  1. He wasn't fit. Not just his ankle, but more so his mental fatigue. I just don't see the same Rooney as the eruros in 2004 though, he was running at players, beating them and leaving them in his wake and scoring some cracking goals. Is this another example of an english player that has peaked way too early?
  2. Quite easily our worst ever tournament, the fact that we suffered our biggest ever defeat in finals history says it all.
  3. Rumours going around that Chris Lines has signed.
  4. best goal of the world cup so far. what would the argies have done if they faced us? massacre!
  5. Even at their best they're still pretty average players, nothing special - not when compared to the likes of Mascherano, Schweinsteiger, Silva, Alonso etc... we really don't have many good players. All of our CM's are too slow and pedestrian.
  6. Get Roy Hodgson before liverpool get him. Or failing that, Gus Hiddink. A manager proven at the top level.
  7. Capello is undisputed at club level and his honours are up there with the best, but i think he's tried to bring his club management style onto the international scene and is too stubborn to change his way, and i think you need to. You cannot manage an international team the same as a club team, it doesn't work.
  8. wow, that was pathetic. The England media are as much to blame for the expectation as anyone, where are these world class players they keep bollocking on about? We don't have any. They are ''good'' club level players, when they are around the foreign players Lampard - Essien at Chelsea Terry and Carvhalo at chelsea.. gerrard and masch at liverpool.... the foreigners make our players look much better than they actually are. I'm not saying they're crap crap players, they're just not world class as the media keep boasting. an example of a proper international class player is David Beckham, and unfortunately we couldn't use him. Goals at world cups, euros, real madrid, ac milan... man utd. None of the current players in our team would get close to that sort of level. We're too slow at the back, Glen Johnson and Upson are not international players and never ever will be. They're there because we have no better, that's the crux of it. Yep the 2-2 should have stood, but that doesn't matter because we deserved to lose that 2/3 times over. Abysmal, and Capello needs to shoulder some blame as well for this. Pathetic preparation. Let's just enjoy the rest of the world cup now. and roll on the new season....
  9. I would be gobsmacked if we signed any players that are currently in the Qfs of the world cup. We'd be lucky to attract them even being in the championship. Our level is a million miles away from the level they're playing atm.
  10. It seems like the opposite of the last world cup. We had the group games full of goals and 3-2 games, but the last 16 and the rest of the knockouts were pretty drab games. - but on the basis of the last few ''knock out'' group games and the first game today, it's setting up to be much more exciting. Feel sorry for South Korea, just felt they lacked a real proven goal scorer - and Uruguay have those in abundance. I remember watching Suraez take us apart at St Mary's, thought he looked a good player then!
  11. Best backup keeper in the league, to add to the general tone of us having the best of everything in this league.
  12. really good, plays for Udinese in Italy and is very highly rated. The save from rooney when he hit the post was fantastic, although he did scuff it slightly.
  13. you missed the first 2 games then. This was as well as we've played in a while, and the 1-0 scoreline flatters them in all honesty. They should have been out of sight.
  14. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gj_06hLQPdk enough said.
  15. SWP should be nowhere near the team anyway, so suprised he got called up.
  16. We will sign players properly and professionally, like we have done all along. You'll hear the rumours a day before a certain player is set to sign, and it's not usually a player that has generally been speculated about. The club have done a great job of keeping transfers underwraps in the last 12 months.
  17. we'll be lucky to get a draw if we play like that.
  18. Not sure tbh, i think it would be asking for trouble adding another out of form player who's lacking confidence. Theo needs a year of regular football before he should play international football again.
  19. Sounds like you had a more entertaining night than the rest of us
  20. I will bet your money that the team will be - James Johnson - Upson - Terry - Cole Lennon - Barry - Lampard - Gerrard Defoe - Rooney i just think Capello is too stubborn to make radical changes.
  21. i'm sure he would have offered a bit more than heskey!
  22. Rooney isn't fit, he shouldn't even be there IMO.
  23. QF of Euro 2004 probably.
  24. i tell you what, roll on the season. International football is ****e. (although i probably won't be saying that after a 0-0 at Dagenham)
  25. i like capello, but he had no idea tonight. Was totally lost.
