Bit of a bummer that Hudds don't play today ... Anyway, win tonight, go to 35 points, above Swansea and Hudds, and bite the fingernails tomorrow.
-
Actually, Colin, I think it's the opposite to that. If you read the Daily Record article, they like us. They note how we have cherished Wanyama, Van Dijk and Forster, and would like us to the successful buyer again - if he goes of course, they would prefer him to stay. Ross Wilson, according to the article, was at Hampden at the weekend to see him play vs Rangers.
-
I noted this on the Championship thread - let's not wait until summer; do the deal NOW. The lid is off the can, the cat is out the box. He's too talented to leave until summer. Offer a deal now.
-
Tom Rogic and Moussa Dembele at Celtic - yes please! Ross Wilson casting an eye over them with a view to a bid. Make the offer NOW! https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/celtic-star-tom-rogic-southamptons-12463120

And if we had opened up against Leicester and won by a late goal, we would be out of the relegation places now!
-
I fear that WILL be the approach. Like the Leicester game, play for a draw, don't risk the point. Then winner takes all against Swansea. Like you, I would rather go for the win against Everton to get the points advantage going into the Swansea game.
-
Agree with you, and add that I get more annoyed by those 'real men' who stay in the pub til kick off and stagger to the ground, getting to the ground 10 mins late, blocking our view while trying to find their seats through the alco haze, then get up again on 41 mins to go to the bar, come back on 52 mins, blocking our view again. And don't get me started on the swearers and abusers .... I'm not into vlogging and selfie takers, but each to his own. They're not the worst type of fan, despite the abuse you were given on the match thread.
-
I agree with that. I don't want to see us playing for a draw, like we did vs Leicester. If we go into the Swansea game level on points or behind them, the pressure is on us. If we can get 3 points vs Everton, and assuming Swansea don't win their game against Bournemouth, we go to Swansea 2 points ahead of them. Then the pressure is all on them. They looked poor against Chelsea, yes, but they will be targeting the game with us as a 'must win'. Go for the win against Everton, there's more to win than to lose. It would set us up for the Swansea game.

FA to consider sale of Wembley to Fulhams owner - £850m?
the saint in winchester replied to spyinthesky's topic in The Lounge
Seems an odd proposition all round. It's nowhere near Fulham and their fans were desperate to see the team play at Craven Cottage. Selling the national stadium? Is everything for sale at the right price? Do England go back to touring club stadia? Really don't like football pitches used for rugby, NFL, Crufts, tug of war or anything but football, but appreciate financial needs mean it may happen. -
I'd go similar. --------------McCarthy Cedric----Bednarek---Yoshida---Bertrand ------JWP------Hojbjerg ------Long------Tadic------- Gabbi ------------Austin------------------- I don't see any point keeping jewels on the bench, we have to go balls-out for the win!!

....because it's subjective, all opinion. What is Man City's best side, do we know? Does Guardiola know? Keep mix and matching and see where it takes us.

Preseason tour of China and Gao's plans
the saint in winchester replied to Saint86's topic in The Saints
It's a marketing move and designed to encourage Chinese/Far East investment. That investment may be useful to bring in some quality players or reinvest in the academy. Think of the positives rather than the negatives. -
The reality is we have a short term coach, and he doesn't have the authority to hire and fire anyway. All this talk of "Hughes should get rid..." It's not his decision, he can only recommend and feed back to Reed the identity of who made his job more difficult in his time here. This won't get resolved until the end of the season, sadly.
-
I was thinking the same. As a thank you for our support, the players have set up a fund to part/fully fund season tickets next season. Won't happen, but if it would be a welcome gesture if the players show their regret over poor performance by putting their money where their mouth is.
-
I think the bias is subconscious. They seem to expect the player from the lesser team to be shirt-holding, tackling from behind, etc (Ie fouling)rather than the other way around. They don't think the superior player is likely to foul the inferior player so in a challenge they will assume the inferior player is likely to have fouled if the superior player is up in arms at losing the ball. But let's recognise the players appeals influence the ref as well.

The annual "Would you take Adkins back" thread?
the saint in winchester replied to Bad Wolf's topic in The Saints
Yes, but it depends on who the other candidates are. Tell me it's Jokanovic or Adkins, and I'll choose Jokanovic. Tell me Adkins or a couple of hacks, I'll choose Adkins. In principle, yes to Adkins, but that's if we have cleared the egotists out and have a side who would look UP to him, not DOWN on him. Hull fans still not enamoured with NA, apparently, but you know football fans. They want to be challenging for promotion and under NA, they haven't been. The grass is always greener on the other side ... -
Looking at the squad we could be left with...
the saint in winchester replied to Dazza82's topic in The Saints
I see Robert Huth has been completely frozen out at Leicester, not played all season according to the stat I saw (although that could be out of date). For those wanting a hard man at the back, and a potential leader (captain) could he fit our bill? -
So I wasn't the only one who saw that! All the re-runs of the goal don't show it as Morata nudged Hoedt in the back before the cross came in, knocking him off balance when the cross did come in. McCarthy saw it and assumed the 'goal' would be disallowed, but I wish he has tried to save it!
-
VAR would have confirmed the ball was over the line, but that was never at issue. The issue was whether Austin backed into the keeper impeding him. We all feel 'no'; Austin took a position and the keeper made contact with Austin so dropping the ball behind the line. The ref knew it was over the line, but ruled it out for a foul by Austin.

The big semi final build up vs Chelski

No Sims at all? -
More chance of Donald Duck.

Yeah, I'm sure we can work that into the lyric of 'Isn't it Ironic' by Alanis Morissette.

Young, hungry to succeed and prove himself and won't see the Championship as a step down. Who fits the bill I don't know yet.

Wenger please!!!!

Leicester 0 Saints 0 - Post Match
the saint in winchester replied to St Chalet's topic in The Saints
Sometimes I agree with you, sometimes I don't. This time it's the latter. I was all for staying in it for 88 mins but we did have to go for it at the end. If we stay up by one point, you can thumb your nose at me. But I fear we will be (at least) 2 points adrift now.
