I may get laughed at and abused but, we let players go out on loan occasionally don't we. Therefore I would suggest we could let James, Lallana and Lancashire go out. James has not been very good so far this season and might benefit. Lallana needs to play with a team that can teach him how to utilise his talent. Lancashire also needs the match experience if he is going to make it. Saga I would let go because he doesn't fit comfortably in our set-up. He did do more running yesterday but a lot of it was just a waste of time and effort. At least he lked more interested than usual.

He showed a lot of composure and was also busy telling others where to go and who to mark which also helped. Very good start and he should be better with a few games under his belt.

We have had so many turned down or given against us over the recent season or two that I am hoping luck has turned our way for a while. How many saw Lambert elbowed in the face by a Colchester CB and nothing given. It is our turn that's all.

Well I for one was relatively satisfied today. The team played with more urgency than recently and did seem to want the win more than Yeovil. Yeovil did make Kelvin produce some saves but none were of the really hard type. Kelvin did well and seemed far more confident with crosses than normal.-7 Thomas did well too in his new position except for a couple of errore. -6 Jaidhi seemed to use all his experience and was always telling players where to be for corners etc. Apart from the odd header he ruled in the box and it can't be just a coincidence that his presence gave Kelvin more confidence in our defence. - 8 Trotman did okay and is on a good learning curve which he will now be able to continue with some confidence - 7 Harding did his usual job and is always trying 100% - 6 James seemed lost at times and lightweight - 5 Lallana - Still being allowed to take corners freekicks tec. He was told to leave them for a while and the quality improved immediately. Did get a few tackles in today and worked harder than usual. - 6 Hammond was everywhere and though booked was my man of the match. He linked well with front and back line and is beginning to show us why AP wanted him -8 Morgan showed more heart than usual and may be coming to terms with the league - 7 Saga did a lot of running and actually seemed to be genuinely trying. Matchfitness will bring him more games and start the goals coming - 6 Lambert had his best game for a while and goals apart seemed to enjoy himself today. Good at holding up the ball and flickons and very nearly my man of the match - 8 Today we saw a few problems resolved. We now have a penalty taker. There is someone else who can take corners. Jaidhi will knit our defence together and help the younger more inexperienced players. The team is starting to attack the ball more though there is still a long way to go. All in all I am a lot happier than I was a month ago although there is still a lot that needs to be done.

I was at swindon and that has been the poorest we have played this season. We had no drive for the majority of the game and could have let more than the one goal in. That said we have improved a great deal since then and I can't wait for the mighty saints to begin delivering. Starting with Yeovil I am confident that the wins are about to begin rolling in like clockwork. A very very small minority seem to wish the worst just so that they can continue to moan with or without sense. AP has brought several players in and I think that they have all added to our strength. We will almost certainly add more in the January window. By my reckoning we will be the team to beat next season.

I said 3-0 in prediction league and see no reason to change my mind.

Bart or Forecast, Pulis and Molyneux for starters. Gillett will probably go out on loan pending an agreement to buy later. Wotton should also be dismissed. Saga can go now for what ever we can organise. Forecast was apparantly well liked by Spurs fans in the main.Hasn't had a good run to regain his confidence. Bart hasn't been the same since his injury but again needs a good long run in the team. Some have named Poke but I feel sure that he could do a job if the need arose.

Listening to the commentary I was overjoyed when we scored. We had a large part of the first half and I was praying fervently for the vital second goal to go in to calm our nerves. It didn't come and they scored and began to over run us for a while. Normally we would have ended up getting turned over but today we fought hard and regained some composure. We even appear to have finished better which has to be a good sign. The Saints fans were superb and could be clearly heard yet again in an away match. Why can't we make more noise at home, I wonder? Roll on Saturday where I hope to have two of my kids see us win a game. We are getting there I just wish it could happen a little quicker.

When they came for me I didn't know who they were so why should Whitey?
-
I can envisage a goal scored early and then a backs to the wall defensive display that allows us a first win. 0-1

With the posibility that both newly cleared players will play have we still got to play with no width? Mellis and Thomson both had stinkers but at charlton we may now have Holmes ready. As poor as the Colchester game was we only needed to take one of our chances and then the game would have opened up. With our even more determined defence is it feasable that we could now now score and then defend a goal for a clean sheet?

