He's certainly up there, but best passer I've seen was Alan Ball. No matter how good a player he was, Berkovic was an arsehole though.

Kite was signed from Bristol Rovers. Going back to when I first started following Saints we had a highly rated home grown GK, Gerry Gurr. England U23 international as I recall. Injury buggered up his career though. No home grownGK's of note since then though, Steve Middleton c1975, the last one I recall havibg a run in the team.

That would be the youth set up that he - 'Arry - was keen not to utiilise and aid the development of younger players* for a time (think Cranie, Mills and how they saw no future at the club when HR was in charge after relegation). Are there no limits to 'Arry's hypocrisy, and self trumpeting ? *although I think he has subsequently been happy to talk about his time and part in Walcott and Bales early years.

Reminds me of the Harry Enfield character, Mr Dead.

Don't disagree with any of the critiscisms of Woy on here, but the FA have a simple problem to contend with. There is no one better who wants the job. If you look at English managers, then we have Bruce and Pardew. Would anyone see them as international managers ? Fat Sam ? Mclaren again ? Hoddle again ? It's not good reading. Overseas managers ? Perhaps Southgate is being 'fast tracked' by the FA for the post. Two seasons experience at U21 level might do it for them. Probably as safe a pair of hands as other "destined to manage England one day" sort of candidates - Bryan Robson, Pearce, and Platt. Seems our managers do as wll as fulfiling their coaching potential as the national team.

Saints considering Micah Richards if they lose Clyne in the summer
Badger replied to Saint IQ's topic in The Saints
A wing back to suit RK's 3 at the back option perhaps ? Seems to me the option is a player whose best strengths are going forward (Byram, Trippier for example), or a more solid defender who offers less going forward ( names escape me, sure someone will suggest one). A player who combines both, are few and far between, and why Clyne is sought after (hopefully seeing his value soar, even allowing for the contract situation). -

Trippier sounds a good option, if Burnley go down (although it appears Sunderland are doing their best to save them from that fate). I expect we might go back in for Byram though. -
We don't really have another relistic option than to stick with KD. As for Boruc, that bridge I'd imagine is well and truly burnt. Agree about Toby.
-
Had he been on the pitch at the time perhaps he would . Bit surprised that Tadic had the nod today, despite the Burnley outcome. Agree we need someone who can blast them regularly rather than trickle them down the middle which does not insire confidence at all.

Possibly just the catalogue setting out the options, rather than being the ones selected ? Just a thought.

Good comparisons. But disagree about Pompey. They would not be a house, more the disused and falling apart outdoor toilet at the bottom of an overgrown and disused garden path. -
Green and blue just don't sit comfortably together in my view. As well as the Arsenal away from the mid 80's , there was this :

Either of these for me...

Not if his 'attitude' disrupts the squad he won't be. Not sure about this, he's a player I would have liked us to sign in L1, and although he's cetainly shown he can cut it in the PL playing for a poor side and still scoring goals, his '110%' often appears that he's playing for himself rather than a team player. But can't argue with his goalscoring record and that would be a good addition.

Won't begrudge Van Gaal beating the yids, and taking a point off Liverpool though.

Perhaps it could be marketed as 'The 'wipes' are back. or, red and wipe... A whole new marketing campaign could be born out of this.
