I think the main difference at Saints in recent weeks is that we no longer have a "first XI" and some subs, we have a first team squad of about 18 (Nige calls them his group of players). They won't all get to play in every game, but they will all feature significantly in the campaign. Punch has a guaranteed place in that group, if he wants to take it. I hope he does.

If, after a "frank" discussion with Nigel, he decides to stay, I hope we get behind him. If he wasn't already ours, there's no doubt he would be on our HCDAJFU January wish list for the squad.

Sat next to a guy on an 8 hour flight last month. He was reading an "e-book" and I was listening to a talking book on my i-pod. I reclined the seat, sat back and relaxed. He was sat up, constantly twitching his finger on the screen and holding it up where he could see it. I know which one I'd rather have. I was considering an e-book thing before that, but not any more.

And, if you've got a real problem with people pinching your bandwidth, the Belkin devices I use (repeaters, not routers) allow MAC address filtering. NOBODY steals my bandwidth, it's too expensive down here.

My view of whether I want to see them stay up or go down depends on my view of whether we will go up or not. At the moment I'm on the "Plucky Pompey win relegation battle on last day of the season" side of the fence. We can send them down next season. No way can I see them going up. Their squad is too sparse and too fragile.

I've had a 50" LG Plasma for 4 years now. I still think it's excellent, and much better than my smaller LCD TVs. No viewing angle issues, and much brighter. Good quality sound too, without the SS kit on. My son loves it in 1080i HD for his X-box.

When I'm travelling around, sometimes the 3G signal strength is poor, but the phone will log on to it anyway. Try changing the network settings on the phone to 2G gprs only. This sometimes improves the signal strength for me, although you won't get high speed broadband (if you ever did anyway).
