  1. There is absolutely no way they will leave it until 2nd August to confirm, it will not be on the Saturday. They confirmed our game with Newcastle would be on the Sunday before we got through against Arnhem and ended up playing Midgetland. We'll just have to see first if it's selected for tv then they'll confirm the change. I actually hope Burnley get through the qualifiers and get to enjoy the group stages after the season they had last season they deserve it. Would be nice if they do that by playing in Kazakhstan on 9th August and struggle when they come to our place a few days later.
  2. Burnley at home will most likely be on Sunday as they'll be in a Europa league qualifier the Thursday before (hopefully somewhere involving a long flight)
  3. Perhaps we need to start looking at things from a different angle. We assume Saints trip to China in July is to boost awareness of Southampton FC amongst Mr Gao's fellow Chinamen, but perhaps it's a subtle attempt to raise our awareness of the Chinese league? Before we know it we'll all be subscribing to whichever channel has the rights to their matches.
  4. The kit launch does appear to be terribly uncoordinated verging on incompetence, it's as if Saints are controlling the launch in UK with Under Armour going ahead and doing their own thing internationally, very odd as makes saints official launch pointless. Not fussed about the kit, yellow and blue away always a favourite for me so pleased if that's the case.
  5. Exactly, Shilton is England's record cap holder and he made more of his England appearances as a Saints player than he did at any other club, incredible for the club to have signed players like him and European player of the year Keegan - but looking back we really should have won some silverware in the early 80s. I wonder where the club would be now if we'd done the double in 1984?
  6. You'd expect us to get a good price if he was sold to Man City, or even Napoli if they've got cash to spend, I think he has potential to be a lynchpin of the side but he did have some stinkers last season , especially the semi final where he was a disgrace. Someone seems to be putting his name out there so perhaps his agent is looking to push for a move.
  7. Fair play to anyone who makes it out there, I've done pre season abroad in Norway, Sweden and Feyenoord , all were great trips , seeing Saints play in China would be amazing experience. I've got a feeling we'll play an away game in Europe as well , hopefully the club announce it with a bit of notice.
  8. He has to stay in some capacity for continuity, plus his son's agent business is completely reliant on signing up our academy players. I noticed an earlier poster recommended he retire to Spain, I'm sure he already has a comfortable pension pot built up with commission he made from all our sales to Liverpool. Too much of a coincidence for us to sell 6 players between two Premier league clubs in such a short period of time.
  9. Not even an ex-Saint in there, can’t bring myself to want this England team to do well. Defeat in first knock out stage.
  10. Everton are such a strange club, add up the millions they've spent on manager acquisition and compensation and you've got to question the top level management there. There are still question marks over the source of funds with links to Usmanov, very shady. Nevertheless let's hope they continue to waste money , their policy of spending big on players past their prime with no sell on value , perhaps they'll "win the transfer window " again. Going to be a strange summer with so many new managers set to be appointed in the Premier League, plus a short transfer window finishing in early August we've got to be well organised to get business done. When I look at our competitors like Leicester (Puel), West Ham, Newcastle, Brighton, Bournemouth, Huddersfield, Burnley, Cardiff etc I can't see any of them pushing on much more.
  11. I used to be a regular at England games home and away but now get more enjoyment laughing at their defeats , constant bias towards poorly performing big club players, I think final straw for me was having 3 called up for 2014 world cup only for them all to leave before the tournament began. Not a fan of Southgate , he belonged with the u21s. I'll probably enjoy watching non-England games more, hopefully see a few upsets. Will like to see Iceland do well again and will follow the fortunes of saints players represented , especially Yoshida. Wonder if Saints are sending a few scouts over?
  12. They're not going to have time to have a long renewal window, hoping for a price reduction behind the goals, but expect a price freeze. I get people who don't want to renew due to being disillusioned with the Premier league, although would have more respect if they did that after we finished 6th rather than coinciding with us being a bit rubbish again. What was our average league attendance this season? Must be around 31000 which is fairly decent considering results and lack of home wins.
  13. Fingers crossed Marseille use their windfall from Europa league run to give us £15M for Boufal to recoup funds and we can write this off as a bad signing and move on. He's definitely better suited to the French league. Someone once described him as playing as if he was watching himself in the mirror which was spot on in my opinion, all about him and zero awareness of the team. I'd hoped he'd follow in the footsteps of Hassan Kachloul but it wasn't to be so no need to get the Fez out for fancy dress away day.
  14. It will be similar to when we went to America start of the Under Armour deal, early July so was a lot of u21s as many first team players hadn't reported back yet. Same again then a proper tour in Europe when most first team members are back. Brentford was great last year , something like that again would do.

    Play offs

Yeah loads it's basically like the royal rumble in wrestling , massive free for all with fists flying everywhere
  16. I certainly feel there's been a bit too much "job done" message from Saints, behind closed doors I hope Hughes has drummed into them we are not safe yet and any celebrating can wait for Sunday night. Any result that keeps us up will do, but would be nice to finish the season with a point or a win. Should imagine we'll try to set up like Huddersfield did and frustrate them.
  17. Ridiculous thing to say, if you want to protest aim it at the board after the game - Hughes and the players who have put the effort in over the last month deserve the celebration / plaudits and I’ll certainly give him a warm round of applause if they do a lap of the pitch. Looks like we’ve got out of jail this season but I’ve really enjoyed the buzz of the last few games, brings back great memories of the 90s. As to this game - hopefully Man City play a few youngsters and we can finish the season with a point or three.
  18. absolutely gutted to see Burton Albion relegated yesterday, going to make it even harder to take when we go down. Reading will have to be our local derby next season.
  19. A win would keep us up but going to be a massive challenge, not sure we’ve got it in us after such a gutting ending to today’s game. I think Swansea will play for a draw and try to hit us on the break. We’ll be cautious as well to begin with . Everton really were there for the taking today, feels like a defeat.
  20. Arsenal will lose at Huddersfield 100%
  21. Will the silverware be paraded on the pitch before Man City at home?
  22. Unfortunately 1st May every year is becoming our annual reminder of how long it’s been since we won a major trophy , obviously was a great achievement for the club and a magic day for those of you old enough to have been there, but with the players we’ve had in 80s and recently we should have added some silverware to the cabinet. But fear not, tomorrow night all that will change when Southampton F.C. are victorious over Blackfield & Langley in the Southampton Senior Cup at St Mary’s, if we win would love to see us parade the cup on the pitch before Man City at home just to see the confusion on their fans / players faces.
  23. Might have a few quid on that and on Swansea to beat Bournemouth. What are the odds on Huddersfield to win at Man City? The more I look at it I just can’t see us getting anything at Goodison, even when we’ve been at our best last few years we didn’t manage to win there, just hope subconsciously Schneiderlin, Walcott and Martina help out and do us a favour. Doesn’t look like we’ll sell out but on course to sell about 2500 which is a decent effort for us 5.30 TV game
  24. Does my head in, they usually follow it up with “Theo Walcott he wants to come home” and get all giddy if he gives them a clap.
  25. I can definitely see Stoke sneaking a win against Palace, could make it interesting as they’d go to Swansea last game still with something to play for. As great as it was to win on Saturday I think it’s to late for us, Huddersfield will get something home to Arsenal last game, we really need Bournemouth to do us a favour against Swansea on Saturday and we are going to need to win at Swansea I think.
