  1. Style of football is still a concern though isn't it?
  2. No doubt if we had FDB & Bergkamp working at Saints I expect Arsenal wil just see it as us roadtesting their next management team for them. Actually we should ask Arsenal to subsidise their wages for a couple of years. Not sure Benali would be delighted to see Bergkamp at the club though. Think they had numerous run ins over the years.
  3. Bit of a centre parting there. If thats one of the qualities we're looking for then Roger Schmidt could get a look in. Some photos have the makings of a psycopathic Bond villain.
  4. I expect Adam is just tweeting the club line for them. Good point, would like to know the split of those pleased by the departure and not. But we never will.
  5. In most photos I've seen of FDB he looks a miserable bastard looking out from under a furrowed brow. If thats from the stress of managing Ajax winning four titles I'm not sure he'd cope with us.
  6. Agree that perhaps some our board should adopt a more robust approach in telling certain clubs to f^ck off but don't accept critiscism of our owner who has been behind 6/7 years of continual growth. I'd rather have that approach than some Arab c^nt just trying to 'buy it' by throwing silly money at it. I think Pompey tried that approach. And Leeds. Anyway, haven't you got a vigil to attend, go light some candles for something ?
  7. not an easy mistake to make !
  8. Admiral
  9. What marks FDB out though as such a good prospect for us, and what is his style of play ? Strange to me that he has twice now (at least) openly touted himself for a job in England (spurs & Everton), and on both times he's been overlooked, by raiding our manager as well as it happens. Read elsewhere that Emery doesn't speak English. Wonder what Poch's old translator is up to now.
  10. Tuchel's a strange one to fathom really. After a good start to his career I believe he's now back at Rochdale. Or have I been reviewing too many managers names over the last 48 hours?
  11. I'd be surprised if Erwin didn't follow RK out, but what chances of him staying and taking over ? That would cetainly be a surprising sting in the tail to all this.
  12. Paul Tisdale Tommy widdrington Metsu or whatever his name was. Yakin. Eduardo Berrazi (who I'd never heard of until yesterday)
  13. And the BBC.
  14. Classie & Pelle aside you may be right, although I'd be a bit concerned if VVD (6yr contract or not) sees workinhgunder a Dutch legend as beneficial to his development. FF - might depend if Dave WAtson also goes to Everton. Of the others, they may be more inclined to rejoin RK once they know the ££ on offfer from their mega budget.
  15. You're assuming they intend turning up for training for the first day under EH/AVB/FDB/AOF* rather than bail out beforehand of course. *any other f^cker.
  16. But did RK introduce Mane, or was he through our acclaimed black box ? Hop you're right about selling to former managers, but most deals tend to be conducted by agents, and clubs told about them. Haven't there been cases of players refusing to go to Club A, after clubs agree fees, because they want to to B to join a former manager (even though B have not met the asdking price) and trying to force their move?
  17. Typical of our board etc... 'too late for their own funerals'... 'lack of ambition' etc etc (intended sarcastically) No liklihood of him coming to us in the first place.
  18. Thinking about this yesterday, and really the current turmoil is nothing new for Saints in the close season. Obviously 2014 is immediately in everyone's minds as a comparison, but thinking back we've had similar instances of panic in June & July since I can remember. What has changed though is the internet which provides a place for coming together of supporters, and where the panic and rumour can build up momentum whereas at one time we relied on the Evening Echo to give us our updates, and you could only mull over this with family, and friends at school, work or pub. In the time I've followed Saints (late 1960's) we've faced numerous summer dramas: 1973 - Ron Davies leaves Saints (end of an era), no one particularly bothered in those days he was going to Pompey to 'retire' , in fact it seemed a bit quaint. Lawrie Mac joins as Team Manager Designate (what would we make of that ?) 1974 Relegation , end of the world is nigh, should we retain LM ? Terry Paine given a free (bigger end of an era)? 1975 - failed to get promotion , would Mike Channon stay?, should we retain LM ? Signing of Peter Rodrigues , 32, on a free transfer ? Lack of ambition etc 1976 - FA Cup euphoria - what was there to moan about ? Lack of signings perhaps, no one then suggested unrealistic targets or expected the board to spend excessive amounts ( this would have been £300,000 on a single player). 1977 - Mike Channon leaves (another end of the world is nigh moment) 1979 - was this the year of the Lawrie to Leeds summer ? 1980 - Keegan euphoria 1981- - Lawrie to Man Utd rumours ? 1982 - rumblings of discontent and KK likely to leave rumours 1985 - Lawrie quits , who to take over ? I seem to recall a lot of uninspiring names touted - Ray Harford for one - before Nicholl was appointed 1986 -89 - can't recall any but must have been some 1990 - World Cup year, already rumblings of sacking Chris Nicholl (probably had been for a couple of seasons) 1991 - Nicholl sacked, replacement ? Redknapp (believe it or not) was largely the fans choice, then Branfoot selected. 1992 - Shearer going, Dixon & Speedie signing, being rooked by spurs & Venables over Ruddock at a tribunal. 1995 - Alan Ball leaves 1996 - Dave Merrington relieved of duties 1997 - Souness & LM quit, His Rupertship arrives, Berkovic slips through the net (we didn't even know he hadn't permanently signed) bigger Balls up than the Toby fiasco 1999 - Great escape, but Dave Jones news breaks shortly after the season ends I can't be bothered with 2000 onwards as by this stage we were getting the internet to pour out the anger. The items in bold would probably be on a par with the current situation for the level of hysteria that might have unleashed had we had the internet at our disposal. Surprising looking abck how often we've had the managerial upheavel, which is remarkable for a club once known for "not sacking managers". Question then, which of the above or other turmoils would have caused the biggest meltdown of all ?
  19. Perhaps Reading i the morning then a quick detour down the M3 to meet Les at a service station nr Basingstoke... Can't see us going for someone with such limited experience though.
  20. Perhaps this thread should be a competition to come up with the most obscure candidates out there. Go on tell us, how succesful is he, why should we consider him ?
  21. AVB is pretty uninspiring from what is known of him. His spells at both Chelsea and Spurs has been characterised by some drab football, and alienating the dressing room.
  22. D)put him on gardening leave for twelve months as Mainz did when Tuchel left them. Yes, money down the drain, but probably one Juanmi, and less than an Osvaldo or Gaston for RK, Erwin and their fitness coach. At least it would stop those scouse c^nts from appointing him.
  23. Why wouldn't RK see that and not wish to remain part of it then? Apart from the possibility of doubling his salary.
  24. Getting used to them to be honest.
  25. Adkins, and we sacked him. Although in truth he didn't ever last long enough to receive a testing approach from a rival. Howe would be the obvious contender, but then we don't go for the obvious candidate.
