  1. Two seasons in the 3rd division is enough for me I'm afraid. I really enjoyed last season, and have also really enjoyed this one too. I've seen some really dire games (far worse than saturday's) and also some absolute crackers. And also a lot of fairly decent stuff too - so over a season I reckon I get more entertainment than not from saints. But I also want to get out of this league and if it means winning 1-0 every week with ****-poor performances then I don't care.
  2. Just back from the game (ha ha! not really - but we were stuck on the M3 for about an hour and a half on the way back, before we managed to get off at Eastleigh). It was a dull game, but what did anyone else expect before hand. Carlisle had (and still have) the second best away defence in lge1 after Brighton. They came with the intention of closing everything down and filled midfield. I though they did a good job and it was reflected in the way saints played. OK we looked pretty jaded but Carlisle didn't give us any space to use and everytime O-C got the ball they tried to stop him by fair mean or foul and I dodn't think they could complain about their sending off. It was inevitable that one of them would go eventually. The disappointment for me was Chaplow, who I rate really highly. I put his performance down to just a having an off day. I thought we really missed schneiderlin's creativity - but I thought Lallana looked pretty good when he came on. He is still far from match fit as was shown after a couple of his fast bursts he was almost bent double out of wind. For me, any win is a good win at this time of the season and there are some tough games coming up. Rochdale's home form (pl 14 w6 d 6 l 2 f 24 a 17 ) is pretty impressive and we will do well to win there. They are unbeaten in their last 8 home (league) games.
  3. I quickly squited thru this and this was the only bit that impressed me. Surving being shot 18 times!!!!!!!!!!! He either wore extremely good armour or the so called ace asassins came from p****muff
  4. Any chance of changing the thread title to something cunning like "Hartlepool - 22 Feb"?????
  5. More or less opposite Toomers - the best sport shop in town in those days (inc Holt & Haskell in Shirley Rd)
  6. Thanks - A perfect summary. But could be tricky getting to the game after this lot!
  7. and he wasn't too complimentary about their own pitch either
  8. My wife bought me this for Christmas: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Eats-shoots-leaves-Tolerance-Punctuation/dp/1861976127/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1295444268&sr=1-1 not sure if it was hint or not, but it made me realise that I was actually taught all this at school (a long time ago). On the other hand, this looks a bit more topical for this thread: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Eats-****es-Leaves-Crap-English/dp/1843172747/ref=pd_sim_b_3

  10. presumably you'll be in there before the game then?
  11. If this ones off I'll have a "three of a kind" - tickets to H'pool, Walsall and Charlton. It's unlikely i'll be able to do the first two midweek but should make charlton if it's rearranged
  12. also handy if you break down or get snowed in by the sound of it!!!

Was supposed to be in poland a couple of weeks ago but it dropped to -27 where I was going so thought better of it! I guess you'll be goig to ski dubai to warm up before long!

Which one will be colder?

One sure fire way of getting here would be for Prince Wills to accidentally invite all the voters to his forthcoming wedding (all expenses paid of course) on condition of us getting the WC. That's almost above board and almost not bribery in my book - there must be plenty of spare space in Westminster Abbey for them.

Well they know that if it came here their coffers would be bulging. The only venue that would gaurantee full houses for almost every game
  17. Ha ha!! It's great that everyone is entitled to their own opinion on here, yet so many people appear to get quite angry with other peoples points of view. I fall into the old school - I still get really excited about the FACup, memories of taking the tranny to school to listen to the 3rd round draw in the bikesheds at lunchtime etc etc. Like Dickyhale I was urging 55 to come out of the "hat" for every home team. I'm already looking forward to seeing Blackpool at SMS and why shouldn't we win? In my office there is a Chelsea ST holder who only gets excited after the 6th round, A Newcastle fan who is sh**ing himself about the visit to Stevenage and a Stoke fan who's convinced they can win the Cup and finish in the top 6. I really think we could cause a few upsets this year and go a long way.

  19. Lucky I've got one then!
  20. My guess is that if its then it must be
  21. Sort of puts things in perspective - mid-table third division Saints taking over 2000 to third division strugglers notts cty, when only last saturday with possibly the last chance ever to see the best supported club in the 2nd division ()
  22. There's always the bar and big screen at Sharjah Wanderers. The only watering hole in Sharjah except for the sheikhs palace!!
  23. Might have something to do with the victim no longer being with us?
  24. I went to the game today expecting a really hard battle against a team in 2nd place and with a huge positive goal difference. I came away almost buzzing with saints performance - total domination. Bmth were really poor and never looked like scoring after that early near miss. Their defence and midfield looked pretty dodgy and a more confident saints could have scored a hatfull today. We are really beginning to look a decent side and when ricky starts clicking again we will be a really difficult side to beat. Already mentioned elsewhere, but todays crowd over over 26k was massive for the third division - bigger than anything in the chumpionship and better than four premier crowds. Truly astonishing.
  25. Just thought I'd check out the distances - on google earth SMS to Dean Court is 23 miles, for comparison SMS to Krap Notarf is 16 miles - so not much in it. I was brought up in Holbury, and just discovered that our old house is exactly due south of Saint Marys (4.65 miles)!! I went to the old Brockenhurst Grammar and in those days Christchurch and Bournemouth were still in Hampshire and a lot of my school friends came from the Xchurch/New Milton area and also Ringwood (only about 8 miles from Dean Court and I bet a lot of saints fans live in the Ringwood area). So for anyone in the Forest area it could easily be classed as a local derby
