  1. you can guarantee that if he plays against us for Liverpool he will be man of the match. strange move, but makes sense as he wasn't getting a game for us, and we have Fonte / Van Dijk and Yoshida with Stephens as back up plus Gardos on his way back, the wages could be better spent elsewhere.
  2. Despite members getting £10 off this match it doesn't appear to have resulted in a big take up, loads of seats left for this , most of the Itchen North will be empty at this rate. Watford have "sold out" the 2500 allocation, i don't know why we don't just give them block 43 as well rather than just leaving it empty. Good following from them midweek. My prediction - 1v1 draw , frustrating game as we miss a number of good chances.
  3. Oh I wish we spent loads more money waah waah waah. Do you think the state of the art complex at Staplewood came for free? You do realise the club were lumbered with two highest earners in Osvaldo and Ramirez who were duff signings? Never mind that, let's send our bank balance the same colour as our shirts!
  4. I'm not sure about Guan's post, creates an image of Harry Reeds mum and Dad (Les Reed?!) And Matt Targetts folks turning up at parents evening with Big Ron bemoaning the lack of progress their young ones are making at this Premier League football club! If only they'd joined all those other great academies eh. We've only just spent millions improving the facilities at Staplewood but I'm sure they'd been promised X number of appearances and a transfer to a champions league club by now
  5. Just give up you f'cking waste of space, it's tedious beyond belief how you've not been banned from this forum I'll never know. It's such a sad waste of your time, surely you have something better to do?
  6. Stop being a dimwit. My point was their 'crime' was motivated by football and not some deep hatred of the Jewish religion, yet it was reported as if they had targeted Jewish people as a hate crime, if they'd sang other offensive songs they'd have just had a warning as opposed to arrest
  7. It’s all part of football. Spurs fans have been known to sing about Hillsborough to wind up Liverpool Liverpool have been known to sing about the Munich Air Disaster to wind up Man Utd Man Utd have been known to sing about the Leeds fans who were killed in Istanbul. I doubt many of the fans sing these things for any other reason but to wind up / provoke a reaction from other fans. In this case unfortunately they are able to give this a political / racist twist as it implies the fans have a hatred of jews, rather than of Spurs which is clearly their real motivation.
  8. To be fair in the back 4 we have two capped by England u21s if you include Jack Stephens who is back now, that shows some promise, plus Gazzaniga seems to be progressing in goal. They deserve a mention alongside Targett, Read and Seager. I remember watching Josh Sims in u18s couple of years ago who looked good and Slattery gets mentioned as "one for the future"
  9. It is being reported in some papers today that exam schedules in England have been amended due to ramadan to allow students who will be fasting a more convenient time to sit the papers, what is happening to this country:mcinnes: a mate of mine at uni just didn't fast during his exams and just got on with it. We should not be adjusting things like this because some people don't eat because an imaginary man in the sky doesn't want them to.
  10. The Northam , Itchen and Kingsland stands are pretty much sold out , still a few thousand left in the Chapel end and corners , but will be a decent crowd. I understand the apathy of some fans following the disappointment in cups already this season with Europa league and League cup exits in disappointing fashion, the Liverpool defeat especially fresh in the memory. Still a good chance for fans to take kids along and this season has been good for fans who can't afford the expensive Premier League tickets with very cheap deals for Vitesse / Midgetland / Villa / Liverpool and Palace cup games.
  11. I like the look of Stephens, he played well tonight and you could tell he had that bit more experience, i saw him play for Swindon last season and he was one of their best players, hopefully he is ready to push on and can start featuring for us, especially as he is now capped at England u21 level. Reed puts in a good shift, he does leave his foot in a bit but i like his approach to the game, Seager as well has been doing the business for a while. I think they mentioned we have Huddersfield in the last 16 of the cup, good chance to get through in our attempt to retain the trophy. Forster looked good - couple more weeks and he'll be ready for the first team i reckon.
  12. Depends what your definition of well attended is, but i think we'll have close to 30,000 there, the whole of the Northam is sold out, most of the Kingsland and Itchen are sold out so that just leaves the Chapel and corners with a few days to go plus some walk up on the day. Bolton have sold out 1100 at Eastleigh for Saturday which will help boost their attendance and no doubt non-league team in the 3rd round helps create the "magic of the cup", but i doubt this fixture will impact our attendance at St Marys much. It is £12 for Saints compared to £15 at Eastleigh.
