In real points - we are only 1 off the play offs...
-
The fact that Wycombe are winning may actually help us in the long run because it means they are keeping Exeter in the mix as well - so it's not all bad news.

Link please...???

Duncan, I'm not asking anybody to 'shut the comedy store', far be it from me to ask you all to quieten down - let's all have a good old laugh at them, they did while we were having tough times. But as you rightly point out football is now no better than politics, and that, as far as I am concerned, is not right. We want to portray a family image, we abhore violence and want it ousted from the game, we will not tolorate racism - but we are happy for dirty, greedy and corrupt people to be associated with football. Surely something is morally wrong. Yes it is good to see the Blue Few suffer, but what if it was us, what if Mr Liebherr was not the fine upstanding pillar in the community, what if he did not extol good ethical values and demonstrate excellent business acumen - would we still be happy. The answer is actualy probably yes - but only if the results were the same. The problem being though - as I alluded to before, without a professional business plan, results are unlikely to follow. Hence Pompeys current predicament. It is time for the FA to get involved in takeovers to ensure that those buying into our product are in it for the right reasons and not merely looking to make a fast buck on the back of a club going to the wall.

Have to say - I tend to agree with this. NEEDED - New Broom to Sweep Clean. Time to clear out a lot of the deadwood and start again. Let's be honest, the whole situation is farcicle and whilst we may derive great pleasure in watching the Blue Few lurch from one disaster to another - it hardly does the reputation of football in this country any favours whatsoever. We have LLS whilst they have fake Shieks - footballing whores, out to make a quick buck on the back of fan loyalty. It is time for the FA to intervene, toughen up the FAPP checks and ensure that those people vying for ownership of Clubs over here, have the experience, business model and finances to conduct a professional operation. Too many Mickey Mouse operatives muddying to waters of what essentially is big business - time for change methinks.

Does this mean that my Currys surround sound is poo - it sounds good to me too...!
-
Ripped off - not at all, you're unique - would you like to purchase a club t shirt, 20 quid...???
-
Just for clarity and to avoid any 'whispers' I think you mean the Mickey Mouse club and not the Micky Mouse club...!

There is a fine line between cheating and exploiting loopholes - which our recent history will hold testiment to. I personally don't give a toss about what he did - I wish he had got the 10 grand or whatever it was. To me he deserved it. I think there was a case recently where a garage petrol pump was dispensing at a much reduced rate for some reason. There was a long long queue to use said pump - nobody rushed to tell the 'unfortunate' seller of the mistake. 'Tis but human nature to make a few bob...! As for the Sun - well it is just that, the Sun - will it be remembered tomorrow - probably not. Interesting though that Bruce never made the top 10 - isn't it..!!!???
-
Strange really isn't it - HR is a man that actually has been honoured with the 'Freedom of the City', yet he probably couldn't have got out of there quicker if he tried...!
-
Being a G2S I have never had an infraction or ban... nah nah, nan, nah nah...

My what a difference a season makes. Here we are firmly entrenched in the relagation zone and everybody is talking about promotion - bizarre.

Poor finishing to be fair...!

McMenemy - one of the UK's most successful managers?
Micky replied to Nineteen Canteen's topic in The Saints
To be fair to NC though, the link that he provides states that Lawrie is listed in said publishing. Whether the list has been updated through re-issues is a point of conjucture, but clearly it's his PR team that are using this line to (perhaps) enhance his public CV. All of that said - couldn't give a toss either way - guy did good for us...! -
Whilst I really didn't want to post on this thread as I totally agree with Hopkins, I actually agree with you on this one too - shocking decission.

Top 20, dunno (and don't care really). Just immensely grateful for what he gave us when he was manager. His achievements have been well documented here and so I won't bother repeating them, but suffice to say, he gave me some of my best ever footballing memories, and for that alone I will forever be indebted to him. Couldn't give a stuff about where he is in the Guinness top whatever - for me he's number one anyway. -
Strangely this thought crossed my mind only the other day, only fleetingly though...!
-
Dyslexic Nick...? He was 2'6 and 5.12 stone mate...!
-
Derry, Derry, Derry, calm yourself mate. I didn't say that we didn't need width, I didn't say that I don't agree with you. It's just that you seem to be fixated with the subject - every other post has something about 'lack of width', it's becoming the 'holy grail', will fix all our ills. Sadley, I rarely read your contributions now because I know that I am likely to be 'Width Lectured' yet again - sorry, and no offence meant, but it gets a little tedious. Yes we do need width, but likewise, sometimes we need to be narrow - width does not guarantee goals. Blow me, Kelvin could lump it straight down the middle, Adam could break the offside trap, run on and bury it - you never know it could happen! I don't care how we score goal, so long as we score, width is just one element of pitch use, and yes it is pleasing on the eye (when it works) but (IMHO) it is not the be all and end all of successful teams.

That appears to be the crowd figures and the inferiority complexes put to bed then - whats next...?
-
Yep - you're right, crowd figures of 30 years ago have absolutley naff to do with where we are now. You are in the Premiership whilst we languish rock bottom of League 1, little chance of promotion this year, more likely of dropping further. Ahhhh but, 'feeling inferior' - sorry - not a cat in hells chance. Why? We have just come through the darkest days in our recent history, we have a great infrastructure, we have an owner who knows how to run successful business's, we have a manager that most clubs in this league would never be able to attract and we have a decent set of players (for this league) with more to follow in the transfer window. So you see - with all of this optimism running around SMS, you'll forgive me if I decline to swap shirts with you, or to feel at all inferior. BTW - all the very best for the season - I hope (and believe) you will survive. See you in a couple of years.
-
Sorry - Derry on the "We need width" soapbox - that would be a first, errrr then again maybe not...!!! More width Mr Pardew, please more width....!
-
Right thats cleared that up then - clear as mud. That said though, like you - I think we'll finish somewhere in this League...!
