  1. Think your find it is only one or two on here who give him grief. Pretty sure most of the fanbase appreciate what he did for the club and things he put in place for the future of the club i.e new facilities. I am personally looking forward to reading it as we have not heard from him since he left. I would much rather Cortese was still running things in regards to dealing with the transfers. We would not get messed about. What makes me laugh is people slag him off but seem to forget the guy who has replaced him is actually someone who has no experience in football, no experience with running a company etc. But no doubt these people will turn on him soon enough too.
  2. For sure, they finished 4th the following season. Quite the turn around.
  3. That Everton was not like the one of today. If I remember right they finished 4th bottom the year they sold him?
  4. 100% agree. It is one thing to have inherited a lot of money. It is something totally different to know how to run a company. Like I said I think we will find out pretty soon what our new objective is in regards to how the club is run. If we sell Shaw, Lallana and MoPo leaves then it is not the end of the world, but it sends the message that we will always be the middle team who sells our best players rather then progress to the level where we can keep them.
  5. Exactly, which to me suggests our current board are not tying things down at the speed they maybe should.
  6. Next few weeks will be crucial for this club and will show where we are aiming to be in the next few years. Can't help but think if Cortese was still at the helm this would not have been left to the last minute.
  7. Great for our club and those selected. Especially Lambo! However looking at the team I am not happy Wilshere, Jones and Lampard have been picked. Wilshere has been crippled for most of the season...again. And even when he played he was **** most of the time. 19 games this year with his last on 12th of February. The team should be picked on players playing well right now, not who they play for. We have done the Lampard and Gerrard thing for years and it has never worked. I would of taken Cork, Puncheon, Johnson or even Shelvey instead of him.
  8. Wettest winter on record?
  9. Finish 8th = around £12m prize money Payments for being in PL next season = around £50m So doubt we will be in "debt" for long. Especially if we continue to progress = mo money
  10. I don't get this whole happy clappers thing. Isn't the whole point of being a supporter to actually support? Sure there are a lot of what if's right now, ones that will make you angry if you dwell on them too long. But we don't know what is going on and it isn't the first time nor the last the papers/media have created rumours about us which actually are not true. I don't think it is "happy clappy" to not believe what is in the press or get wrapped up in the whole negative state some would like you to be in right now. Last summer everything was meant to fall apart, last January we were supposed to have sold our best players and youngsters. They are still here. I wouldn't worry so much!
  11. Can't see Mopo going to Man Utd. Finishing 8th isn't exactly a massive achievement, at least not criteria for taking over one of the biggest clubs in the world. And personally I would not want to see Moyes here as our manager. I don't think his style fits with ours. He had some good seasons with Everton but I don't think it is coincidence that the first season he is gone they are having their best PL season.
  12. I can't see them improving much next season tbh. Not being in the CL will hurt them in regards to which players they can buy. I doubt players like Kroos will want to go there if they are not in Europe. Football has it's cycles and I think Man Utd are about to have their time out of the top 4. Especially with Moyes in charge. Of course Shaw would go there as they are a mega club. But I think they will struggle to get back into the top 4 unless they have a mass clear out and bring in better players. They pretty much need a whole new defence and some creative midfielders. If they keep guys like Valencia, Young, Cleverly, Carrick etc then they will struggle for sure.
  13. He went for family reasons. He said it on twitter when he left.
  14. Not a fan of UKIP at all but less of a fan of Lib Dems. Just watching Kay on Sky asking that Lib Dem guy what he thought about losing 70% to 30% and he just kept saying we were successful and Clegg got his points across. Kay say's "But you lost?" and he replied "well we didn't"..... Which just shows how thick Lib Dems are and unwilling to accept they could actually be wrong...
  15. Very good results. Better then I feared tbh. Losing only £7m is a drop in the ocean compared to most of the PL teams. However what I find interesting is this bit "£37.9m of that has been converted into equity shares, bringing the club's net liabilities down to £1.6m from £32.4m in 2012". Basically this is being used as a way to pay for things. I wonder if that will be allowed when the new financial fair play rules come in?
  16. At least they own their club right? I am sure they are the envy of the 90 clubs or so above them....
  17. Like I said when Cortese left. I think we can say goodbye to the days of spending £10m+ on a player. That does not mean it is a bad thing as Lovren cost a lot less than that and he has been awesome this year. However.... I do think it also means she is happy to lose some of our youngsters i.e Shaw and Lallana if it means she will make some profit. This time next year we will have a better idea of her plans for the club but my gut feeling is she really is about the money more than the clubs progression. Only time will tell if that is true so no point arguing opinions on here until then really. Although I am sure people will say I am wrong based on the fact a hockey coach has been appointed as chairman!
  18. I agree momentum was killed by that cup game. However I also think there is something wrong with the balance of the team. Sir Rickie seems the focal point but when he has an off day we really lack threat up front. His game is to hold the ball up and bring others into the game but I think as the game is so fast it passes him by a lot of the time. He doesnt really get a chance to get into forward positions. It is down to Jay Rod and Lallana to do the running. It would be nice to have another player like Jay up front. Sort of like how Liverpool play. Two pacey strikers who harrass you into miatakes.
  19. SCW part two. Very strange appointment. That said he won't be making any football decisions so I guess it doesn't really matter that much does it.
  20. Even more angry after reading his comments today about the target being the Europa league. Win 3 games or win 12? He fecked up and should just have admitted it. But we move on, it's in the past.
  21. So if true his reasons were for personal gain rather then club or fan gain. Doubt its true but if it is then **** him. There are far more important things than money.
  22. Mopo has done well at this club and our league position is proof of that. However if you honestly think he didnt make a huge **** up today then I dont think you ever will.
  23. Nowhere near home yet as stayed for a bit longer, not read the other threads and wont. But after spending the best part of £200 to go I am just so angry. Loads of people will say support the team blah blah but how about the club and fans support the supporter for a change? What message does this send to those who want to follow the team and financially will try and do so? To me it says in future save my money. At least with Mopo in charge. I just cannot understand at all his decision to make so many changes. When we were told the line up I thought it was a wind up! People slag off Poyet for things he has said but the guy said ages ago he would be picking a weak team. He let the fans know his priorities were elsewhere. Where as we were told we wanted a cup run. There were even articles on tje OS with guys like Fonte saying how special the cup is. The thing is I could understand the need to focus on the league games if we were in trouble or if we were still in with a shout of the top 4. But we are mid table. To think we could get top 4 this season right now is madness. Top 6 is do able but we would have to take over man utd and everton. I just cant see that happening. And even then if that is our goal why gamble on getting to Europe in 12 games when you could of done it in 3 via the cup? It simply does not make any sense. So for the first time in a long long time I feel let down by the club. I would not have paid the money and traveled up in terrible conditions risking my health if I knew that we did not care about the cup. That we would play so many fringe players and give debuts to even more youngsters. This was not the game to do either. The strongest team possible should have been out, the players should of been fired up, mopo should of shown passion in the technical area and tried to drive them on. They did none of those things and that is why I am angry. As a club and as people those involved should be ashamed of the way they treated their supporters today. It isnt about winning a game of football, it is about respect and I deffinatly lost some respect for mopo and co today.
  24. And Wilshire
  25. Great result for us, gives us confidence going into the cup game. What will make it better is if Sunderland get a red and a few injuries, and Man Utd get abused by Arsenal tomorrow. Sha la la
