The pre-agreed fee for Papa Waigo is 500K (not sure if euros or pounds) - although I think there might be a problem on his salary. I think Fiorentina are paying a pretty high % of his salary at the moment. He may even be our best paid player, even if we're only paying him say 4K-5K a week. I like him a lot and would love to sign in. But with possible permanent signing of Antonio (I didn't release he was available on a free) and with Puncheon (AP's 1st choice, it seems), we have a LOT of players who can play right-midfield/wing/attack. Especially as Lallana can play there too. I'd say our obvious gap is central midfield. Morgan and Deano are quality - but Wotton, Gillett and James are merely okay-ish. We might need to look at LM too. Lallana and Punch are good here - but I think they both prefer the right-side. Mills is alright at LM, but not awesome.

Tough decision. At the game itself, I thought Harding was immense. Thought Antonio was pretty good - and very good in 2nd half. Thought Lambert was okay, actually quite good, but not great - was surprised he won MOTM at the stadium. Lambert and Antonio look very good on the BBC2 highlights though. I voted for Antonio, slightly sentimental vote.

I would be utterly amazed if they hadn't borrowed against the parachute payments. Although you're right that they'd need to be relegated to secure the parachute payments, if they were to stay up then the TV payments would be enormously higher. If I knew I was either going to get 10m or 30m from SKY next year and I was in deep financial do-do, I'd definitely borrow against the 10m.

I think it's this sort of attitude that ensures so many football fans - not just Saints - are revelling in Pompey's demise. The fact that the skates' death looks like being long, slow and painful just makes the whole thing even more joyous. Wonderful entertainment and the best contribution that Portsmouth will ever make to English football (their collapse may be the catalyst for reform)

Overall, Leagie One probably isn't much harder than any other year - but the top six/seven are pulling away from the pack and this is exactly what we didn't want. If the top two were running away with it and the rest of the teams were much of a muchness, we'd definitely still have a good shot at the top six. I think were going to end up with a record along the lines of W 22 D 14 L 10 - 80 points, reduced to 70. That isn't going to cut it. Pardew should be judged on the points we get, not the position we end up in. The latter depends too much on the relative performance of L1 teams to each other - not to Saints.
