By Pardew's comments I think it is clear Saints have been desperately trying to off-load players for some time but there have been no takers. Hopefully some will leave in January if we can fix them up but I would expect more to leave in the summer when some contracts are up.

Gutted I've not been able to get to any games yet this season, so question to those who have attended regularly. Early days yes, but It's clear Ap has made some excellent signings this season. If you had to single out one signing that has impressed you the most so far, who would it be and why?

They decided to sack southgate 3 weeks ago, I think wgs is a good shout. They have clearly been interviewing for ages. Very confident pardew is not on the list, if we keep up recent form I'm sure there will be more speculation as jobs come up.

I was massively impressed with nc from the very start & i was delighted when it was agreed to stay here as an exec. The new regime have not put a foot wrong since they walked in and I for one am feeling very positive about the future - but it will take time. What happened at notts county felt wrong from the start, these guys are the real deal. They are not going to spunk stupid money at this level, the higher we go though the bigger the budget we will get. Nicola's ethos is promise less deliver more which I wholeheartedly agree with.

Flybe deal one year left, I would speculate unlikely to be renewed. Umbro deal will have 3 seasons left at the end of this season, I think they have done a good job so far. Notts County's do not go direct through Nike but a UK subsidary (like palace & southend)- all their kits are very outdated team wear templates you can buy off any major sports retailer without the badges. Adidas & Puma also do a similar deal for lower league clubs with some poor results. Although they have yearly themes and certain mix & match templates at least umbro will produce a direct bespoke kit.

He is the Greatest Player I have ever seen in the Red & White in my years, it is not even close. I feel we as a club were incredibly fortunate to have witnessed this special players entire career, it will never happen again. However if I take off my red & white tinted spectacles for a minute and be objective, I feel a little sad that he did not gain any medals and play Champions League football & regularly at International Level where his talents really could have cemented his place in history as one of the best footballers in the world ever IMHO. I think it is one of the biggest ever injustices in English football that the 2 England Managers that mistreated Matt (Venables & Hoddle), were the two managers who tried hardest to sign him for their clubs prior to them getting the England job. Clearly they put their own personal vendettas against the best interests of their country. FACT - Other than have signed with Eric Hall (Venables is bent) or gone to see Eileen Drewery (Hoodle is ), there is nothing more Matt could have done to secure a regular England place IMO. There have been many great goals in football over the years, however Matt's biggest strength IMO is that he has scored such a large volume of spectacular goals, probably more than any other player ever in football history. I spoke with Matt about my favorite goals and the ones I mentioned are not the 10 or so which are always repeated. Turkish has already mentioned the Norwich Hatrick which I would urge anyone who has not seen it to look for it. The other one was in the game where he missed his only penalty (& subsequent open goal!) vs Forest in the early 90's. From the corner of the penalty area on the left he met a thunderous half volley in to the top right hand corner of the goal. His response.... "yeah that was probably the best left foot goal I ever scored". Left foot!!!??!!!! Thanks for the unbelieveable memories Matt.

I know what your saying but is he in the final year of his contract or not? he is 30 yo as well now. Echo also mentions may make another signing in time for the game tomorrow.......don't they have to be registered by 12pm? could be an interesting morning.

Very surprised saints have not made a move for him. I thought he was a very good player - a cross between a poor man's Killer & Claus I thought. As others have said he gave away a few poor penalties, but that would be my only complaint. Would be cheap and has a great attitude - there were not many of them around last year in a saints shirt. Pardew please sign him up!

Matt wrote it with Graham Hiley. Has a very intersting story about the moment his england career was finished by hoddle. Rupert gets a bashing.

I saw him play for fulham at spurs this year and he was excellent, looked like he had improved since us. would be fantastic if a possibility.
