Understandable perspective but I'd still have tied a deal down by Nov and there were posts urging a new deal to be offered. Maybe Les did and Sam said no? Either way, I wouldn't sell him and hope that he repays club for supporting him through the dark days.
-
I like you as a poster but you said that about Hants cc last season too. No Durham to save Saints!
-
Even if he doesn't sign a new deal, keep him as we will get a development fee if he moved at the end of contract. Nice to see Les Reed on the ball again though.
-
One observation from me - did anyone see how composed Stephens was on the ball? I'm wondering once Caceres is fit whether a midfield of Romeu, Stephens and PEH might work better? Give us the height and strength we clearly lacked on Sat with Davis as the potential advanced variation and Clasie as back up DMC if we don't sign another experienced winner such as Essien.
-
Not at the game on Sat in Kingsland N and Northam it wasn't. Reed copped it more than Puel though. Puel is just too compliant and needed to challenge Reed in the last 2 Windows, let's hope Caceres gets them both out of a hole eh?
-
Essien on a free is a short term option to shore up DMC and support Romeu. JWP and Reed can go on loan to help cover the cost. The Championship will be a good test for them, Saints in their plight need men, not boys I'm afraid.
-
In answer to Guan massive yes please on Caceres, that wait time is nothing to potentially staying up. Essien on a free too, screen our back 4, sit and help Romeu out. JWP out on loan to Newcastle to help the wage bill and keep Benitez happy up there.
-
Good if Reed was being made to face the music. He's been very quick to take credit at the expense of managers during the good times but radio silence now. Some limited chanting from Northam about him after the third goal. If this continues I can see the numbers swelling and matchdays are going to be uncomfortable for him.
-
Here in Kingsland N and after a bright start, awful. Puel has to go, players second to everything and every WHU player. No closing down for either goal and Fraser poor for their second. Just go open now, can't defend so try and out score them. Gabbiadini and Boufal very bright. Get a manager in that the players respect. Results not helping us elsewhere.

You're the DOF... what would you do? Season 2017/18

This. Martina and Isgrove will be out of contract and we've got enough home grown product now to not worry about the 25 anymore. I'd keep Fraser, McCarthy, Cedric, VVD (unless the offer is over £50m - take note Reed), Yoshida, McQueen, Bertrand, PEH, Romeu, Davis, Redmond, Tadic (assuming Puel leaves), JWP, Boufal, Austin and Gabbiadini if he settles. Outs: Clasie, Targett (on loan), Reed (loan), Hesketh (loan), Martina, Isgrove, Long, Stephens loan/keep as competition, J Rod New signing positions - 2x CB, 2xCM (A big strong brute and an ACM), 2 strikers (central ones) Good raw materials, don't know how Reed and Wilson have gotten it this wrong. Both will be gone by May if we get tonked in the final and finish 16th. -
A smoking gun if true for Wilson and Reed and if get a tonking at Wembley and finish near the relegation zone you can't see KL keeping either of them on. Pity, as Reed has had a great seven years, but the warning signs were there after a bodged summer.

Transfer Deadline Day Jan 2017 Edition

Agree CB and really want that last bit to materialise for the club's sake, over the next 30 minutes. -

Do you consider that success though? It's great to be ultra loyal but surely there comes a time to question things? Mind you, even Branfoot had people who wanted him to stay and even Robert Chase had a few fans defend him at Norwich. -
Hope for the sake of the cup final and top flight security you are right. Then he'll be sold and probably replaced with, well who knows what. Can hope Les can save his reputation in the coming hour.

Swansea vs Saints: Match Thread & Reaction
saint1977 replied to Hamilton Saint's topic in The Saints
Agree with 50% of that, don't think it's just Puel though. Where is Fonte's replacement? Les Reed is toast with our supporters if he doesn't turn up a CB this window. This result plus big transfer errors would put us right in the drop mix and any more CB injuries and it could Europe, Wembley and relegation in one season -

Or A) we don't sign a CB, 95% of the fanbase are f ucked off royally (doesn't suit your agenda but it's true I'm afraid), get dicked 5-0 in the final, maybe even relegated B) sign a decent CB and striker and fans are happier Let's hope our under-fire DoF delivers. The decision to play Isgrove Sat cost us a fee from Bristol City as well. -
3pm announcement tomorrow I'm guessing at

Not what I'm looking for. In the area and left it late. Not a STH living down here and won't have been to enough aways to qualify anyway.

Saints Reserves v Arsenal Reserves - FA Cup Match Thread
saint1977 replied to St Chalet's topic in The Saints
Those that want us to be competitive as we can be - whilst not being reckless - and not just blandly pushing out PR. Obvious that we are 2 or 3 first XI players short but if Puel has picked this league 1 line up to force Les's hand then the ends might justify the means. If he can't get any sense out of the club after Wed's triumph about new faces this is probably the only other way he can make his point. -

No, you get a grip. Be an adult and admit what we can all see - Reed needs to hurry up with getting a quality CB and CF in. Proper Saints fans can see this and have been saying this for ages, even though we are delighted to be at Wembley in the EFL Cup. -
Not just them either - Hull are doing the same although put up a good display last night. Jim White will be happy - looks it'll be the busiest deadline day on a January for years with plenty of last ditch trolley dashes. Always risky - Niasse the classic example but Henri Camara in 2005 nearly kept us up so it can be a positive boost. Saints are clearly looking for CB and urgently need one if VVD prognosis poor. ST looks close to completion though.

Think you'll actually find they went back to Wembley and had a thumping win in the Play Off Final.... Great night last night. Local lad - Torpoint - Jack Srephens wonderful, Yoshi equally so, Fraser and full backs and Romeu was best of the lot. 2 subs combined superbly for goal. Need to strengthen at CB and CF now, Gardos hasn't played for a long time. Lovely to see Puel's personality and passion come out - more please and will help connection with fans immensely. Cant wait for next game I have a ticket for - WHU home Felt sorry for VVD. Sounded bad from Claude interview but hope can at least make final?
