He's a steady defender, I don't see him as a wing back type as he's not particularly quick and his attacking instincts aren't really there (so not sure he’s a long term fit for us). As a defender though, a pure RB, he seems like he's got a decent future.
-
He will always be remembered fondly here. Top pro, was a terrific player for us in the Koeman seasons (and MP as well tbf). Scored our second goal on our return to the PL to give us the lead against City, and was generally solid and sound in his years here - a key cog in our progress. Obviously age has caught up with him a little bit now and he deserves a final swansong where he wants it to be.

I'm staggered at how the previous 3 managers (Hughes, Pellegrino and Puel) found the squad OK in terms of pace and squad size. It's just become too bloated with average. It hasn't taken Ralph long to realise that we need pace and we need to trim the squad a bit, that's been needed for 3 damn seasons now. What a difference it makes having an actual manager who sees the game how he wants to see it, and isn't trying to play along with a club philosophy of passing football. (Which means nothing)
-
Personally, in my view, the limitations in the creative department is all down to a lack of pace. That's our huge issue up top and has been for ages. Bringing Gallagher in isn't going to change much. The ball is lumped forward as there is no one quick enough to make runs in behind or down the channels, so it becomes a bit of a hit and hope from the CB's as the final third is so condensed. I personally think players like Armstrong and Hojbjerg would really appreciate some pace in the final third, so many times on Sunday they looked up and everything was condensed as we had no pace, so they had to go backwards…then the CB would just hit it and hope. Pace is an urgent, urgent requirement throughout our side. I think Ralf thinks that too.
-
Didn't really happen for him at Marseille, never seemed to hold down a place. Didn't have a huge amount of game time at Lorient before that either, but granted he was young then. He's struggled to hold down a place at any of his clubs so far.
-
He'd look good in space as I think he has good vision, but as a winger when he's up against full backs he's just pointless. No pace or strength. Needs time and space on the ball in the number 10 position. I doubt he'll get that in the PL though, so I can imagine he'll be shifted off soon.
-
I think we're starting to see why he's fallen flat at so many clubs. Attribute wise he has plenty, good skill, power, pace. His application is absolutely shocking though and I think that's in his makeup.
-
This is what you get with Hoj, he fits a high pressing system very well...but I've always seen him as quite an ill-disciplined player. Got a lot to learn in that respect.
-
Decent tactical managers will always like players such as JWP and Hojbjerg. They're clever, tactically aware, can do multiple jobs. They need to be complimented by power and runners though.
-
He's seemingly sussed out Cedric and Hoedt in the first month or so he's been here, so that's a huge positive to me. Two of our most unlikable players ever.
-
They were way better than us last night, we looked confused and tired. Both full backs for us were absolute garbage, it has to be said. Lemina was Lemina, you think he's decent and then he does that. Redmond just ran into dead ends all night and we weren't able to stretch them. Good honest assessment from RH at the end though, that's why I feel confident that these displays will become few and far between over time.
-
I really hope he leaves. Can't stand him.
-
I love the fact he's already figured him out. Joke defender.
-
Huge respect for Redmond for how he's stepped up this year. He has been a totally different player all season, taking people on, getting in behind, stronger with and without the ball. Our biggest attacking outlet right now.
-
God it's refreshing what a tactically aware manager can bring to a side. Obviously there are still flaws and issues which need to be resolved by 'wheeling and dealing', but he's connecting this side back with the fans. A side which has been so disconnected from the fan base, he's joining it all back up again. I didn’t see that happening. He's a manager in the mould of Klopp/Pep/Poch, no doubts about it. It's the way he gives players confidence, makes them believe in themselves and seemingly gives them an extra 10% on the pitch. We've got something here, I can feel it.

To be fair the main reason we got him at that price was because he had 6 months left on his QPR deal.

Manolo Gabbiadini: Joins Sampdoria - Official

Flatters to deceive, doesn't score goals and struggles to impact games in the main. We should be trying to replace our non-scorers, so this is a start. -
Get rid of both, bring in Marega from Porto.

Saints 3 - Arsenal 2 - I should start threads more often

He speaks better English than Redknapp. F'sure. -
You make your own luck by putting in the effort/forcing the oppo into making mistakes....

If we play with the same intensity and spirit as we did yesterday, and press as well as we did yesterday, then I honestly don't think Huddersfield will be able to handle us to be honest. Every game is different though and we still have players capable of brain farts, so who knows!
-
I think it's a pretty clear dig, otherwise he could have just said ''Great win lads, really good performance!'' - but as a player, to mention tactics improving (after the previous manager was sacked), you are seemingly sharing a gripe there. But I think we can all see it, we had a plan yesterday and it was refreshing to see.
-
Read the game well, some terrific interceptions and good passing from the back. I was surprised when he vanished from the line-up this season, as I thought he was really good for us during the back end of last season. He's a strong/powerful CB and I think works really well as a 3 on the right side.
-
He has really stepped it up this year, but is still lacking that final product at key moments (the pass/the cross etc). Hopefully he can pick that up in his game, as he'll then move into a different level.
