I actually laughed out loud at this
-
Blimey that's pretty good news isn't it? He was a regular in the Reading team until recently I think. Surely a deal is just around the corner if we've taken yet another trialist on... if we were going out of business we wouldn't bother.
-
I lost a Pinnacle ball down at Chilworth the other day... then they withdrew their interest. Eek.
-
A bit like Wottes contract, it leaves me thinking "how?" We can't be in too much trouble if we're giving out contracts and taking on trialists.
-
I don't know if this would actually make a difference, especially considering the club isn't in administration. Haha, it's a mess aint it.
-
Good good good. He could have buggered off leaving us without anyone to take training. That would have been a disaster. Personally I'd rather have someone else in charge in the long term but I'm glad Wotte has stuck by us despite being constantly kept in the dark and treated very badly.

Despite the people of each country claiming they are two completely seperate entities, I think it is generally believed that Switzerland and Austria are inextricably linked.

Press Conference (No, there isn't - Admin)
niceandfriendly replied to ladysaint's topic in The Saints
Nothing on SSN, nothing on OS, Daily Echo say there isn't one, SFC press office says there isn't one. So, there isn't one. Let's delete this thread as it will get peoples hopes up like it did mine. -
Is this your "good news" we should be expecting?
-
I've been sat on a farm in Somerset since Wednesday listening to some brilliant music so have absolutely no idea what's been going on. Fialka has no money? Do we care? Are Pinnacle going to complete or not? Do we lose 10 more points if we're not bought by end of play tomorrow? Does anyone have any throat tablets?
-
I'd say well said, if you weren't whining and wingeing yourself
-
Some people just still aren't getting this are they? They're not saying the 10 points deduction is an incredible abuse of power, they are saying that everyone has a right to an appeal by law. Not allowing them an appeal IS an incredible abuse of power "in anyone's language". Yes, we probably deserve the deduction, but we also deserve an appeal.
-
Yeah, nothing new here. Pinnacle still want the club and the 10 points aren't a deal breaker, and Fry has to listen to other offers. Certainly nothing on that statement which suggests what Lynam said earlier was wrong. Either themselves or the League will change their stance, and when that happens they will complete. It's nice for the OS to wake up and join in with the rest of us though. What a shambles that website really is.

You never had a coldsore then? Lucky buggar!
-
I see what you're saying but what's changed with regards to the money man between now and the first day of exclusivity? Just because the FL are being a pain in the arse, why should he come out and show his face? I don't see what's changed really and I don't see how that'd help.
-
It's about the denial of the right to appeal, which Mawhinny originally stated we would have, and is obviously a right EVERYONE has in all walks of life. It's not that Pinnacle have just found out we can't get rid of -10 points, it's that they've just found out that the League are blackmailing them into waiving their right to appeal. When you're spending a lot of money on something and you find out that you can't appeal against a decision which could cost you even more money, you don't just say "oh ok fair enough", you at least try and do something about it.
-
Because it could affect his current business dealings? Because he's a busy man and doesn't need to be bombarded with phone calls and home visits from journalists desperate for a photo/interview? I'm sure there are more, better reasons too. We've waited SO long for this deal to go through, let's not hassle Pinnacle now with the desperation for a name. We don't need that yet.
-
The BBC clearly cut a lot of his interview too. They put a very negative spin on the story and clearly some fans seem to have believed it - but the bottom line is that TL said they want the club and that they will back down in the League don't!
-
The title of this thread does possibly suggest something more exciting than what was actually said, I agree. But, we have heard for the first time on South Today that the Pinnacle deal isn't dependant on the -10 points. They want the club either way. That's pretty bloody good news!
-
The most important thing to come out of that peice on South Today were Tony Lynams words: "We will be buying the club" and "It will mean a compromise from either ourselves or from the League" so there is our answer, the deal is NOT dependant on the 10 points, and Pinnacle want the club with or without -10 points.

Message from Tony Lynam - Saturday 20th June 12:54pm

"Have a nice weekend - and don't worry, we'll have these issues out of the way very shortly." That's the best bit for me. -
Where can we see this interview with MLT? Or just as transcript? Not sure how I've missed this.
-
Pinnacle should have been aware the the Football League were at the last minute going to demand a written statement saying that they would not launch an appeal, something which every club has the right to and which has already been previously confirmed by Mawhinny? Should they have found this out by using their crystal ball?
-
We're not arguing it as such. The FL realise that if they sanction the takeover by Pinnacle for Southampton FC it will prove that SLH and SFC are separate, thus proving them totally wrong by their own rules to apply a deduction. It's clear that Pinnacle do intend to appeal at some point, but it's not what they were trying to do today. It's the FL realising that they will be f*cked if they allow the deal to go through.
