villa. Be surprised if Boufal is fit either.
  22. So much for being told fully fit team. No Redmond.
  23. They will almost certainly have their punishment suspended pending the outcome of the appeal. Reasonably sure City will still play in Europe next season.
  24. Lawrie Mac brought him ba k from Werder Bremen and he played 2 seasons for us, two of our best, we finished 6th and 8th. Great defender, sad to hear about his health.
  25. Why do you think anyone who hates Johnson is (a) a lefty or (B) likes or supports Corbyn. The majority of the electorate did not vote for NeoTories, just like the majority of the electorate did not vote for Brexit.
