  1. It will **** me off if we miss out by one game, I wanted to visit the new stadium this year before we get relegated and really can't be bothered to go to Wembley again for another souless defeat. Our fans have already been negatively impacted by Spurs inability to provide a home ground for their Man City game resulting in our trip to the Etihad being shifted by 24 hours after many had already booked train tickets.
  2. Gunn is a future England no. 1 , i expect him to become our first choice once he gets a run in the side. Excellent signing just a shame we didn't get Maddison as well. Doesn't sound like McCarthy injury is that bad, real shame for the lad to drop out as he might have got his first cap. Hopefully he'll get another chance in November.
  3. Interesting comments by Hoedt on here about that lack of defensive specific training sessions, something they did much more of in Italy. Makes you think as surely this is something Hughes would have identified we need big improvement on https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/16972495.southampton-defender-wesley-hoedt-im-really-self-critical/?ref=rss
  4. We'll never be able to replay that scenario to test your theory that players would have stayed so it's pure speculation really. The initial loss of players in 2014 wasn't too bad as they were more than adequately replaced anyway. Rather than get caught up on a "this wouldn't happen if Cortese was still here" argument it's better to just focus on our current regime shortcomings. Cortese has no pedigree as a premier league chairman to prove otherwise.
  5. Absolute waste of time that competition. If we're going to bother entering at least play our strongest u21s, but instead we play even younger lads with virtually no experience. Hamblin number 70. Cambridge record low attendance. Shambles, we shouldn't be in this anyway.
  6. The attendance figure published is wrong. Chelsea sold out their 3300 and as of Sunday morning there was roughly 600 tickets left to buy in the home end. It was a bigger crowd than what we had for Leicester or Brighton.
  7. No way was it just 27000, that is incorrect as there was not 5000 empty seats. 1000 at the very most .
  8. We’ll probably play a similar side to the one that won at Brighton in the last round. Silva will make plenty of changes as well no doubt, but they will be too strong for us. I’ve been impressed with Angus Gunn , will be interesting to see how he performs as he’ll have plenty to do.
  9. Each to their own at the end of the day but I've always found Wolves to be a welcoming place for away fans, here's us receiving a warm welcome in 2004 enjoying their hospitality and mingling outside the pub
  10. Everton and Chelsea both played on Sunday and didn't want to play Tuesday. Liverpool and Chelsea have European football next week so our game had to move. Obviously we'll get knocked out but at least we still get the buzz of being in the 4th round draw (live on freeview channel Quest 9pm Saturday night prime time slot ) I think we'll take a few more than a couple of hundred but won't be many. Perhaps 800 at most. Will be like the good old days of late 90s away following, spread out and stand where you want with plenty of spare seats.
  11. We sold out the 3000 allocation really quickly which is unusual for us in a game north of Birmingham, will be a good turn out but unfortunately the away end at Wolves is poor for getting a decent atmosphere, whole lower tier along the side stand where often fans at one end of the stand are singing something completely different to those at the other. As for the game I think most likely a defeat, they play perfect way to capitalise on our weaknesses. 2-0.
  12. The first half was good, but as usual we don't take our chances, Redmond having a good season and I think Hojbjerg will develop into a top midfielder. Anyone know why Armstrong and Romeu were not even on the bench? Romeu would have been preferable to Ward-Prowse when we were hanging on. The light show did seem to get the fans going pre match.
  13. You should still go if you've paid for a ticket, might not be that bad depending on who is in front of you, plus you get to contribute to the atmosphere and go mental when Hoedt powers in a header for our last min winner in a 3-2 thriller.
  14. I've said before Liverpool should not be allowed to sell those seats, 'severely restricted view with a measly £3 off. Should be £5 to reflect what you are getting. Looks like we've managed to sell them all.
  15. You won't get to see the game from the back row which is probably a blessing. Objective has to be keep goals down to protect our goal difference
  16. The cricketers or Duke of Wellington will be best bet, early ko doesn't leave much time
  17. I feel sorry that the poor lads didn’t get to see as much of the local area as they wanted to due to the poor weather, would be great PR for the local tourist board to invite them back at no expense and offer them a VIP tour. I’m sure they’d be up for coming back as they seem quite taken by what Salisbury has to offer.
  18. Police figures are nonsense in that report , both games were probably some of our best attended with Chelsea before cup semi final and Bournemouth big survival game, hardly any empty seats unlike other home games we'd had earlier in year .
  19. Doesn't look like this offer has had any impact, still loads of tickets left , will be lots of empty seats for the sky cameras at this rate.
  20. Butland should not be in the side on current form, McCarthy not getting on tonight I doubt he'll ever get a game now. Gunn was on bench for both u21 games as well, bit of a waste of time for both of them. Remember the glory days of Forster, Bertrand, Ward-Prowse and Redmond in the full England squad, seems a long time ago now.
  21. Fair play for trying to use some initiative but I've often thought our ticket office is run by complete amateurs and this is a textbook case, the discount code not even working And the Burnley game was ridiculous giving away block 43 to oriental students doing language courses at the uni over the summer, I think saints must be under pressure from sky not to have thousands of empty seats to keep it looking like a premium product, should have just reduced season ticket prices , particularly behind the goals. At least for the Brighton game they've sold out the away end which will boost the numbers and atmosphere.
  22. I was going to say the same thing, don't think about it as an international break but as a break from the premier league circus and a chance to engage with your local non league club, conference or below you'll find some good games especially on FA Cup weekend
  23. We've got to get through the group stage still, and I don't think they have u21 teams playing at home, we'd lose at Fratton to their first team against our youngsters, think I'd rather avoid them. Well done to the lads tonight, good result.
  24. Plus after the international break we don't play until the Monday night so 16 days to sort out fitness, also hopefully allows time if any of our players are flying long distances
  25. I agree, I was really hoping for Burton or Macclesfield away , or at least somewhere convenient like Brentford or QPR away , this is just a rubbish draw.
