  1. This phrase is the key takeaway, and I don't understand what the objective was. Admittedly I only came in on 80 mins played (other commitments, not lack of interest) but in that final 13 mins we weren't trying to score. Whose decision was it to hold on for a point? Hughes said we should have gone for it, inferring the players weren't brave. I was listening on Talksport so not biased and they were amazed at our apathy to a win. One point is not enough in our circumstances. I would have preferred for us to go for the win in the final minutes and if they broke on us and scored, I could accept that, as we had to go for it. But to park the bus, I'm confused and embarrassed.
  2. Exactly. You can check my post history. I have been talking up Jakanovic for 9 months now, but he going to get up with Fulham (auto or playoffs) so that ship has sailed. We need to go for whoever doesn't go up in the playoffs and entice them over. The Derby manager? Time will tell.
  3. It would cost us nothing. Hull fan in office says we can have him back and he'll drive him down here. Adkins would be on my shortlist too. Yes, I know he was in the right place at the right time, having SRL, Lallana, Joy Rod and all .... but heck, I miss his positivity and commitment. That is sadly lacking,
  4. Was out of Solent area so had to listen to Talksport commentary. At least it's objective. They were stunned we were playing for a point. I was ok with keeping it tight for 85 mins but at some point you have to go for it. We are playing with fear crippling us.
  5. Can't disagree with the four nominated above link, McCarthy, Stephens, Austin, Reed (Harrison) - they are all on my keep list,
  6. Now that made me laugh!
  7. Interesting. It's clear he would want to be first choice next season. If Bertrand stays on, then he would prefer to be at Fulham. Fair enough. I hope we see him back here then.
  8. Rightly charged, but as you say it doesn't help us any. If they had fielded an ineligible player, the game would have been voided and replayed. That should be the minimum in these cases. Either that, or strike off any goals/assists after the offence. That would leave the final score 2-1 to us. I'll take that.
  9. Anyone think Graeme Murty could be an option? Out of contract at the end of this season. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/43789925
  10. I'd be happy with that. I'd rather see these players busting a gut than the current crop fopping around.
  11. Wow, good news, he is clearly a utility player at RWB and DM so will be useful to us next season, assuming his contract extends into next season??
  12. Curious approach. We are looking for players/staff that have experienced loss and disappointment before? And that's a good thing? Are we going to actively recruit losers next season? Anthony Pulis, we have a job for you!
  13. They are both too static to play together. Sims to play to give some energy, please.
  14. This has come up before, and the conclusion was that it helped our passing game, kept the ball whipping across the surface. Yeah right. Long may have scored yesterday if his standing foot hadn't slipped. I wish they would stop the watering. Leave that to the rain.
  15. Would it be wrong of me to hope they pick up a couple of injuries and suspensions tonight, and need a win next week to stay in Europe, prompting them to rest key players on Sunday? Oh heck, I seem to have joined the straw-clutching congregation.
  16. Similar memories being told on Talksport last night ... * ex- youth-player told of Wilkins would drive him home after the day, then park up and have a kickabout with the boys on the estate * Wilkins was staying at a hotel and a guy needed directions to a location. Wilkins left his group having dinner, walked out with the guy who was expecting some finger pointed directions. Instead Wilkins took the sat nav out of his own car and gave it to the fella (no indication of its return) Sobering stories reminding us of how we interact with others leaves a lasting impression. I was driving with tears rolling down my face. RIP Ray. What a thoroughly decent guy he was. No superiority with him, he treated prince and pauper the same.
  17. That made me almost spurt my tea on the computer screen
  18. After that performance and MH's comments about playing only those he could rely on, I/we expect to see team changes. If he sends out the clueless again, I shall be concerned.
  19. Let it go.
  20. Yes, I think you have picked the team I would go for too. 5 at the back when defending, but WP and McQ have the pace and drive to get forward to support attacks. Long to run them to exhaustion, Sims to be the potent threat.
  21. Exactly. Yoshida back in as captain. Can't understand why he has been omitted. Our best CB and certainly puts in the effort, leading by example.
  22. Not Charlie, his strike partner Mano 18:17GABBIADINI BACK TO ITALY? Manolo Gabbiadini wants to return to Serie A at the end of the season, according to reports in Italy. The striker has found himself on the margins of the Southampton first team this season. The 26-year-old is attracting interest from Bologna, but Lazio are the favourites to sign him, Alfredo Pedulla reports. Hope this is old news rehashed? Hopefully he gets a run in the side now and feels needed.
  23. Specialist coaching, Ducky, attention to detail.
  24. As a coach of the forwards, if his back could take it, yes I would. When to make the runs, how to conserve energy, I think he could advise our forwards. And as for penalty taking coaching, yes indeed.
