Tottenham 1-0 Southampton // Post-Match Reaction
Jimmy_D replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Assuming the worst for our own games, Norwich will find it difficult to go above us. They have to get at least two points from West Brom and Man City. Newcastle need two points from QPR and Arsenal. Sunderland would go above us as they play us. Wigan need 5 points from Swansea, Arsenal, and Villa. -
Tottenham 1-0 Southampton // Post-Match Reaction

Think you're way out there on your own with that opinion. Weird. -
****, they don't deserve that.
-
Decent effort, need to be taking those if we're going to have a chance though.
-
Saints and Brighton in the Prem would be a decent sort-of derby. It'd sqeeze Pompey's fan base even more as well
-
Dammit, that gets around Spurs 3pm kickoff curse.

'Pride of the South' There are at least six other teams that can claim that above them.
-
Yep, obviously, after going through the first four months of this year with five defeats, they're now guaranteed to not pick up another point in the remaining three games. See that Sunderland's appeal against the red card for Sessegnon has been thrown out.
-
I think it'll be one that, if it were suggested now, it'd be claimed to be unrealistic. (No, I don't have a clue who. I just think the club might surprise us.)

Great read, enjoyed that.

If Shaw's not fit, Clyne at left back, Cork at right back, Targett on the bench?

Thanks Turkish

SAINTS 0-3 West Bromwich Albion // Post-Match Reaction
Jimmy_D replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Bloody Hell. One bad day at the office and you'd think we were never going to win another game judging from some of the reaction on here. West Brom changed their tactics, got an early goal, and we never recovered from that. They did us over today, just like we did to Chelsea, Liverpool, and Man City. Add in to that we had a ref who might have got the big decisions right, but was shocking on the small ones, and it's a weekend to forget, but we're still on a run of what, five defeats in four months? On to the next game. -
There's also this that adds evidence for KD being a bit further up the crazy scale... http://s105.photobucket.com/user/PGCurtis/media/Screenshot2011-04-11at194112.png.html

Pochettino targets Champions League spot next season
Jimmy_D replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
It seems pretty clear to me that CL next season was banter with the media from Tino. It's possible, but I don't think the club are by any means planning on it. That said, I think we can imply from quotes from the players that CL IS being targeted and planned for in the next few seasons by the club. Part of the reason all the players we want to keep hold of have signed new contracts is that they're being sold a vision of Saints in the CL. Cortese doesn't strike me as the sort of person to target something like that without being able to back it up. As others have said, Summer spending will indicate how serious we are, but I don't imagine Tino will get any less to spend than Adkins was given. -
At 17, they can sign a three year pro deal. At 18, they can sign a five year pro deal. (or at least, that's how I understand it works)

Liverpool should Suarez out on loan to Guernsey with Le Tiss. He'd be back playing having served his ban in a couple of weeks.
-
If one of them draws and one of them loses with us winning, we're safe, if both draw with us winning, they could possibly both finish on the same points as us and we wouldn't be mathematically safe next monday. Also, if we don't win, we can't be mathematically safe next monday.
-
It'd be properly safe, with goal difference not making any difference at all.
-
We could be mathematically safe next monday. We're already 15 points ahead of Reading and QPR with 12 available to them. If we beat West Brom, Spurs beat Wigan, and Sunderland beat Villa, we'll be 8 points ahead of Villa with them having 9 available, and 11 ahead of Wigan with them having 12 available. As they play each other, one or the other could then catch us, but not both, leaving us outside the bottom three.

(Obligatory joke about getting three points however he can)
