  1. Wolves were pretty much the toughest game we could have got from the unseeded pot of the draw, they've spent a lot of money and have started the season well but will definitely be prioritising promotion. Ticket sales are poor so far, saints have opened the whole ground so plenty of good half way line seats available, hopefully after yesterday's win a few more will go, Wolves have sold nearly 1500 so far so there should be a bit of atmosphere with a decent away following.
  2. So close to a GIANT killing but instead a tragic loss on penalties, the 1520 fans will talk about this for years, the night they took Fulham u21s all the way in a thrilling cup tie.
  3. Absolute mess of a draw, SKY should be embarrassed by that. Taking friendlies into account this will be our 5th home game in a row (all within a 20 day period) so make it £10 adults £1 kids and try to get a decent crowd in during the holidays. we'll find out in Pellegrino likes rotation as much as Puel. Blackburn v Burnley the tie of the round.
  4. https://www.efl.com/news/2017/august/carabao-cup-clubs-to-learn-round-two-fate/ Only regionalised because bloody West Ham and Newport can't fulfill a home fixture ffs. They should just forfeit the tie in that case. I wanted Accrington Stanley
  5. Are you sure the draw is regionalised? I know it's seeded but didn't think there was any regional classification.
  6. I'm told we give just over 3300. Almost certainly the biggest in the league I think. Swansea and West Ham have sold out plus Watford have also taken the full allocation so we'll see some big followings at St Marys, playing 3pm Saturday helps plus the £20 tickets. Shame we're not offered that price by other clubs, plus our ticket office prefers to take the smaller allocation. https://www.watfordfc.com/matches/tickets/away-tickets-southampton-prices-sales-info
  7. https://www.swanseacity.com/news/jack-armys-out-force-southampton That is top support from Swansea (although I didn't think they away end holds 3400 unless they've got rid of the segregation netting) Will make it a good atmosphere with the home end being sold out as well.
  8. Away teams are getting the £20 deal at St Mary's again this season , the Swansea Jack membership is a different initiative but their fans all get the £20 price regardless if they are signed up for that. West Ham £20 as will all other teams. Seems to make a difference when you look at big followings coming to us in August whereas we'll have 1500 at Huddersfield. Don't understand why we didn't take 2300 like Newcastle have. It's a shame virgin do that for teams visiting us but we don't get it reciprocated, plus our ticket office tendency to take smallest allocation possible.
  9. Whilst I agree that our away support up north can be poor I think the ticket office should have taken 2300 instead of 1500 for this. I noticed a trend last year where we seemed to take smaller and smaller allocations such as 900 at Liverpool ffs and 1500 at Chelsea when it was £20 a ticket. compare that to the first two home games this season where Swansea and West Ham have both taken the full 3200 allocation at St Marys.
  10. According to the article 1,530. This seems to small to me, whatever happened to 10% of the allocation? As usual when given the option we've probably taken the smaller allocation which is very poor with it being our first away on a bank holiday weekend, will be a popular trip I think.
  11. I agree, plus their tax payer funded city regeneration and attempt to to move some of the cruise trade up there. I really dislike the city, people, both football clubs and the sale of Lambert, Lallana, Lovren, Clyne, Mane just makes it easier to dislike them even more.
  12. Big turnout for Brentford away on Saturday, we've sold out just over 1500 tickets, must admit that surprised me, it was pay on the day last time we played them in a friendly. Should imagine it won't be a problem getting in the home end on the day for anyone else still looking to go.
  13. It sounds like some maintenance work is being done at the ground this summer, according to ticket news for their showpiece preseason game against Premier league opposition (Bournemouth) currently just the Fratton end open for home fans. Milton End for away. North and South stands closed for work being done. Does this mean they'll have the whole stadium open again this season? https://www.portsmouthfc.co.uk/matches/fixtures/first-team/201718/july/pompey-v-bournemouth-on-22-jul-17/#tickets
  14. I've written to Puel to thank him for his help in cleansing our fanbase of some spectators who only turn up at matches to be "entertained " rather than to support the team. Good work Claude, hopefully these cretins enjoy their Saturday afternoons sat at home whilst we're at the match.
  15. In Austria or at their ground in Switzerland?
  16. So are Barcelona and Juventus according to the Sun.
  17. I agree with those points other than the game selling out quickly, it's still just a pre season friendly which won't interest many. The away end holds 1600 (lower tier terrace holds 1000) so I'm sure it won't be a problem paying on the day. I've always enjoyed a trip to Brentford , they'll give us a good game. The train line between Clapham and Brentford stops at plenty of good drinking areas especially in the summer down by the river.
  18. It would be when you put that value in relation to the amount the club would cost to buy. Perhaps the club are relaxed about a late bid coming in, with the the knowledge that we survived without him for the 2nd half of last season.
  19. Shame it takes so long for Saints to announce these, you'd have thought they would know opponents by now. Home game first weekend of August will be followed by home premier league games back to back on 12th and 19th so plenty of visits to St Marys. No news either on any u23 friendlies, was hoping they'd play a couple of local games, but looking at the fixtures in The Pink local non-league sides are already busy with Eastleigh hosting Wimbledon and Sheffield United and Salisbury home to league one giants Oldham Athletic.
  20. He was. Delivery from free kicks showed he can bend it like Beckham, if he starts the season well for Saints he'll be called up for the full England squad again, Southgate is a big fan of his. Hope Redmond is fit in time for Tuesdays semi final
  21. Case 1 - London riots summer of 2011
  22. I don't think he is saying that? he is saying if over a period of time you lose your best players but expect the new manager to do as well (with inferior resources) then the job of the manager is made increasingly difficult, especially when we get to a cup final, finish 8th and that still isn't deemed good enough?
  23. Interesting it was Finsbury Park mosque, i used to live near there, was well known hotbed of extremism in the 90s, Abu Hamza and his hook hand would hold lectures condeming the west on a regular basis , not sure if it's changed much since then. Not saying that's why it was targeted, most likely just a coincidence.

    Fraser Forster

Looks like he's well down the pecking order for England now with Hart, Butland and Heaton being selected ahead of him plus Southgate clearly intends to bring the excellent Pickford into the frame soon. Good options for this position for England - mad to think Alex Mccarthy was in the squad back in September!
  25. I'm enjoying reading all the anti saints comments by Liverpool fans on social media stories this morning, it's really wound them up. Long may that continue.
