Palace away in cup in 1972,think we lost 2-0, but saw us win there in league about 3 months later 3-2.[i think I have those scores the right way around].

I said we would lose 2-1, so I am not surprised by the result. However I feel that we thought all we had to do was turn up to win. Slightly worrying that the last 2 games we have been 2 down[ league games], and only managed 1 point . Norwich is now a massive game.[ I thought 1st half especially Murray was a class apart with his finishing and composure].

Rather we beat them next week at home in the league to be honest.

Head says 2-1 Brighton[ Poyet factor and my [favourite ] law of averages. Heart says 4-2 Saints.

How about Lew Chatterly against bottom of the table[ and already adrift at christmas] Sheffield Wednesday in 1975, he was certainly not liked then by the dell crowd.

I am delighted to say that I got the score the wrong way around. I thought we played well, and made Charlton look very ordinary. Nice to keep the run going, which is very important. Now for the toughie against Brighton. Hopefully we will get as many as 25,000 even with the game being on sky. Great also to see Mr Liebherr at the game as well.

Charlton will definately be up for this game, due to their cup demise at the weekend. Saints probably will not in the grand scheme of things, so I will not be in the least bit surprised to see an away win tomorrow night.[Also the law of averages says we are due a defeat]. I have no real problem with that as long as we continue to progress up the table in the league,starting with another 3 points on sunday.[Tough one again due to being localish derby and the naming of their new manager today].

Another terrific win, despite the late wobble. Connolly is total class and if he can keep fit, he can push Rickie Lambert all the way in the goalscoring stakes. Antonio scored a great goal also, we definately need to try and sign him on a permanent deal.

Sounds like a top guy, best wishes to Kevin and his family. I have been unable to work for 5 years due to a serious illness. However I am in a far better position than the very unfortunate Kevin Moore and would happily donate a few pounds to any fund that maybe set up to help him.

I agree with WATERSIDEIFASAINT, we should try to sign Lee Barnard, you cannot have too many goalscorers in a team. Southend appear to be in desperate trouble financially, so he must be worth a try.[ After all how many players did we have to let go in firesales]. It would also be great if we could agree a deal for Trotman, and get rid of some of the deadwood- i.e Perry, Thomas, Lancashire, Gillet, Patterson, etc.

The report on Orients website says we totally battered them, so perhaps a draw is disappointing. However coming back from 2 down away from home shows character.[i said 1-1 to a mate, because the law of averages says we were going to drop points sooner than later]. Also this result will prove to the players that they still have plenty of work to do, to get up the league.

I do not like Leeds at any cost, so 6 points off them would be absolutely wonderful.

My two all time favourite Saints are numbers 1 and 2, seems pretty good to me.

Thanks for the update TT, as I have stated in previous posts, Ron was by far and away the greatest centre forward I have ever seen.

Dean Hammond was not moving freely around the pitch,even before his goal last saturday. So presumably, whatever niggle he had has not fully cleared up. He will definately be missed if unavailable at Orient. It is very important we keep our run going, and we have to match the endeavour of sides like Orient and then hopefully let our football take over. Therefore if Hammond does need replacing it is very important that AP replaces him with the right player.[ If Mellis is selected , could he be too lightweight for the job]

After we equalized we totally ripped them apart.[ We were more than unlucky to go in a goal down to their only shot of the half]. If Paul Ince does not say that we are the best side they have played all season I will be very surprised. Absolutely delighted, that we kept attacking instead of sitting back, when we took the lead.

I hope the club can get Ron over sooner than later. Best header of a ball I have ever seen. I also hope he can in time, over come this major loss.

The reason he was sacked is primarily because The Riverside gates were at an all time low, because the fans disliked the football they were playing at home.[ That is from my cousin a life long Boro fan].

Started watching Saints a couple of years after he left. Was highly thought of , by Ted Bates, so that will do for me. R.I.P Dave.

If we approach each game properly we will now beat most teams in this league. They are very strong defensively, so we will have to play very well to beat them.
