More bad news. So it will be Smith right wing for the rest of season then :-( Why did we offer Dyer a new contract if he is not wanted or can't afford to pay him?
-
Davis James, Perry, Schneiderlin, Gillett, Gobern, Molyneuex, Mills, Surman, Skacel, Holmes, McGoldrick 1-9-1 damage limitation.
-
Can Scheiderlin play right back, Centre half then? We are left with Perry and Lancashire as centre halves which is not good as perry can't play every game and Lancashire is not ready yet.

Harry " i don't like to talk about other clubs players" Redkrap. Harry " i never criticise refs but he was scary" Redkrap. Harry " i never make excuses but we're down to the bare bones" Redkrap. God that rent a quote **** gets on my nerves.

Whoosh!!!!!!!!!!!

They had a match winner in Brian Howard at the time though.
-
Don't remember them being 2nd bottom at the time?

Manure will select a team something like the Carling Cup games this season. Foster Rafael, Evans, Ferdinand, O'Shea Scholes, Possebon Park, Ronaldo Giggs Tevez subs Kuzscak Neville Anderson Nani Fletcher
-
Both of those teams had a mixture of promising youngsters and experienced players. They also had strikers who can score goals such as Patterson, Eagles, Howard etc

Smith is very poor from what i've seen of him. The fact he was a Millwall reserve is a clue to his standard of play. It seems the club do not think we need some experienced players to get out of trouble like most teams do. Maybe they feel picking 8 or 9 youngsters/reserves is the right way to go to get results? after all there are loads of teams throughout the history of football who have done this and been successful NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-( Hopefully as it's only the 1st day of the window we will see some more experienced players arrive after the predicted sales of players.

Cheer up. Nobody has died. Happy new year.

What evidence have you seen of jans management skills?

Just read his piece on OS "Jan likes competition for places" and am a bit worried that he rates Smith and thought he was playing well on sunday? and that the substitution did not reflect the way he was playing. Personally i think Smith has been poor every time i've seen him play. -
Kevin Phillips Actually i was trying to think of a signing who was a first team player at their previous club and at a similar level who has signed for Saints recently?
-
Henri Camara could be available as he was quoted on SSN saying he wanted to go on loan to get first team football. Wages would be a problem though. If the coaching staff knew anything about this league then maybe a centre forward from league one or someone from premier league not getting a game right now such as Sears at West Ham, Sinclair at Chelsea, Healy at Sunderland?

You actually said "anyone would do better" You were wrong.

Saints V Reading Full Time Match Reation
AndyNorthernSaints replied to Um Bongo's topic in The Saints
Just got back. I thought it was an encouraging performance by a very young and inexperienced side. Although i thought we'd get thrashed when i saw the line up there were quite a few positives to come from the game. Gillett plays well as holding midfielder although his passing was suspect at times, James seems to be getting better and so does McGoldrick, McLaggon looked good on debut with a great run and set up for goal. Minus points were Smith was terrible and waste of space and Patterson seemed to tire very early on and it seemed Reading were not really up for it until we scored. Was in block 4 Itchen and thought the atmosphere was good. Hopefully with Saga and Dyer returning they can replace Patterson and Smith. -
As good as Carlton Palmer but without the silky skills.
-
Spot on there. Most people in the game and fans knew this about Wotton. Unfortunately Lowe and Jan do not know much about this league. He was meant to be a replacement for Safri if i remember right? personally i would have kept Jermaine Wright a much more versatile player who can play right back or holding midfielder.

Saints 2 Reading 1

I'm going and will be in the Itchen with my christmas chocolate coins to throw at Woopert.

I heard Channon, Steele and others were seen in the Cowherds pub after training.
-
I would like to see someone like him at Saints. He seems very knowlegible about the game and has not been given enough time at Leeds. Also the last ex Leeds player and ex Coventry manager did pretty well here.
