  1. If we stay up he will stay, if we get relegated he won't. Judging by what I have seen of him, he will be in the England squad for the World Cup in 2014. He is that good. Cole has been very lucky with injuries but he is getting older, and his form is certainly not as good as previous years. Baines is an excellent player but I remember issues around home sickness etc. Even if not true there does seem to be a perception that this is a problem. Shaw is one of the best young players I have even seen, he is much more advanced than Theo, Ox or even Bale - if he continues his development he will be a world beater, I just hope he remains our world beater
  2. What annoys me more than anything is that it perpetuates the idea that football supporters are brainless thugs. We all know that there are idiots in every walk of life, but time and time again some drunken chav lets us all down! I doubt that if the same period of silence had been held at Twickenham last week, you would have heard anything other than total silence. I do agree that these 'minutes/periods of silence' are getting too frequent, but in this particular case I think it was fair enough - whether to commerate the Brazilian Club fire (If it had been in the UK, there would have been uproar if the they hadn't done something), or to remember Bobby Moore.
  3. Once again I take immense joy in explaining to colleagues, friends, family and total strangers of the twists and turns of this epic saga.... Obviously I take a lot of pleasure in it being the Skates that are involved in this, but that has now become secondary in how I view this all. The fact that hundreds of businesses, run perfectly well but struggling under the weight of the current economic climate have failed - excepted that it wasn't meant to be/pay off who they can and put their hands up and said 'sorry, we just can't go on like this'. I hope many of these people will dust themselves off and try again, maybe learning from their mistakes and building a successful business next time around. However the barstewards down the road have cheated and lied, not paid a single penny of the £120,000,000+ owed to creditors and all the while whinged and moaned about it being unfair! They don't deserve any sympathy, they don't deserve any help - they should rot and die, but only after Saints get one more opportunity to beat them, humilating them and for one last time show why our club, despite our occasional problems, is a beacon of light in comparison to the Skates and their dirty insignificant existance.
  4. Seriously how hard is it to shut your gob for 1 minute? Plenty of numpties at England v Brazil shouting their mouths off. Disgraceful...
  5. I have said it before but......Ha f*ckin' Ha!!!
  6. Sorry but that has just led to several people looking at me as if I am bonkers! Burst out laughing in the middle of the office. This picture plus the Chris Huhne joke nearly put me over the edge!
  7. I always assume the worst when playing against the big clubs. My new tactic is to avoid all coverage until last 5 minutes, then see the damage. It means I don't p off the wife/wake the baby/annoy the neighbours with loud swearing. Probably a regulation 3-0 defeat, hopefully with no injuries - rest up Ricky for the main event on Saturday.
  8. 2-0 to Notts County...... Lolz!
  9. Pompey losing! Haha haha
  10. To be fair, if I was a young Brazilian flair player I would have to seriously think about leaving Inter (one of the biggest clubs in the world). Despite some of our delusions of grandeur we aren't anywhere near the level of Liverpool in terms of pull. If he does sign, it will be probably because we offer him a decent deal and there are relevant clauses if we get relegated etc. I still think we may get him, but it will drag out rather than be sorted quickly.
  11. Understandably a lot of people are upset and angry about NA getting the boot. I am one of them, however people suggesting that we as supporters should boycott, boo or undermine the manager are wrong. If people want to show their support for NA, may I suggest sending a letter. Cortese will no doubt have understood that this decision will be unpopular with a lot of fans and I am sure some will make their feelings known on Monday night. However I just hope that after maybe 5 minutes we get behind the team and let them get on with keeping the club in the Premier league. Also Hypo, if you actually want the club to be relegated then I suggest you go and support the jokers down the road! A ridiculous statement which is obviously posted in the heat of the moment. I am not defending Cortese, if we do get relegated then the blame will clearly lie at the feet of the Don. But even then, I will continue to support the club and the players.
  12. I agree, but wouldn't it be nice for Ricky to travel to Brazil in the summer! Sir Ricky Lambert, hero of the Maracana??? I know I am in the realms of fantasy... Shaw would be a good bet for the next set of qualifiers though.
