  1. That's the way I see it. In isolation it's not such a strange deal but on top of all the others it looks questionable.
  2. It wasn't his team though, was it? Why is buying replacements impossible? There are plenty of options out there.
  3. He's still young, I thought everybody knew that?
  4. This, really. Maybe not too bothered about Chambers if we have a replacement lined up. The big question is: Would be buy any of them back for the price we sold them?
  5. Why should I? What's happening is not important in the long term. We are just seeing a short-term business reconstruction with a view to an improved long-term future.
  6. Certainly not, he's the architect of all this mess.
  7. The growth had to stop somewhere, probably about 8th in the table?
  8. I think 'Bolt Hole' is a bit of a crude way to describe a gorgeous woman.
  9. Well done Steve, I can believe that, it's the most sense I've read so far.
  10. Tut tut Phil, you know perfectly well that she can't have taken anything like that amount out, may £20m or so at most.
  11. I think this is true (but not the but about Champions League either)

  14. What would a boycott achieve? Would it persuade the board to buy back all our players?
  15. or not enough? That and Spanish over the last three weeks. Have I missed anything???
  16. Is there enough material in an adult's to make two kiddies' versions out of it?
  17. Which one? I'm going for Q.
  18. But men can only do one thing at a time???
  19. My playing days are I we but I could referee it if you like I'm 65, deaf, fat and almost blind so I'm ideally qualified.
  20. That would make sense, but of course there's then a massive profit when they're sold to Man Utd for £27m, or whatever.
  21. There may be other reasons. Maybe the owner has appointed people to run the club as they see fit, within certain guidelines? That's what normally happens in any business.
  22. If we'd sacked him then he would have received compensation instead of us getting some from Spuds. That's a few million £ of difference!
  23. Players valuations (book asset value) are usually written down over the length of their contract. There may be a revaluation if a serious injury forces a retirement, for example. You wouldn't want to revalue upwards mid-term or you might be liable to a tax on the notional profit, unless you had made a big loss elsewhere and wanted to offset it somewhat, perhaps. I suspect this may explain the delay in tying some players down to linger contracts as there book values would probably increase.
