Do you think he would be considered by Arsenal or a club in the title/CL qualifying range then ? Whilst RK has been good for us, I suspect any club in the Aresenal/CL bracket will be looking for more success from a candidate and possiblty CL managerial experience.

Hope RK remains,even if an extension to the existing contract for an additional rolling year so that we don't go into a season with the continual speculation of he's only staying for a season. Although he might covet a top job, with "an elite club2 (as described in one article), it begs the question whether in truth he has done enough for one of the CL elite to take a risk on him. Barcelona is probably his dream job, but they seem to be doing very well thanks so unlikely to change, where else ? Would he go elsewhere in Spain, possibly jeoparding his 'Barcelona dream' ? In England most of the bigger clubs - Arsenal, Chelsea for example, will want a proven CL experience. Perhaps the biggest risk to us might be the Dutch FA deciding for a clear out and putting in a new man, if they're unconvinced by Danny Blind.

Get some perspective on this. Cruyff is the Netherlands outstanding iconic player, the match is a meaningless friendly. Normally I'd agree about stopping the game, or a minutes applause after a specific minute of the game for an individual, but in these circumstances think the Dutch have probably got this right, especially as the pre-match has been given to the Brussels tragedy. The only time I remember this is after the Bradford City fire when the Saints v Liverpool match on the following Tuesday was stopped after 11 minutes.

I remember watching the Dutch 1974 World Cup side (albeit only on TV) but they were the most skilfull side I recall watching in a World Cup playing 'total football' and Cruyff the absolute maestro at the helm. Brazil in 1970 won many admirers but the Dutch in 1974 seemed more entertaining to me. Cruyff always came across well when interviewed as a decent man as well. A great loss from the football world.

I think Antonio and Papa Waigo were here at the same time. My recollection of part of the issue over signing Antonio at the time was over Reading's increased valuation of him. Wasn't it suggested we had expected an 'otion to buy' at £250,000 at the end of the loan but having seen his progress with us and realising SAints had some money to spend, they hiked the asking price to £1m. NC would not allow them to take advantage of us, and at the time in L1 I think most people were supportive of that stance.

If as manager of Fluminese your 'Brendandino Rodriguez' had signed three of our key players in 2014 and appeared to be a 'knob' in the process then no, I don't think many would be clamouring for him. I think the resistance to Brendan is largely due to him seeming such an arrogant tw^| rather than his track record. Despite the Rodgers/Rodririguez comparison though, you do have a valid point that there seems to be an expectation of a continental/South American coach being able to bring a better brand of exciting football than one from nearer home. My overseas choice would have been Tuchel based on articles read, but there's little chance of giving up 80,000 crowds, and CL football at Dortmund for us. Howe would be the obvious and ideal candidate, but its probably too obvious, and we tend not to go for the 'obvious choice' and the black box will throw up someone barely considered. On top of which there's no guarentee we'd be seen as such an attraction by EH.
