  1. You are such a strange and depressing person. Say you have the choice between playing for Bournemouth or Burnley (assuming you are local). Doesn’t it make sense to sign for a club near to were your family and friends are?
  2. Can I ask the people who would like us to sign Ziyech why they would want him? Yes he is very talented and full of tricks, but his demeanor is the same as Boufals. At Heerenveen, Twente and Ajax he had a poor relationship with the fans and staff. Standing next to Jordy Clasie would make Clasie look like Arnold Schwarzenegger in his bodybuilding days. Imagine one of the big CB’s of the Prem crashing in to him. Besides him and Boufal together would seriously cause trouble within the team.
  3. Ajax are loaded with cash. They have been making millions over the last few years with player sales, and likely to do again this summer with the sales of Kluivert, Ziyech and de Ligt (the sale of de Ligt is likely to be around 60 million euro). I agree that Tadic isn’t the kind of signing Ajax would normally do.
  4. This. Glad I haven’t wasted any money on this. Anyone know a decent Saints forum where I can read about the club instead of rubbish?
  5. Alireza Jahanbakhsh from AZ Alkmaar. A winger and/or attacking midfielder who can score goals and create them.
  6. A difficult choice between 3 seasons. 2011-2012, the season we were in the Championship and got promoted to the PL under Adkins. Got to go to many games and remember singing ´we are Southampton, were are top of the league´ many times. 2013-2014, like said above, we played some great football and the players all seemed to be having a great time. 2015-2016, finishing 6th and winning just about all the games after Christmas. We almost finished 5th above United.
  7. I see that Napoli have sacked Sarri, maybe we are in for him
  8. I don’t want to sound all pessimistic, but I have my doubts with what Hoedt has supposedly said. If the players would have walked out of training multiple times, I am sure some reliable ITKs on here would have posted something. This isn’t a boardroom meeting where only a select few people are. This is a training session with 20+ football players involved, plus all the staff at Staplewood that were there at the time. Someone certainly would have talked. I do believe that the players we’re glad MoPe left as they didn’t seem to know what he wanted them to do on the pitch, and they were all over the place.
  9. I would like to see Emery (spelling) as a manager as he likes to play attacking and fast football. However we have had 2 poor seasons and narrowly missed relegation. Maybe keeping Hughes for 2 seasons to steady the ship and rebuild the squad won’t be a bad idea.
  10. McCarthy player of the season. Boufal goal of the season.
  11. We need changes on and of the pitch, since Koeman left we have been in decline and we should have a big summer if we want to avoid another poor season. Of the pitch: Invest in a new medical and strength and conditioning department. Bring in a new chairman who can motivate the backroom staff (like him or loath him but Cortese demanded the best from everyone within the club). Upgrade the acadamy and possibly bring in new coaches. Upgrade St Mary's. On the pitch: Try to sell/offload Forster, Boufal, Hoedt, Carrillo, Pied, Bertrand and Clasie Bring in a new (PL experienced) CB, RB, LB, striker, goalkeeper (back up) Stop buying reserve players from European clubs and go hunting for real talent in the Championship and L1. Clyne, Lambert, Cork, Rodriguez (pre injury) did well for us coming from the lower leagues.
  12. 1981: Member of royal family gets married Liverpool win the CL Pope dies 2005: Member of royal family gets married Liverpool win the CL Pope dies 2018 Member of royal family about to get married Liverpool in the final of the CL Someone better warn the pope
  13. Nothing more to add. Except that the only players I hope to see back next season are McCarthy and Yoshida, others can all leave..
  14. I can’t take this, going to walk the dog to lower my blood pressure and hope we are still ahead when back.
  15. Mane and Pelle together only cost around 1 million more then Carrillo. Just think of what we could have done with the 19 million we spent on Carrillo. We could have set up a state of the art sport science and medical department at the training ground and improved the players we already have. Not to start on the signings we could have made.
  16. Lack of ITK posts
  17. Pr!ck. Better say you hope Goa makes a Saints career ending decision for the board.
  18. Carrillo has returned to the bench I see, last minute winner from him? Would have preferred Sims on the bench instead of him.
  19. Sounds like our previous manager. Btw what has happened to Carillo?
  20. Les should have left the summer Koeman left. He has been going rapedly downhill ever since. I remember reading articles in Dutch football magazines how well we were run and what great academy we have. From signing players who were top of the league they were playing in (Wanyama, Van Dijk, Mane) to reserve players from foreign clubs (Carillo, Lemina, Hojbjerg). The scouting of players and managers has been the reason we are where we are now.
  21. A little off topic, but if we remain in the PL should we try and get Unai Emery from PSG? He is likely to leave at the end of the season and Spanish papers are linking him to Real Sociedad, the current number 14 of the La Liga. Sure we could match their offer and give him the funds to build a strong team.
  22. In 2003 we finished 8th and got to the final of the FA Cup. Midway through the 2003-2004 our manager (Strachan) left and we replaced him with a lesser candidate (Sturrock), whilst we were in a good position and could attract a good manager. The players decided they didnt like the new manager, the board sacked him and we ended having a chaotic season with manager changes ending in relegation. In 2016 we finished 6th and qualified for the Europa League. Our manager (Koeman) left and we replaced him with a lesser candidate (Puel), whilst we were in a good position and could attract a good manager. The players decided at the end of the season they didnt like the new manager, the board sacked him and we ended having a poor season with a poor manager ending in ??????.
  23. Employing Lambert as a youth coach I would say yes. Good example for the players that hard works pays of and Lambert rarely got in to trouble on and off the pitch.
  24. Wanyama Van Dijk Pelle (difficult choice between him and Mane).
  25. Peter Bosz please Les. Plays attacking football, good in developing young players and has managed big clubs. Downside to Bosz is he can be very stubborn.
