  1. Unfortunately I doubt it. Anyway they could play reserves and we could play our strongest team and they'd still beat us - just because it's Everton at Goodison and we never get anything there. We've sold 1700 for Liverpool a few days before and are on course to sell out 3000 at Wolves a few days after, this will be a really low turn out from us . Here's Evertons side from cup game this week: Everton 22Stekelenburg 43Kenny 2Holgate 5Zouma 12DigneBooked at 52mins 28Dowell 26Davies 9RamírezSubstituted forSchneiderlinat 86'minutes 10G SigurdssonSubstituted forWalcottat 66'minutes 29Calvert-Lewin 19NiasseSubstituted forTosunat 74'minutes Substitutes 3Baines 11Walcott 14Tosun 18Schneiderlin 23Coleman 33Neves Virgínia 38Pennington
  2. This seems really half hearted from Brighton, they've built their ground in an awkward location on the provision they have transport arrangements provided and just because they're expecting a small crowd they're not bothering with them. I remember going to the Withdean in league one and they had a system in place then despite a tiny ground. We'll have over 2000 there mostly going by road ffs
  3. I’ve done that before myself as well, give them a call Tuesday am. The ticket news says you can pay on the day at Brighton, price goes up but might be easier for some of our fans who can’t get to st Mary’s to just do that, hopefully will encourage a few more to make a late decision and travel down on the day.
  4. I agree with you. Atmosphere has been steadily declining at home games as well, 70% of home fans make no noise whatsoever.
  5. Would imagine both sides will be virtually fully changed , we definitely have players who could do with game time, especially Gunn, Yoshida, Targett, Ward-Prowse, Gabbiadini Looks like over 2000 Saints fans making the journey, hopefully we'll be rewarded with a decent performance.
  6. Brighton fan I work with reckons there will be about 7000 home fans there, so if we take a couple of thousand we’ll have a fair percentage of the crowd. We’ve almost sold out the first 3 blocks , should shift a few more over the weekend and you can pay on the day . Not an easy one to do by train, would need to go via Clapham on the way back.
  7. I said almost exactly the same thing, plus we'll probably go out. Looks like Brighton usually play midweek home games on a Tues so most likely the 28th
  8. This argument about 3 centre backs is already becoming tiresome. Clearly it worked in some games for us last year and we are going to continue to use it especially against teams with more attacking threat. For it to work properly we need wing backs to get involved in attacks and pace up front to hit teams on the break. Austin doesn't give us that. We looked completely uncoordinated in pre season games so it seems Hughes has identified the system but not the players who suit to play in it. I read Richarlson may be a doubt for the weekend, fingers crossed.
  9. I think this is a nailed on Everton win, we can change our managers, change our players, change our formation but some things never change and that is we just don't win at Goodison (or get any luck) . I expect we'll play with 3 centre backs and try to hit them on the break so will try to utilise what pace we have in the squad. Everton have several new signings to settle in so fingers crossed we can somehow scrape a draw.
  10. Have they rested any players? Hopefully they’ll have to play a similar side on Sunday and we can take advantage
  11. Is Burnley's game in Istanbul being shown on tv? Can't find it listed, will be an interesting game to follow and a distraction on transfer deadline day. Burnley must be travelling today so won't leave long to integrate new signings before the weekend. Joe Hart, Gibson and Vydra are good signings for them.
  12. It’s great news for the match going fan, Saturday 3pm away days confirmed, this must be a record for us only having two games picked for tv in first 4 months of the season, Brighton a bit annoying being a Monday night but Chelsea was going to move anyway due to Europa so might as well make it a TV game. Having Palace, Fulham, Wolves , Man City away Saturday 3pm some good trips to be had there plus Bournemouth being a Saturday makes a nice change.
  13. I think I've seen Lemina have more poor games for us than good ones. On his day clearly has potential but when he's been bad he's mistakes are costly. Semi final v Chelsea was one of the worst performances I've seen. Hope he comes good but not sure he's earned a starting place.
  14. I’m pinning my hopes on Burnley playing their strongest team in Istanbul on Thursday night and picking up some knocks, fingers crossed Pope and Heaton are still injured. They will keep it tight and try to nick a 1-0 like they did last season , I’ll go for0-0
  15. Doesn't look like that many tickets sold for this considering season ticket holders could claim a free one, nice day with a Saturday 3pm kick off hopefully a decent walk up and make the ground seem more full than it was on Wednesday.
  16. I think we’ll struggle but will guess at 15th, hoping for an improvement in home form, we were far to easy to play against last season , such a shame that we’ve wasted money on a grand scale, big money players Boufal and Carrillo out on loan,Forster sat on the bench collecting a massive salary, I can’t really criticise Saints for not spending money , just some very bad decisions. Plenty of other teams that could also struggle next season , Huddersfield, Fulham, Brighton, Cardiff, Watford and Burnley will be bottom 3rd of the table along with us
  17. That’s a tough draw for them , both in terms of travel distance and quality of opposition, not sure they’d be able to rest too many players. I hope they get through against Aberdeen as this would help us, although Burnley are exactly the sort of team we struggled with last season, classic 0-0 sort of game.
  18. It seems that many of you are struggling to make space for our creative midfielder James Ward-Prowse, we could do with his set piece deliveries now that we have some height in the team
  19. Bertrand should have gone to the World Cup 100% in my opinion, shame to see him left out but hope he comes back fresh for us. The record books will show England reached the semi finals which looks like a great achievement but in reality we only beat Tunisia, Panama and Sweden , nothing that amazing.
  20. If it's the same this season then Saints actually charge away fans £30 like every other club in the Premier league, it's our sponsors at Virgin media who decided to subsidise them further. I'd prefer it if they did that for all our away tickets as well but won't lose sleep over it. Swansea and Everton for £10 was good last season.
  21. For the first two months of the season we've had one game moved for tv (Brighton) the rest remain as Saturday 3pm except for Burnley moved due to Europa league , that game moving comes as no surprise to us having been in the Europa league ourselves very recently. Our 2nd home game of the season is Leicester which is Saturday 3pm on a bank holiday weekend .
  22. Delgado contributed more than Carrillo, Arsenal home game 3-2 win for example. He’s been a disaster of a signing, criminal waste of money on Pellegrino’s mate, clearly not in our plans for next season. Anyone know if the China friendlies are going to be streamed?
  23. He's no Egil Ostenstad but nonetheless I look forward to digging out my Viking helmet for the last away game of the season.
  24. Leicester have done well in the transfer window so far I think, Evans is a sound signing with the experience he brings to go alongside the excellent Maguire , Maddison will be a good buy for them but not sure if he'll fit as a replacement for Mahrez. Think we can close this thread now.
  25. Of course I stand corrected, but point still stands they will move the Burnley game to the Sunday rather than wait for confirmation a week before.
