He made a statement explaining his decision. He obviously sorted out the appointment while Nigel was still in the job. He's not the first chairman to do this and won't be the last. At least we didn't have a Dodd/Gorman caretaker scenario. He didn't attend the press conference because it was about the new manager, not a sideshow.
To be fair, he's been pretty honest. Whether you agree with him is another matter, but he has been pretty up front. He didn't rate Nigel, so he's got someone in who he thinks will do better.
Matt is more than entitled to his opinion. He spoke very well on Sky yesterday. I think we all know where he stands on the subject.