Jake Thomson is supposed to have speed and a willingness to take on defenders. He has not yet shown me anything to confirm that and also likes cutting into the middle of the park. If he is a winger he should try showing it or not be picked. Terribly disappointing game yesterday and the crowd became quiet very early once the initial chanting died. I left with a lot more questions that need to be answered than for all the previous games. Why was Spiderman not in at the start? Why was Thomson brought on? Is Gillett going to get a game? Is Lallana guarenteed a start and why? Have we anybody available that can take corners and freekicks properly? Why can't we find someone capable of putting in some good crosses. Why do we give other teams so much room?

I think everything has been written that needs to be. Very happy, with the only concern being how long it will take to gel as a unit. That said, I have been impressed by the way the club seems to be turning itself around now we have decent owner and management. Colchester may not know it yet but they are going to be the first home victims of the season in the league and I can't wait. Expect to leave the ground feeling a whole lot better on Saturday.

Silly season is back but I am left thinking about how close we were to beating Burnley at the end of last season. Had we won and the next game done the same we could have been relegated through the points deductions leaving us a level playing field. Burnley beating Utd started this line of thought and now I guess I can wait for the ridicule to begin.

Pardew's post match interview on Solent
SFC Forever replied to Nineteen Canteen's topic in The Saints
Is it possible that some of these ridiculous rules are a way of dividing the wheat from the chaff. We have some very very poor players and he has probably told some by his attitude who these players are. They have 2 choices. Buckle down or ship yourselves out if someone will have you. -
For what it is worth I am getting more impressed by Harding every week. Today he made a couple of good runs, scored and made some very timely tackles.M O M imho

Interesting or backing AP's judgement.

Just got home and though disappointed by the way we let Brentford back into the game I was pleased to see the improvement. We scored at a time when we were getting control. The goal was well worked and Harding took it well. In fact Harding had his best game for us. I didn't like the way we stopped playing after scoring as though to frightened by what they had just done. Hammond had a reasonable game and we looked much more sturdy in midfield. Trotman had a great start and apart from a couple of blunders he should a lot of presence in our box. Will also be a threat in other teams box when crosses improve. If AP can find us a decent winger or two we will start to look like a useful team and will begin winning more and more often. We still seem to have the we are much to good for this league mentality. We are not and must learn to walk again before we can rise once more to the upper echelons of English football. The game today is just that, a small first step as we learn to walk. the additions will help and we may yet find one or two more to help us further.

Got to get one right one day

Bit of insider knowledge eh!!!!!!!!!

I wouldn't pay for that. Plus, even if it was free I will be on my way to Southampton to cheer us on to our first win and 3 glorious points.
-
If they were shjt what on earth did that make us?

I must admit I have been considering 4 3 3 for a while now. However if we decide that that is the answer we need to play an out and out winger. Lallana is never going to be that so I would have Gobern in and possibly Thomson. Lallana and Paterson could be on the bench. Schneiderlin I would tell to roam and look for space so that he is always free to accept a pass. I would like to see whether he can actually use the space to effect. If he could he would then be making it possible for us to find a forward in a shooting opportunity more often and link with the midfield and wingers. Then the opposition might have something to think about other than pummelling our defence until they find a way through. As we get stronger we must start to take the initiative and give cause for concern to the other teams. First though every player has to be prepared to work and fight for the cause. AP seems to be collecting players that are able to do this so soon we may have a team to roar on as we climb away from the foot of the table.

I agree that the harsh words are not merited. Murty has shown a passion and commitment that will stand us in good stead. He also seems able to read the game. Harding has done well and not even the best LB in the world wins every tackle. Lambert has never been a sprinter but he does know how to score and will for us. Mellis may be a good signing as he has shown he is not scared to take people on. Hammond and Trotman both come with glowing reports so hopefully will be as good as the other 4 or better. We could add Thomas to the new boys list having been out for a season. Holmes looked good, until injured, at times last season and could also be classed in the same group as Thomas. Mills also left last season and got half a years experience in this standard and has come back looking much more the player we hoped he would be. Find a striker and we have a team, With Kelvin in goal, that should be capable of winning plenty of games. We also have Spideman and one or two others that could flourish when the team has started to respond to AP and new signings. I agree that some like Ollie and Jamie could be better of going out on loan for a while. Oscar could be a sub and White, Mcclaggon, Gillett with Thomson all pushing for a place. Once the team has Gelled and begun to win we should be better prepared for the occasional playing of some younger players. It is always easier to play in a team with a winning mentality. MYSELF, I AM QUITE PREPARED TO GIVE THE TEAM A FEW GAMES TO GEL AND THEN START SHOWING US THAT WE ARE WELL ON THE ROAD TO RECOVERY. COYRAW's
