  1. It's quite a sad thing to see, remembering his opening spell with us. An international striker that can't get in to a League One team quite clearly spells problems for the player. Not being first choice, he obviously doesn't want to be here, and we would rather not be paying his wages. Put simply, we have better choices in attack currently. Lambert is proving to be every penny's worth of a million quid, Connolly may not be on the pitch for too long a time, but has still scored 3 in 3. Add to that an eager Paterson, a goal scoring Lallana and even Papa Waigo (once he gets used to the offside system that they apparently don't have in Italy) and it seems his days here are numbered. To save the wages, he's got to go in January, one way or another. (This is where I look stupid as he gets games and becomes top scorer for the season!)
  2. Check out the dates on the first post.
  3. Finally have internet access at home. :-D I said before the game that the only way a draw would be an acceptable result is if we go a couple of goals down and pull it back. We did, so we can't be too disappointed with this result. A bit of a break now due to the cup competitions, hopfully we can keep the momentum going.
  4. Cries of "typical Saints" will reverberate through this messageboard if we get anything but a win, but IMO that'd be an unfair assessment of how far we've come. This is the new team, and if recent results are to be believed we've turned the corner and are bringing the good times back to Southampton. I truly think we have what it takes to win today. In terms of the League Table disregarding the points deduction, we're better in every way than Orient. If we truly have aspirations to plug the gap on the top 6, we NEED to win these sorts of games. Our recent run will count for nought if we can't sustain it over a long period of time. We will win today, in my mind. We're playing like the best team in the league, and I believe that we may possibly be that good. I'm hoping Hammond can shake the knock, Connolly too, but I still think we'll go on to win this. Another 3-1 would be lovely. (Though I can envisage us keeping a clean sheet.) A draw is unacceptable today - unless we pull back from 3-0 down.

    Believe

Irrelevant of other results, bar one of the 14 point teams losing, and beat Orient and we'll be out of the zone. Another major lift in an already confident team.
  6. "Sex derby with Poopy" sounds intriguing. I'm in. But not if there's Bot action.
  7. I'd love to have been there, but am chuffed about the win. I'm trying not to think about the fact than Trotman, Mellis and Antonio are only loans, all three would be big losses. In Antonio's case, if he keeps playing as well as people say he is, I wouldn't be suprised if Reading took him back. They're struggling, and will need him before long. Great Vibes now - can't see us losing at the minute.
  8. We haven't played Leeds or Norwich yet either - while I'd rather we played them when we were in poor form at the start of the season (so we could play the so called "lesser" teams when we hit form), I don't see why we can't pick points up against these two. The good feeling around St Mary's at the moment doesn't just come from the wins, but from the knowledge that with a team as good as ours in this league, nobody can envisage where the next defeat comes from. This must be close to what it feels like to be a Man U/Chelsea fan.
  9. Tis funneh to see peeps going for a 2-1 win - that's my prediction too. I don't think we'll wow anyone, despite decent performances of late, but I think we're one of those teams that can now grind out a result - the mark of a good team in any league. We're scoring goals, and yes, we haven't kept clean sheets of late, but with Jaidi, Trotman and Harding in at the back, I'm more confident in the defence than I have been for years. My shift at work finishes at 3, so I'll be speeding to get home to follow it. (If any police constables are reading, I'm lying.) 2-1. Goals from Lambert and Waigo.
  10. I have more chance of Katy Perry fondling my nuts. Beckford is a player far too good for this league. At the start of the season, Leeds didn't want to sell, even with the knowledge his contract was up at the end of the season. They kept him in the hope they'd get promoted this season and could offer him a new contract. That looks like happening, but even if it doesn't. he'll be off to a top CCC/Prem team. No chance. I'm quite happy with our own "too good for League One" striker at the moment.
  11. Whoa easy, put the handbag down love. Some people can't take jokes...
  12. Automatic Promotion is promotion, unless I'm mistaken! Unless we're bribing the FA...
  13. I think it would be fantastic to have a striker that nets 20+ goals - but I would much rather see a spread of goals across the whole team. That shows that we're not relying heavily on one target man. If Lambert, Waigo, Lallana, Connolly and even Saga all get over the 10+ goals barrier, we'd have had a good season. The key this season is injuries. While we're all buzzing at the moment, we can't rule out one or two of the lads up front falling foul of a knock or two. If that does happen, it'd be interesting to see the strength in depth.
  14. I feel cheated. Le Tissier should have gone to the World Cup in 98.
  15. I went to the Rovers game, but shiftwork limits me to a handful of games a season. I aim to get down whenever I can though. I think 19k is fantastic for this League, all credit to those that go. Our recent form should boost attendances and next Saturday's game vs the Dons should push us over the 20k barrier.
  16. I log on. My pants get all spunky. I log out. I don't think my washing machine can take much more...
  17. He wasn't very good, he did get caught offside, and at times looked like he didn't want the ball when it was passed to him. BUT: 1) He scored a tap in, so I guess you could chalk that up to having some sort of poachers instinct 2) He is quick. Now we need to use that pace without letting him have the ball. 3) To be honest, he did have some good touches from time to time. He will be a good player for us, but can we spare him the time to gel? I'd still start him against Gillingham.
  18. Blimey give the man time. He's only ten games in. Sacking managers left right and centre is one of the reasons we fell from grace in the first place. Pardew is a good manager, maybe initially some of his choices seem strange but he's still trying to find his best team. If I were to blame anyone for poor performance so far, it's be the players. Last night, the two players that stood out for me were Jaidi and Hammond - both Pardew signings. Give him AT LEAST the season - then review it.
  19. Driving down from Berkshire for the game, where's the best place to park? I was going to drive to Winchester and get the train - any better ideas?
  20. I'm looking to go as for a change I'm not working. This is reliant on permission given by the missus, as she owns me and I'm her *****. I love relationships. :-D Saints 2-0. Bristol Rovers are in good form but I can see Lambert seeking a goal or two.
  21. Without the -10 our team would only be a few points away from Swindon, just outside the playoff places. Even with the -10 we're undefeated in 6 games and have one of the strongest teams in the League, with the January window to come, and loans that can be brought in. I'm not worried yet, but 6 points would be luvverly this week.
  22. If that's true, that's a shocking statistic. I know we were shyte last season, but I still thought we'd scored in the first ten minutes at some point. The problem with that is that we're letting teams get into the match - an early goal, and we're much more likely to dominate teams.
  23. The race to One point is still on. The mighty Wolves is next for them. I hope Drew is fit...
  24. Opik - could probably talk the ball into the net... Tis a matter of time - two home games now, I still think we'll see the goals flooding in towardws the latter part of the season. Foreign players need to find their feet, so Papa has an excuse. Saga just needs a run in the team. Lallana is a good player, but I'd still rather have two out and out strikers up front.
  25. I reckon its every aspiring footballers dream to play regularly for a League side, no matter how shyte that side may be. James may not have been ready, but I bet he loved every bloody minute of it, and of course it's made him the better footballer this year. A good footballer is one that keeps quiet and plays where the manager tells him to - his versitility will do wonders for us in the future.