  13. Would that wasted half a season include an appearance for England U21s? I'm sure getting recognition like that must go some way to the "development / experience for the lad"
  14. I was very impressed with Clasie especially in the first 30 mins on Saturday, it's a good improvement and for me he definitely keeps his place in the side. He showed a hunger and desire in midfield that is missing in some of the other players. Victor Mercenary Wanyama has been my most disliked Saints player with his attempts to force a move plus I've never really rated him as a footballer. His main attributes are getting in the way of other teams attacks bit this season has seemed disinterested while picking up his vast salary which he seems to spend on badly fitting baseball caps. I also regretfully cannot see James Ward-Prowse making a big enough impact on games, he's good at keeping possession but that's it really, the opportunity he had to score near the end of the game was classic Ward-Prowse unable to get any power on the shot. I'd start with Clasie, Romeu and Davis in midfield next game.
  15. Good man. I hope you stuck a few quid on Spurs -1 handicap as suggested, would have more than covered the cost of your match ticket.
  16. I think the Saints foundation having read this week about their awards and the excellent work done in the local community. If not them then the samaritans as I think several people from this forum could do with giving them a call. Disappointing result - agreed. Confidence crisis needs some luck to turn us around, perhaps a lucky pen or own goal on boxing day will help. Of course this season is disappointing at the moment, makes me sick losing to Spurs but the sense of entitlement among some of our fans is ridiculous. Not going to read through rest of this doom mongering but if anyone on here has the pleasure of meeting Dalek please do us all a favour sign him up for a carer, he must be a very lonely, sad individual in need of friends / help.
  17. let's hope for a replay, would much prefer a 5.30 Saturday game! we have Arsenal away midweek the week before as well currently on the Tuesday but will move the the Wednesday if either of us have a FA Cup 4th round game moved to the Sunday, its a nightmare managing the diary of a football fan in the modern era
  18. Tickets for the away section will go on sale in early / mid-january. There is a chance this game could be moved from the Tuesday to the Wednesday night if either team play on the Sunday before (FA Cup weekend so we won't know for a while) Arsenal have kindly made this game the lowest category so it will only be £26 for away fans

    Saints Groupon

It doesn't seem that cheap compared to normal so think they are just targetting a different market, which they need to do as corporate sales will be very low just after Christmas, we have three unattractive home games in a week so lots of space to fill. Man Utd did 2 for 1 on hospitality for our game at Old Trafford on Groupon last year. While on the subject I noticed members can get £10 off Watford tickets but that doesn't seem to have had much impact on sales as not many have been purchased. I notice some other teams are quite creative with offers, Villa did an 'early bird' 2 tickets for £40 behind the goal for their home game v Man City (televised on a Sunday) would be good to see Saints try a few deals like that for less popular games
  20. Good post , I would have said no to him before but think his style of play is something we need as an alternative. None of our midfielders can carry the ball currently. Would hopefully get him on loan 2nd half of the season.
  21. Deal. It's a shame you are lowering your expectations to such a level and entering the ground on Saturday already anticipating a drubbing. We've got it in us to beat Spurs despite being on a bad run, i recall the number of fans who were throwing the towel in this time last season after a run of 5-6 defeats and we went and beat Everton 3-0, have a bit of faith and get behind the team, you might even enjoy yourself a bit, give it a try. At least whatever happens now a good cause will receive a tenner, so it's not all bad eh
  22. spot on MLG, i very much agree with this post. I think a number of posters are very unhappy with life in general but use football / this forum as an outlet to express their negativity and dissatisfaction.
  23. I really don't know why i bother to login here for a quick look at Saints info and general opinions, some very sad , depressing characters posting on here wallowing in self-pity focusing on all of the negatives and none of the positives.... Spurs have not looked good in either of their last couple of league games at WBA or home to Newcastle, but don't let that stop you slagging Saints off.... some like Dalek just do it because his life is so devoid of any normal social interaction he ACTUALLY seems to get enjoyment from posting the same crap day after day , his usual "hope we get knocked out of the cup" posts are always an enjoyable read. Hopefully he'll be banned from here or suffer an injury removing his ability to type soon. Pancake - "waah spurs are going to win by a cricket score", what a depressing t0sser you sound like , again hope you are putting your money where your mouth is and getting on Spurs to win on a -2 handicap, the odds are good if you are so sure. Personally i think this will be a very close game, 2-2 draw.
  24. Keep the faith we still have time to come back in this.
  25. Yeah I agree with this, loads of away regulars I know don't live in Southampton so far better to do reduced tickets rather than travel, especially as there seems to be so much competition with three different coach operates running to away games keeping prices down anyway. Not surprised to see West Ham sell out quickly, will be a good atmosphere having 3000 up there for a 5.30 game, Norwich seems to be selling well with blocks F and G sold out, about half of final block H remaining I'm sure we'll sell those over next couple of weeks and as they are on general sale now gives non-season ticket holders a chance to take advantage of the half price tickets.
