  1. It may be that he is following his manager's instructions to the letter and that is why he gets picked.
  2. There were several empty seats behind me in the central Kingsland which I can only assume we're no-shows since these were prime positions.
  3. According to an article about Jay in The Mail today his speed has increased from 9.1 to 9.3 metres per second. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3183174/Southampton-striker-Jay-Rodriguez-nearing-competitive-return-newly-wedded-star-vows-come-better-ever.html
  4. I think this is a make-or-break season for him. He needs to reward some of the faith that has been shown in him.
  5. Perhaps badly phrased. I was trying to take the same line that the modern politically correct use with regards to implicit racism, but with the roles reversed. A bit abstruse perhaps but not worth getting upset over.
  6. Composé
  7. To be honest I tend to have your outlook on events too.
  8. A fair summary.
  9. I understood the rules to be that so long the player doesn't appear in the group stages then he could appear in the other league, but who knows?
  10. It seemed to me that he had an attack of the yips and had lost his belief that he was going to score. Once his first goal goes in then the rest will follow.
  11. I was referring to your response. You have have raised the question as to whether the racial characteristics of the victim and of the officer were significant. They may have been, but to raise the matter displays an unhealthy preoccupation with skin colour. (I am playing devil's advocate here)
  12. That could be regarded as a typically racist response.
  13. I had to go back to the turnstiles to get my two. Some were being handed out there, others inside. I think they had to go back for refills. Nice gesture though.
  14. Don't let UEFA hear that or we'll get kicked out of the competition.
  15. Lynsey Hipgrave. Out of your league, I'm afraid.
  16. I didn't realise that no bottles of any kind were allowed inside. My 11-year old grandson had his bottle of squash confiscated. But we were allowed to buy some Lucozade and some water inside. Mugged. Well, plastic cupped, actually.
  17. Hmm... 5000 arrivals at £10,000 a year support (say) is £50m. Each year.
  18. Nothing to complain about really. A clean sheet was paramount but 3 goals for is a very satisfying result. Shame about Clasie limping off, maybe he overstretched a bit. I've just got home and am watching the replay now
  19. It would make no difference. We are not in the Schengen area at the moment so all they would need to do is get to Calais and then do what they are doing now.
  20. Indeed.
  21. Are you sure that wasn't me in a skirt?
  22. I wish him well in the twilight of his career but I can't see him going to Spurs. They've only just got rid of Adebayor (almost).
  23. None of the above. I have my own business but am semi-retired in that I still go into work but I get paid very little for it.
  24. I am not stupid and I have been to all of these countries except South Africa but including Syria. The distances are irrelevant, it's more to do with what type of social benefits they can expect to receive on arrival. Britain pays 7% or the world's benefits. You have omitted all the countries between the UK and Syria which would provide a safe haven and all of which are a lot closer. Have a look at a map of the world and look at the countries of origin of these migrants compared with the location of the UK. You will find that we are stuck out in the corner on an island in the North Atlantic. Aleppo to Turkish border 150km Aleppo to Beirut 300 km Aleppo to Limassol 271 km Aleppo to Amman 371 km Aleppo to Teheran 1605 km All of these are a lot closer than London and there are many more. And why do you feel the need for the personal abuse? Everything I write has been thought through beforehand. There was no need for your first sentence, it adds nothing to the debate.
  25. Not America, or Australia, or New Zealand, or Canada, or South Africa then, or any of the many other English-speaking language countries? Or any of the Arabic-speaking ones, come to that.