  13. F****** BEAUTY! GET THE F*** IN! £5 on its way to me from Chelsea supporting colleague. He was so confident, he gave me the draw! Love it....shame we couldn't have nicked it. God I love this club!
  14. Just got some very strange looks from colleagues as I nearly destroyed another keyboard at work....managed to utter one word through the laughter and tears of joy....Pompey! They all just smiled a knowing smile and got back on with their work...
  15. What is 'impressive' is that they have managed to avoid any detection for over a week. Bar the images of both of them on the ferry there has been no concrete sighting (apart from some random women in The Sun). He is obviously not using a credit/debit card as the companies would be able to track the use of the card. They don't have their mobiles as they were confiscated by police, ironically if they did have them, they would have been caught by now - can track them.
  16. Always found it very annoying when we lost to Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal etc - having to go to school on a monday and get loads of abuse. Living in Gloucester meant that I was also surrounded by Villa fans, grand delusions that they are/were a big team. Quite enjoyed Saturday night sending a few texts out, unsuprisingly I didn't get many friendly responses - and when I did they seemed more interested in the Birmingham game
  17. Hypo, just a throw away line. As you say, no-one has suggested that. It is an interesting topic, organisations such as the FSF are useful to have around, if nothing else they often have decent contacts within the media and can lobby and bring issues that effect fans to a wider audience. If these issues get press, something is normally done. In terms of Saints, as I stated previously - we just need to be constructive rather than moan and whinge for the sake of it etc. I think we probably agree with each other on most Saints things, I maybe slightly more optimistic...
  18. On the subject of safe standing, I don't really see the point. FSF do tryto help fans and it is a bit poor that Saints haven't updated their website to include their club charter, but in the grand scheme of things this isn't the most crucial news about the club that we will see this season. As long as we constructively question what the club are doing (unlike the skates), personally that will do for me. Talking of which, have there been any candlelight suppers with the Don recently?
  19. I am not worried for two reasons: We have just played the top three from last year, yes the Arsenal game was not great but I did expect that we may struggle there. Our next 5 games are all winnable/we can pick up points Secondly we look like we can score goals, yes our defence is suspect at the moment but we have played 3 of the top 4 attacking teams and Wigan. If we had taken our chances against Wigan we would have won. Plenty of time, very much like the beginning of the -10 points season the first win will be the spur for the rest of the season.
  20. I don't have a problem with Reading or their supporters. Yes it was funny when they all came out of the woodwork at the end of last season, but tbf I have met lots of 'Saints' fans in and around Gloucester since we were promoted that were nowhere to be seen two years ago! The only set of supporters (other than the Skates) that I really have no time for are the Plastic Mancs who refer to themselves as the collective 'WE' when discussing Utd and the teams results/performances. You know that these people have not even set foot in Manchester, let alone been to a game.
  21. http://marching-back.blogspot.co.uk/2012/09/gutted-is-understatement.html It has taken me a week but I finally got round to re-watching the game and finishing off my latest blog. I still defer to the brilliance of LeagueOneminus10 - it never fails to make me laugh
  22. Everton at home in 2005...sat in a pub in Swansea with two or three other Saints fans. No-one said anything for about an hour, then my best friend said..."We're gonna get relegated, aren't we?" Everyone just nodded. Derby in the playoffs was horrible, but I felt proud that night we did everything we could to win it. The game on Sunday was bad, the only difference was that I felt it was coming (it is Utd and they always do that etc etc) so the pain was short lived. The most gutted I have ever been while watching a match live was Villa at home in 2005. 2-0 at half time only for Lee Hendrie (of all people) to spark Villa back into life and win it 3-2. I knew we would go down then, I can still see Olivier Bernard NOT TRACKING BACK!!! The lazy c***!
  23. I am sure I read that our agreement with Umbro is up at the end of the 2012/13 season.
  24. Ramirez, woah, Ramirez, woah He comes from Uruguay, His Mum makes all the pies* Ramirez, woah, Ramirez woah! * In reference to Gaston coming from Fray Bentos -------------------------------------------------------------- Alternatively could we work in the Disney Gaston tune with new lyrics?
  25. Stoke is really full of ugly people!
