  1. Unfortunately I think Liverpool set up perfectly to take advantage of our weaknesses, as we are incapable of hurting teams on the counter they'll dominate the ball and find holes at the back to break us down. Not a game I'm looking forward to, despise the club / fans and dlckhead of a manager, was a beautiful sight seeing Klopp so upset at Spurs late equaliser. Last season was brilliant not losing to them in 4 games, lets hope we can do it again. I'd take a point.

    Jack Stephens

I like Stephens, I like his attitude and his youthful enthusiasm especially in celebrating when he scores, he needs to learn to mark better and get stronger in the air. I saw him play very well as a defensive midfielder at Swindon a couple of years ago and he impressed in that position, I can see him playing in that position again one day but for now lets hope he can remove some of the mistakes from his game, will be great to have him and Ward-prowse as academy graduates in the starting line up.
  3. Support was good, shame we were about 500 short of selling out for such an important game but still decent numbers and noise. Players seemed to appreciate it coming over with their shirts at the end.
  4. Away teams are "entitled" to 15% however West Brom segregation means there are only 2 options 1) the standard 2737 allocation or 2) the whole end which is about 5300 I believe we're entitled to the bigger allocation if we'd asked for it but FA cup rules now mean we'd have to pay for any unsold tickets in the bigger allocation unless agreed otherwise by the club's. We're a few hundred short of selling out for Saturday so hardly surprising we've opted for the 2737 allocation despite the decent prices. A fair % of our fans will fit into the over 60 or u23 £10 price range.
  5. Amazes me how clueless some fans are on this, as you say basic allocation is always sale or return at no cost to the away club so absolutely no point boycotting, only time it costs us money is when we take additional tickets on a guaranteed sale basis (like Chelsea 1500 basic sale or return, next 1500 on a guaranteed sale) and it’s because we didn’t sell out a couple of times the club are reluctant to take additional allocations. WBA don’t split their allocations so whole 2700 is sale or return.

    WBA Build Up

I think we’ll line up in a similar way to last night with our cautious clown in charge, his tactics will be one of ‘try not to lose’ rather than going for the win. The negativity of our tactics stops our more creative players from hurting other sides. Lots of crosses into the box with no one on the end of them . We’re incapable of playing on the counter with no pace. Pardew talks of getting his team to play without fear and they certainly looked that way at Anfield, however they were well beaten last night and a 3-0 defeat at City was kind on them, could easily have been more. Massive game for us , fair play to the 2500 fans making the trip, still a few hundred tickets available.

