Thanks for raising this, it crossed my mind as well .... I'd be a YES. Can play at both CB and RB. Problem is that Fulham are playing him now, so would he drop 2 divisions?? And to answer the question above : he left because we were offered 3mil for him, so Rupee did the deal in a flash. So YES, Chris Baird, please come back home.

Now being RELEASED by West Brom, so a good target. -
They won't go bust, though. David 'Kid' Jensen to the rescue!!!

Final Position 2010/2011 [Poll?]
the saint in winchester replied to StuRomseySaint's topic in The Saints
I just hope no-one can find the poll and thread from the beginning of the season where we had to predict where we would end up this season. It was something like 10 games in, and at the time we were not doing much to even get back the -10. I predicted 'relegation places'! How wrong was I!!!! And happy to be proved wrong! -
With the latest article on the OS (ticket priority process) "encouraging" us to get along to SMS for the final home games, I would think we'd be looking at 23,000 minimum.

Pompey won't get parachute payments until 2012

So almost half of it will go the players and clubs owed money? I'd sooner see it paid to non-football creditors who NEED the money - the print companies, Pukka Pies etc -
Is there any money in it for us ..?
the saint in winchester replied to david in sweden's topic in The Saints
Who knows, nobody can forecast what will happen to Forecast? (boom boom) -
The papers say a 2 year deal, Krissy says 3 year, TDD is right - why not a 5 year deal for a 5 year plan? Include a review after year 3, by all means.

Final Position 2010/2011 [Poll?]
the saint in winchester replied to StuRomseySaint's topic in The Saints
Heck guys, you EXPECT us to come top next season? I'd put that down as HOPE for me. I EXPECT us to be challenging for promotion. Let's not set the level of expectation too high, or we can only be disappointed. If we go in as 1st is expected, 2nd is disappointing, 3rd is 'sack the manager', that will be transmitted to the manager and players, and they will play with pressure and fear. We could be setting ourselves up to fail like this. -
I liked it when he was off roaming the Dales with Compo and Foggy. If he gets in, will we have to wear tweed jackets with leather elbow patches?
-
That's because they WANT to work whereas so many here are more focused on benefits!

the saint in winchester replied to St Landrew's topic in The Saints
^^ I'd take that scoreline, f'sure (as Harry would say). We've all got to keep our pecker up if Hudders win tonight. Keep believing until we can't get enough points. Don't stopp belieevvvinnnn, hold on to your dreams ....... -
Or Southampton's Goal Machine aka Morgan Schneiderlin. :-)

Honorary Lions Fans for Friday Night..?
the saint in winchester replied to St Landrew's topic in The Saints
We're assuming Millwall will go all out for a win, rather than play for a draw in this one and exert themselves in upcoming games? Have to hope they have the stomach for a battle tonight, as I expect Udders will go all guns blazing. -
So, if we make the championship..

That would be my view as well. A little premature this thread. -
Adrian Durham is surely the most opinionated of them all. I did hear a little of the show live last night, driving home, and did hear the offensive piece the original poster refers to. A stupid line of reasoning to infer that Rickie Lambert is only a big fish in a small pond, and that low grade teams and their players shouldn't be allowed to play at Wembley as it downgrades the achievement of having played there - viz "if rubbish players like him can play there, then it shouldn't be allowed." I was driving, so had no intention of taking the bait and calling in. I simply found another station to listen to. The other night he was all "so where did all these 44k fans come from? they can't all be Saints fans." Had me answering back. "yeah they are, and there's another 20k who couldn't get tickets." I had a call from a market researcher last year who was calling on behalf of sports talk shows. She was interested in my feedback on output and was happy that I was prepared to name names. Asked me who I enjoyed and who I didn't. Didn't help much, though, as Durham is still on the airwaves. He's a contrary so-and-so, but as others have noted before, probably deliberately so, to stimulate reaction. If he's really like that in his private life, he must be hell to live with.
-
My only concern is if a Prem side offers us 5 mill in the summer - would Rickie want to go? Would we want to sell? More specifically, would Markus and Nicola want to sell? They need a return on their investment outlay, and a 4 million profit on Rickie would be tempting.
-
No. Thank you for asking.
-
Yes, we won the game with the best side we could put out. But out first choice side has to include Morgan and exclude Wotton. Surely.
-
Yeah, I read that too. And he is, like, 59 or something. Imagine never having travelled outside your county - ever!

Who`s in old London Town saturday night??
the saint in winchester replied to Langleysaint's topic in The Saints
Oooh you're a cheeky boy, aren't you? :-) I was on the 2nd floor, but I went up in the lift, not the stairs, and didn't look out the windows. FWIW, as you poisoned the audience against swapping tickets, I had to sit in the gods yesterday. I have pictures. :-) Thank you for your concern for my welfare. -
JPT Final - 28/03/10 - Travel Arrangements

Stayed overnight at Watford. Place was full of Carlisle Blue. One nutter refusing to pay to park in the nearest car park, even though there was no parking attached to the hotel. Had brekkie at the Wetherspoons. Again thought I had walked into one of their pubs. They didn't like me wandering round in my Saints replica shirt. Hey ho, we won. -
Same scenario, on the M25, in the slow traffic. That's what happens if you drink and can't get to the motorway services! :-)
