What is your reference point, 6 months ago the odds were stacked against a referendum the trend (something you are keen on) so by your own standards yes referendum is more likely
-
A So the odds tell us the deal is dead, doh! A second referendum is more likely, and that the tories won’t reverse article 50, not sure any of that is surprising or an indication of anything.

This is football forum, childish puerility is the norm, the problem is that when one attempts to debate in an adult manner both sides descend very quickly to childish puerility. The biggest frustration being peoples inability to give a straight answer to a question.

Are you sat with two pencils up your nose and your pants on your head constantly repeating the word wibble? you certainly sound like a loony, dismiss anything you dont like and promote a dubious reality, Brexit in nutshell.

Sorry who is Matthew Flynn? why do you think the opinion of a junior hack on a Brexit broadsheet is the such a compelling argument, oh of course you do he is not an expert and therefore must have a far better understanding of the complexities of international finance than those who have actually got some experience and wisdom, you know all the ones that keep telling us that Brexit is bad for the economy.

Listening to this Radio 4 Series might improve the standard of debate in this thread, and indeed in many others : https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b0bfd2qr

you are wasting your time, a zealot finds it impossible to process anything that contradicts their ideology. Whatever reality you present is roundly rejected. I cannot imagine what strange universe GM resides in but to date un-discovered by humankind.

The main point is that both parties, Tory and Labour, have significant issues with what may broadly be termed 'prejudice' and it seems that only Corbyn and Labour are being seriously challenged by the main stream media. I acknowledge that Labours problem is compounded by Corbyn being leader , his past record does not paint him in a good light. For our right leaning members to fail to acknowledge the discriminatory and frankly xenophobic prejudices of some representatives of the Tory party is hypocrisy of the highest order.
-
Totally neutral view but current trends in party membership do not bode well for the Tories, if Labour could replace Corbyn with a real leader I think they would wipe the floor with the Tories. For the Tories Brexit is potentially terminal, they ran scared of UKIP and administered the political equivalent of Novachok to themselves and are now on life support. The Tory base is aging fast and they cannot attract younger members in anything like sufficient numbers, nothing to do with the wisdom of age everything everything to do with their policies, MP's and failures. As of January 2018 Uk Political Party Membership (except NI) was: Labour had 552,000 members with an average age of 53, Conservative 124,000 members, average age 57 with 53% over 60; SNP had 118,000 average age 54; Liberal Democrats 101,000 average age 52; Green Party 41,000 members only 27% over 60; UKIP 21,000 members 68% over 60; Plaid Cymru 8,000 members. Much the same as there wont be a General Election, until such time as it suits her single objective of what is best for the Tory Party, if she thinks a Referendum will improve hers and the nasty parties standing she will U turn in the blink of an eye.

Terrorist Attacks - WARNING: CONTAINS DISTRESSING IMAGES
moonraker replied to sadoldgit's topic in The Lounge
For me the issue is not just about the death penalty, I am against it, but it is about a government minister reversing over 30 years of U.K. policy without any parliamentary debate, unprecedented and further evidence of the contempt this Tory government has for the sovereignty of our parliament, taking back control my arse. -
Just out of interest, if the referendum had gone in favour of remain would have sucked it up and shut or like your mate Farage would it have been unfinished business, just asking.

Without doubt one of the best posts on this thread.

I don't understand the quitters opposition to a second referendum, if s they claim everything will still be sunny uplands and the will of the people is even stronger in favor of leave it would then they have nothing to fear. Democracy a continuous process not an event.
-
Have they, we may not have had Armageddon on day one, but major business is preparing to leave, growth has crashed, our currency is floundering, inward investment has plummeted, cost of living is rising fast, costs of Brexit are spiraling, simply we are poorer and more isolated as a nation it will only get worse if continue to pursue this gross act of self-harm . You might question the timing and scale of some of these negatives effect of Brexit but all were predicted. Conversely the promises of the leave campaign have all proven vacuous platitudes.

No he is not, JRM warns a no deal, he is even in a minority in his party.

Nothing to do with the apprentice levy. As someone who has designed and operated apprenticeships for 20 years the levy will benefit companies if they operate their apprenticeships properly, which I assure AIRBUS do and have done for many years. Typical LEAVER deflection tactic.
-
AIRBUs Cancelling all UK apprentice recruitment this year was not propaganda. They informed applicants two weeks ago, that’s high quality opperunitues for our youngsters gone, not a threat, not propaganda reality.

The Art of the Deal was written by Tony Schwartz, he has characterised it as putting lipstick on a pig! He has also stated “I feel a deep sense of remorse that I contributed to presenting Trump in a way that brought him wider attention and made him more appealing than he is.” Schwartz a young magazine writer also out-dealed Trump by securing 50% of the advance and 50% of the sales, ghost writers normally get 20% of each, so the great deal maker is no such thing, he was influenced by his ego not his business acumen (lack of it). The summit with Kim is also a farce as previous Presidents could have met with him but refused without Kim and previously his father ceasing all nucleate and ICBM research and development as a pre-requisite for a meeting. Trump is a chancer and self publicists who fools the fools easily.