Deal off, well that was f/cking dreadful saints
  8. I agree, Spurs at home was a good atmosphere we could do with a repeat of that. Plenty of tickets still left for tonight. Brighton have sold out and will bring a noisy following. Try to be positive and hope the players react. Not sure I could take a 0-1 defeat though, if that happens fans have every right to be negative.
  9. I agree, the club knew the VVD deal was wrapped up in early December, they had time to identify requirements and make bids for them and all we’ve got is our (tactically inept) managers mate from Argentina. I really want to be proved wrong on Carrillo but everything I’ve seen and read implies he is not the answer to our goal scoring woes. It will be interesting tonight at the Brighton game if we’re losing with no confirmation of any more transfers.
  10. West Brom struggle to sell out for Premier league games so fingers crossed they price this sensibly and make tickets £15, would be good to get a decent following up there like we had at Fulham, but considering we haven’t got close to selling out for the league game this weekend I can’t see us taking more than 2500. Hopefully stays as a Saturday 3pm kick off.
  11. Not just avoided each other but also got comfortable draws , tv companies have paid a lot of money to ensure there are at least Man Utd , Spurs, Chelsea and Man City in the last 8. Millwall v Spurs could be a good one, otherwise a very dull draw really. Apparently last time Brighton got to the cup final they also went down? Last 8 will be: Man Utd Man City Spurs Chelsea Brighton Leicester Sheffield Wednesday WBA In my opinion
  12. Makes sense, home game we should win against a league two side , cheap tickets again and they’d bring down 5000 to make a good atmosphere of it as well, took nearly 8000 to MK Dons yesterday. I’d like to avoid playing any of Chelsea, Spurs, Man Utd or Man City .
  13. About 23-24k at the moment including away fans , plenty left so if weather is nice might get a decent walk up. Makes a change to have a Saturday 3pm game you can just turn up and pay on the day for.
  14. This signing is the clearest indication yet that the board are backing and are going to stick with Pellegrino as Guido is clearly his man with strong connections from their days together in Argentina. Is he registered in time and fit to feature at some point on Saturday?
  15. Brighton fans certainly see it that way, bloke I work with has his ticket and reckons they sold out all 3300 virtually straight away. Loads of home end tickets still available. Massive game, got to be up for this one.
  16. Ah the dreaded FA cup flu, at least that gives the manager plenty of scope for playing a weakened team without being criticised for it. Lucky we haven’t made any new signings yet as they might have caught it as well. Did they mention which other players also have the sniffles?
  17. I reckon there will be plenty of late buyers and we’ll end up with a crowd of 27k or so, price is good, performance against Spurs was much better plus Watford are bringing quite a few down, they’ve sold 3600 so far so even if they don’t sell out the 4500 we’ve given them they’ll still have plenty there. Most of the season ticket holders I know are going but many choosing to sit in a different area for a change, £12 for a half way line seat isn’t bad. Who knows if we announce an exciting signing in the next day or two that might attract a few more.
  18. I’d love to win this and get a cup run going, but clearly the club are going to prioritise Brighton at home in midweek. Watford also have a big game away to Stoke on 31st so if both sides make many changes it will be a battle to see who has greater squad depth. Fair play to Watford, they’ve sold just over 3000 so far and are confident they’ll shift all 4500 tickets by next Saturday, will hopefully make it a decent cup atmosphere.
  19. That’s really disappointing to read, but not at all surprising, we had this under Cortese when fans had season tickets revoked for writing an article criticising him, and in this case you are more than entitled to protest and let them know what you think even if that doesn’t meet the squeaky clean image the club try to portray. This isn’t China, you are allowed free speech. Our security is a joke, confiscating pieces of paper and threatening saints fans in Itchen north with ejection but allow a box of spurs fans to be mouthy all game at the back of the block. If we’d been 2-0 down at half time there would have been protests, but as it was we saw a team actually putting in some effort and the fans responded and backed them. If the transfer window is a disaster and we lose to Brighton I’d expect protests are back on the agenda then.
  20. It was a nice novelty to finish the game with the majority of home fans still in the stands and even more so that thousands stayed to applaud the effort the players put in, tough game on a heavy pitch we looked absolutely knackered from 60 mins onwards. I still feel we’re going down as just can’t see us putting a run together, hope I’m proved wrong and we make a decent signing before the end of the month rather than bringing the mascot on again for the last 15 mins.
  21. There used to be a lady who'd fly over from Switzerland for home games but she rarely bothers now.
  22. im fairly sure I recognise the fan in the black jacket and glasses from Hartlepool away on a Tuesday a few years back, spent most of the game giving it the big one to the home fans and singing the Woolston Ferry.

    U18's

It's a sorry state of affairs, the resources our academy apparently has should be able to produce a team good enough to beat Blackpool but I'm not surprised by the result. Doesn't reflect well on the academy.
  24. There’s been a VERY low take up by season ticket holders to secure their usual seats. On sale to members tomorrow then general sale , looks like many regulars are giving this a miss or waiting to sit elsewhere in the ground.
  25. I watch a lot of the u23 games whether online on at St Mary’s and the standard has been declining gradually, not just the standard of players but the entertainment of the games, we're poor to watch at every level at the moment. I also notice a big drop in the number of people that turn up for games at St Mary’s despite it being free compared to a few years ago when there was a real buzz around. When saints were banging on about our academy and the “we don’t buy success we breed it” it’s worth noting the youngsters making a name for themselves at the time like Ward-Prowse, Shaw and Chambers has all been with the club since the Lowe days and the current ownership had been lucky to inherit them. U18s are away to Blackpool in FA Youth cup 4th round tonight will be interesting to see how they get on.
