  1. Hey Pilchards... FWIW, I don't think it'll be 40 points, but I plucked that figure as I think it'll guarantee safety. I think it might even be as low as 32-35... I just hope if that's the case, we've got another 18-20 points in us
  2. Rooney's ****. He smokes.
  3. We've all got differing opinions on how many points we need but let's say for arguments sake its 40 points... How many do you think we're going to get from the remaining games? Of course, this is all injury/transfers dependent for not just us but all clubs, but here's our fixtures; Aston Villa v Southampton Sat 12 Jan 15:00 Southampton v Everton Mon 21 Jan 20:00 Man Utd v Southampton Wed 30 Jan 20:00 Wigan v Southampton Sat 2 Feb 15:00 Southampton v Man City Sat 9 Feb 17:30 Newcastle v Southampton Sat 23 Feb 15:00 Southampton v QPR Sat 2 Mar 15:00 Norwich v Southampton Sat 9 Mar 15:00 Southampton v Liverpool Sat 16 Mar 15:00 Southampton v Chelsea Sat 30 Mar 15:00 Reading v Southampton Sat 6 Apr 15:00 Southampton v West Ham Sat 13 Apr 15:00 Swansea v Southampton Sat 20 Apr 15:00 Southampton v West Brom Sat 27 Apr 15:00 Tottenham v Southampton Sat 4 May 15:00 Sunderland v Southampton Sun 12 May 15:00 Southampton v Stoke Sun 19 May 16:00 By the looks of things, it appears we're going to have to beat a couple of the teams around us, not to mention picking up some points against some of the top teams. Our home fixtures don't look cut 'n' dried either, and we're going to need at least another 4-5 wins from them to stand a chance. That, I suspect, another 1-2 wins away too. Looking at it, it's daunting but remembering previous seasons in the PL, it can be done if we can evoke that "spirit" again with the current group of players who, I believe, do have a bit of balls about them despite some notable capitulations leading to dropping points. One further point... has anyone had a look at the other teams run-in's and seen if they've got a harder/easier ride than us?
  4. That's about 7-8 for the season Sounds like he makes quite a few "uncharacteristic errors" like Reina, Schwarzer etc... yet they still have an amazing reputation. He'll probably be a half-decent Ben Foster clone eventually
  5. Robert Mugabe. He's been walking a tightrope for a long time now.
  6. In which case we stand no chance of attracting players if you throw Leyton Orient, Brentford and Dagenham into the mix.
  7. Naaaaaah, it's Pompeeee innit, they'll be alwight
  8. OH, just wanted to add another >>>>>> while I'm still on here
  9. Ah yes, the bravery-in-the-face-of-adversity backing a la Arsenal at home. Criiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinge
  10. Can't choose between Cork, Yoshi and Schneiderlin. The rest of the team were good also, and an honourable mention for Steve Davis - probably his best game in a Saints shirt so far.
  11. Exactly... there's a presence to him and that means so much to your defenders. As I said above, once he's over the jitters people on here slating him will start wishing they hadn't... or will just deny all knowledge of it.
  12. Brilliant. That's exactly what we want. A complete loon. He's an imposing one and when he does find his catching gloves (which he will), he'll be brilliant. Didn't have much to do today and had a jittery start but having seen him numerous times (yes, I can say that), he will come good if given an extended run... and people on here can quote me on that. I suspect we'll see a two paragraph piece in about 10 years from now in a paper about something horrific he's done in his native Poland
  13. Yeah, absolutely, but life's so much easier when you're blaming someone for our failings, don't you think?
  14. Totally agree... keepers should certifiably mental.
  15. Lot's of people saying get rid... but who to replace him? He's hardly been given a fair crack of the whip, but then that's typical on here.
  16. Tbf, it is a mongboard... it's still very irritating though. It's the bedwetter's that make everyone else jumpy.
  17. McInally was the one that annoyed me more. Though I do think we are a fair-sized larger than QPR tbf.
  18. Karma, oh karma. You cheating, cheating f()cks... finally getting what you deserve.
  19. Five.
  20. It's all right though - it'll be airbrushed from his CV and whenever it does get mentioned, he'll say how he was down to the bare bones, players poor attitude, they were already relegated practically, wasn't his fault in general etc Can't wait to welcome Saggy down here
  21. Stelling was just trying, over the din, the explain that potentially, any new player would be playing in front of 30,000 a week, great setup, and trying to correct them by saying they (we) do have cash to spend whereas the likes of Merson, McInally were saying they'd rather join QPR if they had the choice between the teams. McInally was arguing that we won't ever attract anyone of significance (er, Ramirez?) because we won't be in Europe etc... Stelling was trying to explain we've only just been promoted and I think, was trying to say there is potential. One of them, not sure whether it was Merson or McInally said something sarcastically about "Jeff, I know it's your second favourite club" or something along those lines... It was just ill-informed dross from McInally but as Jeff's got his finger on the pulse a bit more being a local, he was trying to correct them.. but they weren't really having any of it. Nae mind.
  22. Fair play to Stelling in that little debate. Walsh and Cottee also fairly diplomatic and reasoned. Unsurprisingly, ex Villa players McInally and Merson talked sh1te.
  23. Tell foreskin face to do one, Cortese.
  24. I'd recommend, if you get the chance, to have a look at Jean-Armel Kana-Biyik. If he was on our radar, he's the type of domineering centre-half that we might need. That said, Astori is quality too, different type of CB though.
