Based on current squad I would say 12th is about right however with a few additions notably centre back, centre midfield, left winger and a striker then there is no reason why we cant aim for top six and beyond. going to be tough league for sure. probably about 12 teams with realistic shout of promotion. saints, leicester, forest, west ham, birmingham, hull, middlesborough, leeds, burnley, ipswich, reading and cardiff. derby, blackpool and bristol city could even be up there.

U-21 Game Anyone going?? Is Lallana Playing??
jasoneuelllfanclub replied to um pahars's topic in The Saints
http://www.thefa.com/England/mens-under-21s/News/2011/england-under-21s-squad-euro i am glad he is not in the squad. he can now get a well deserved break and make sure his troublesome groin is in ship shape for new season. -
get a grip we are still in May! existing STH's would like to know renewal prices sooner rather than later -june would be acceptable. however potential new STH's may want to hang on until most of the transfer dealings are done and dusted before deciding whether to invest in a ST.

Retained list i reckon -
Oh dear, it seems Holloway has spoke to soon. http://www.tribalfootball.com/articles/blackpool-boss-holloway-fears-losing-puncheon-bigger-club-1637401 The true JP will soon appear once Blackpool are relegated. "terrific lad" yeah right. He will soon throw his toys out of the pram and demand a move to another club where he thinks he will be bigger than the cub.

If Reading dont get promoted they have a couple of decent players such as Jobi McAnuff and Robson-Kanu that could become available at the right price. In the case of McAnuff he is slightly inconsistent but then again a lot of wingers are. However on his day very good and would be good competition for Lallana and AOC.

games have never finshed at 4.45. it always use to be around 4.52pm a game would finish if no injury time but nowadays nearer 5pm inc injury time.
-
dont have be usain bolt but we are most vulrenable when we are up against pace. Example Peterborough away and even at sms against them they had quite a few chances due to their pace upfront. Jaidi will be fine against a big strong target man but we need a good pacey option at the back as well.
-
connolly is class and should be kept on as back up. need a right back. richardson doesnt inspire me. need a pacey CB, even fonte lacks genuine pace. a creative midfielder to provide competition with lallana and ox. it is proven with out lallana we are nowhere near as effective. cms would be a good signing.

The "Big" News - free "All Star" match on Sunday: K.O 3pm
jasoneuelllfanclub replied to benjii's topic in The Saints
i reckon attendence will be about 11k although i will be happy to be proved wrong. steve wood, mark blake and david hughes suggests they are struggling to get players of any note to play. as much as i am buzzing about the promotiion and cant wait for the new season I wont be going to this freebie game. just doesnt appeal to me whatsoever. -
reaffirms our position as the biggest club south of london.

South Today feature on Promotion... what was the music?
jasoneuelllfanclub replied to SaintNeil90's topic in The Saints
seems like BBC iplayer is down as both south today and solent links do not work. -
maybe a tribute to markus is being planned? statue? although would be classed as "big news"? be nice if everyone attending game on saturday gets a free souvenir promotion t-shirt
-
why would they not be banned for the games this season then? they wont give a dam about the money if it means getting one over us and deraling our season.
-
The players need to stay focussed and not get dragged into scuffles with brighton players. no doubt brighton will try and kick lumps out of us. They wont care about getting booked or risk even getting sent off. They will set out to rile us from the offset so we must not retaliate even if things are not going to plan. Probably a good thing Barny wont be playing as he has a short fuse:) stay clam, remain focussed and our ability should shine through. i have a feeling morgan will be on the bench saturday.
-
i agree. by doing it we would be losing focus on what is a massive game for us.
-
I would play guly upfront if barney is injured. Guly is more effective upfront and this way the need for him to track back is less plus any astray passes will get less punished in theory. We can then have 3 or 4 midfielders who will work hard to try and contain brighton threat esp on the wings. So i would go for 4-4-2 with lallana on left (if fit) and forte or n'gussen on right. i was thinking about why connolly was not on the bench for the rochdale squad yet was on bench on sat and the game at leyton orient. f he was injured I would have thought he would have been missing on sat judging by his track history with injuries. So I am wondering they do not risk him for away games which involve long coach journey i.e rochdale to protect his long standing groin injury.
-
What a stupid reply. If you lose a player through injury then having a replacement is obviously better than playing with 10 men but Lethal is right we do lack impact players off the bench and forte does seem to make an impact when coming on. I personally would start forte on the right with Lallana on left as Guly is generally awful especially at passing and tactical awareness.
-
2,556 is the exact allocation which fills the barn end of the ground apparently. I am sure there will be quite a few saints fans spread around the remainder of the stadium.
-
6 points the obvious target from next two games but 4 points would be ok as long as we follow up by beating Bristol Rovers. I see plymouth sold out, does anyone know how many tickets were allocated?
-
I am glad charlton won on saturday as otherwise they would have broken there duck against us for sure. Need a 90 minute performance as this wont be an easy game. They have a slow and weak defense but they have some good attacking options so we need to pin them back and pressure them until they buckle. If we play 4-4-2 I think we should be ok. The diamond makes me nervous particulary with Guly and Chaplow seemingly off colour.
-
What would you rather have - 3 games in hand or 5 extra points?
jasoneuelllfanclub replied to kpturner's topic in The Saints
huddersfield 18 games unbeaten which is some going even in this league. By all accounts up until Notts County they havent played very well but yesterday they were all over Notts County. Same with us though, I wouldnt say we have played particularly well of late yet we have got the points. If we can get 9 points from the next 3 games that will put us in a good position with 2 games in hand on both peterboro and huddersfiled. -
Partial standing at st mary's would be awesome. I can imagine turning the whole of the northam end into a standing zone for home fans. The atmoshpere would be amazing. I personally wouldnt stand as I suffer from a bad back but I would love to see SMS have a standing Kop end. I grew up watching saints in the lower milton road end and the old family centre. Those were the good old days.
