Do we think Harry will be manager by Xmas
Wade Garrett replied to Miltonroader07's topic in The Saints
I can't see him and Cortese working together. Harry isn't the only out of work manager out there. -
They gave Newcastle a good game, and Pardew was very complimentary about them. Villa, just like every other game this season will be a tough game.

I must admit, I'm a bit disappointed with Adkins this season. Dropping Ricky v City, changing formations v Wigan (which he concedes was a mistake), those 3 substitutions v Utd, and the team playing too deep on Saturday. Add to that the set-piece defending (zonal which isn't working), and the shape of the team defensively (full backs too tight with the centre backs). If he keeps making mistakes it will cost us more points. If he learns from them we could be OK. We have played some lovely football at times this season, against top class opposition, and he must take credit for that. I think Cortese is sharpening his knife. Nigel seems to me like a man who knows what's coming (my impression of his BBC interview after Arsenal).

What an absolute load of crap. I haven't read one post on here about not supporting the team or manager where it counts, in the ground.

Sorry, is this ok :lol:?:rolleyes::scared:

Norm, get the little bugger to crack open his piggy bank so he can give you a pound in copper.

Big Sam is playing games. He hardly wants the best for us does he!

As a Woolston resident, and somebody who is just too bone idle to buy tokens, the smartcard idea that can be topped up online, is great. Should save me quite a bit of money.

I agree. For every Ferguson, where patience was rewarded, there are significantly more where patience wasn't.

To be honest I'm worried now: we have zero points (although I accept the fixtures have been tough). Defensively we aren't at the races. We don't seem organised, players continually out of position, and set play defending a disgrace. For this the coaching staff are as culpable as the players. Some of our tactics, team selections and substitutions have been baffling. We seem to fade physically at the end of games. I'm not sure the manager has the full respect of the players (this is pure speculation on my part, just the impression I get). We have a keeper who looks out of his depth, and our only option to replace him is a 22 year old who was at Gillingham last year. I know it's not too late to turn things round, and we really need to show our support. But at the same time, I am worried.

What did Norwich and Swansea do that we aren't?
Wade Garrett replied to PaulSaint's topic in The Saints
We should go with the QPR method of spunking untold millions on 25 players. Great transfer policy to get a keeper in the Summer and then buy another one after a few games to replace him. People in glass houses....... -
Their keeper is playing out of his skin at the moment.

Get your missus to sit on it. My missus swears by it, can't get her off the f*cking thing.

And he didn't have a cock and balls.

Action Man?

That is some imagination ART. Ever thought of a career as a writer?

Leicester's first-choice keeper at the time was a certain Gordon Banks as well. Wasn't too long after that they sold him to Stoke.
-
Very well put. Agree 100%.

I don't really think we've got that much to lose by putting him in now. It's not like he's replacing Peter Shilton.
-
Gazza Clyne, Fonte, Yoshida, Fox Cork, Morgan Mayuka, Ramirez, Lallana Lambert With the imbalance in the squad, we don't have much choice than go attacking. I'd have Morgan and Cork sitting in front of the back 4 to give them some protection.

It's toxic once a manager starts to lose the dressing room, and only ever has one outcome. Not that I'm saying this is necessarily the case with us at the moment.

I'm afraid the Premier League is cut-throat. There is no loyalty these days and that is on both sides. it's modern football culture.
-
I thought that when we got promoted, we should have employed an assistant for Adkins with tons of Premier League experience. A Jim Smith type figure who could advise Adkins on all the pitfalls of top flight football. A defensive coach would also have been good (they have been organised very poorly in my opinion. Rubbish on set-pieces with zonal marking, both full-backs getting sucked too close to the centre backs in open play, leaving massive gaps to exploit). Sadly, any such appointment now will only undermine the manager. The only options are to back him 100% (privately, not the dreaded vote of confidence), or replace him.

Or alternatively, a new coach could get more out of the team and better organise the defence.
