  1. 5 years 5 managers 4 head honchoes 3 Players still playing 2 Promotions 1 Little camera at wembley
  2. We lost 2-1 to bottom of the table Doncaster. Swing Lowe rang out from all sides of the ground. Seasoned Saints fans almost coming to blows with each other near my seat.
  3. Ollie Lancashire played for Rochdale in the 2 0 (nil) defeat of Leeds yesterday.
  4. Does anyone know how what has allegedly been said got into the press? We are normally watertight on transfers these days. If it has been leaked from the other end that could put a different completion on things, especially if it turns out to have been "spun" to make the claim look weak.
  5. Most of our players are young and improving....
  6. A good point, well made.
  7. I thought it was his best game I can remember for us today. Very good. Well done KD.
  8. Can't see it mentioned elsewhere but on R5L they said it was the ref's first game at Goodson for 6 years after he made some controversial decisions in the merseyside derby. His name was roundly booed before the match. Wonder how this impacted on the late penalty decision?
  9. If the ball could take a freak bounce off some sand that would be a nice touch too.
  10. I should know this - but who is the bloke on the left? Doesn't look like cb fry?
  11. He's snapped from the left He's snapped from the right Adam Lallana He made Bradley's night
  12. Fwiw the bookmakers seem to see us as significantly worse than the top six, but significantly better that the bottom 12. Us and Everton are in a class of our own, with them marginally better than us. Seems quite a few of our fans are more negative than the bookies. Odd that.
  13. Definitely the Heath goal for me too - by a long long way. Interesting that the goals in the semi final two years later feel nothing like as bad. Must be because I thought we were strong favourites for the cup in 84. Having an unusually strong side can make things harder to take.....
  14. Is it true that our defender tried to trap the ball by sitting on it with no pressure on - one of his party-pieces - and it all went horribly wrong? I was to young (just) to be there but I recall a story along these lines.
  15. 1 - I should get a season ticket in case I miss out on a big cup final (1988, still waiting). 2 - We got an amazingly good price for Shearer. 3 - We will walk the championship (after relegation, not promotion, to it). 4 - Relegation to L1/administration, in the midst of the financial melt down, would be a disaster. 5 - Markus's sad death would mean we wouldn't reach the champions league after all (his joy at Wembley had convinced me this was inevitable).
  16. fwiw I think we are in the title race and our squad is not at "thin" as some are suggesting, given most of the teams we might be competing with will also have Champions League games too. As long as the key player steer clear of injury, who knows?? Then again, who remembers this: 12 November 1988 - 3rd http://www.statto.com/football/stats/england/division-one-old/1988-1989/table/1988-11-12 28 March 1989 - 18th http://www.statto.com/football/stats/england/division-one-old/1988-1989/table/1989-03-29
  17. Wayne Thomas's screamer - I'm the cup I think. Also seem to remember cartlon "the legend" Palmer scoring a van basten-like far post volley?
  18. Dell hurst park - lost my fez in that one.
  19. Bit of a tangent but why include two goals against Chelsea in the "circumstances surrounding" schmeichel's ire whilst watching Matt's lob float over his head. Firstly, letting in 2 is hardly in the same league as 5 or 6. Secondly, he would have had to see into the future to know the next week's result. We're not talking about Hans Seagars.
  20. What time do you reckon Ricky will score the opener? I'll go for 82 mins.
  21. I thought he got quite a warm round of applause when he came on.
  22. Is he a season ticket holder?
