Would you be happy with 2 players then?
-
It does seem so FF. Alternatively, it could be that teams like Bologna and whoever else, are just taking a risk that interest from other clubs might push their prices up. It has been far from the busiest window up until now. I hope we don't have to do all our business in a panicky last day. Who remembers Higginbottom and Prutton...
-
I take it you didn't watch us at The Dell then. Hopefully we'll all be feeling a lot more confident at the end of the transfer window.
-
Burridge joined us at the end of his career, same with Woods (who was very good at Norwich in his prime).
-
Some good points in your post Manji. I remember years ago, I think under Chris Nicholl, when we went on a very long run without winning but stayed up. I would definitely settle for top 17 this season.
-
a. Will be disappointed if we don't get at least 3 in. I don't think Cortese will let us down.

Quality post Ron.

Tim Howard looked at fault for the Villa goal, until you saw how much the ball moved. That wouldn't have happened with the old Mitre Multiplex. I don't believe the continental keeping methods that have crept into our game are better than the methods used by our keepers up to the mid90's. I remember a time when nearly all the keepers in the top division were English and top quality. Shilton, Clemence, Corrigan, Parkes, Cooper, Rimmer, Spink, Woods, Wallington, Coton, Burridge are a few names around at a time when we had the best keepers in the world.

Just watched us on Match of the Day. If we don't improve at the back we've got no chance. I was annoying myself today, criticising, and had to remind myself where we have come from. If we're bottom after 4 games there'll be no wrist slitting from me. Villa look garbage at the moment, so I'll be looking for a result there.

I think you make some good points. I think our season hinges on our transfer dealings next week.

I liked the bloke in the back row there, just behind me, who was shouting and moaning all game. He was talking complete crap and his language would have made a docker blush. No problem really, until I looked round and saw that he had his young nipper (couldn't have been older than 5) with him. Classy.

If we let this run until deadline day, we may well miss out on alternative targets if it goes tits up. I think it's important, especially after today, to get reinforcements in quickly and bed them in so they can play next Sunday.

HCDAJFU- But we just cant seem to sign him?
Wade Garrett replied to SOTONS EAST SIDE's topic in The Saints
Not sure if this is a fair question to be asked yet. Better to wait until the window has closed. -
This is me, after a long time, jumping on the Guly bandwagon. He was absolute rubbish. Gave the ball away too much, chickened out of a couple of challenges, and didn't put in a proper shift. I am shocked that he didn't get subbed. I am also puzzled with Rodriguez. He is not a left midfielder. We spent £7m on a striker, we should use him there. To be honest we don't look that comfortable with our new formation, but hopefully that will improve. I thought Wigan were the better side, but on another day we could have got a point. Their keeper was excellent.

Very complicated. No wonder it's taking so long to complete. Still at least we haven't got the lad's old man trying to sting us for £600,000.
-
I think that was Chalet's point.
-
Did Holloway get a percentage of that?
-
If the tweet posted on here is to be believed, Penarol's 1.5m is nowhere near their reported 30% share of the player.
-
Very good player, but for that money I wouldn't touch him with a bargepole. They'll be lucky to get £1million for him in 3 years time.
-
I think you have to trust the club's judgement on this one. They haven't let us down yet - Jos, Clyne, Cork, Davis, Lee, Rodriguez, Sharp - all decent players. Not too sure about De Ridder though, but he did score an important goal for us at Reading last season.
-
If being good you mean rolling over and having your tummy tickled, then no he's not. I still think, on balance, that he'll pull this one off.
-
Oyston would sell his grandmothers gold teeth for the right price. They'll sell Phillips alright.
-
Poker time. How about we tell them the offer's there until lunchtime today, and then we'll pursue other targets instead. Reports state we're the only bidders in town (for the price they want), they obviously want to sell him for big money, so I would say that Cortese has a slightly stronger hand than his Italian counterpart. He could say it's because the Ramirez thread on Saintsweb is getting too big, and that Saintsweb posters are being sacked because they're following it instead of getting on with what they're paid to do.

Top man, cheers for the info.

Chill out everyone. Get on with your lives and let the good news roll.
