I think it's time to do the right thing for the player's career. Fulham wanted to buy him for £10M (or was it £15M?) a year ago, but we chose to retain him. He hasn't had the chance (or been able, depending on your viewpoint) to become first choice, so getting 5 games a season is no good for his development. He does need to be first choice somewhere. However, as Labibs comments above, I fear their offer now will be in the range of £5M-10M. At £10M upwards, we should sell him for the player's sake.

Hot off the press : 16:26CARRILLO SET FOR ARGENTINA RETURN Argentinian giants Boca Juniors want to give Guido Carrillo a route out of Southampton and back to his homeland. Sky Sports News understands they are among a clutch of teams interested in signing the striker this summer. Carrillo joined the Saints from Monaco in January 2018 while his compatriot Mauricio Pellegrino was head coach – but it has not worked out for the 28-year-old at St Mary’s. Carrillo has made just seven Premier League appearances and three more in cup competitions without scoring a single goal. It is understood there are also clubs in Spain, Italy and Mexico who have expressed an interest. Meanwhile, Southampton are not trying to sign the Fiorentina goalkeeper Bart Dragowski, contrary to reports in Italy. The Saints are not in the market for a new goalkeeper this summer with Angus Gunn, Alex McCarthy and Fraser Forster all still on the books.

Arsenal seem to want Ozil out. Just saying.

Why has this upbuilding thread floundered already? Come on ... * my granddaughter * my son and daughter * a baby's giggle * a cold beer on a hot day * a hot drink on a cold day * white wine * beer gardens * a late winner for Saints -
Maybe this? https://readsouthampton.com/2019/01/22/valery-could-represent-tunisia-at-senior-level/

Winchester. Can't hear anything from SMS, but then we have fireworks like every night - firework capital of the UK is Winchester

We're going Back to Black? (One for us Amy Winehouse fans)
-
Tend to agree. We have Ramsey, we also have Harrison Reed who can play RB. We are only looking for cover, not every game.

Esther McVey for me too. About time I fancied the Prime Minister. Liked her in the old days on GMTV. Us Wirrallites will stick together!!! -
Etheridge does look good. If Lossl going to Everton as #2, where does that leave our old friend Stekelenburg? Does he want to come back?

Sam Gallagher - Joins Blackburn: Official
the saint in winchester replied to Sergei Gotsmanov's topic in The Saints
It seems he's not going to get the chance here, sadly IMHO, so only right to let him further his career elsewhere, if that is the case. -
Even if he is better today, I doubt the club would want to slow down Valery's development. If Clyne would come to be backup, and stay within our wage structure and Liverpool lower their price tag, then it could be a go-er. But there are three IF statements in there.
-
Lossl going to Everton, I see. That's an odd one. Presumably as backup to Pickford?
-
Yeah, I was thinking Clyne should be an option for us, if Cedric is going to go. Trouble is we wouldn't see him as first choice, just as backup to Valery now. Palace - surely only if Wan-Bissake goes? West Ham - I don't even recall who is their RB now but they go for everyone, don't they? For us, £15M for a squad player would be excessive. Need a decent RB from the Championship or League 1, ideally.
-
Yes please. Don't bother to gift wrap him. Money on the table today, please. We polish him for 2 years then sell him back to Liverpool for £75M. Job's a good'un.

And what if the experiment proves that "FF CAN'T be relied upon"? Then we can't find a buyer for Forster, and we need to keep Macca as #2 to Gunn. That supposes Macca will want to stay and play 2nd fiddle. He was our #1 and may want to be #1 elsewhere. If he goes, we are likely to have to spend a few million on another keeper. Unless the #3 GK is ready to step up to be #2??
-
Hmm, Forster in goal, with Stephens in front of him ....what could possibly go wrong? Nah, we'll be fine. We'll attack all game anyway!!!
-
Very possible that Poch retains an interest in JWP. But would JWP want to go be a squad player at Totters, when he a first choice with us? He has probably come on the most of all the players under Hassenhuttl, so on balance I would be surprised if he wanted to leave us.

Ralph H - "this is the best league in the world; I am so glad I came here." If he can get transfer targets to think that to, we can get players in.

Chelsea looking at him with a £50M price tag. We wouldn't get a look in. But yes, take him over Ings any day. -

How do we get tickets for Monday? Nothing on OS. Just turn up and free entry? (he said hopefully)
